Was gonna say must sound like a buzz saw with those tyres!

not really, can't say i really notice any tyre noise, maybe because i'm too busy making motor bike noises braaaap braaaap 🙂

I'd also like to see a big ol' headlamp and battery pack in the mix.

Sorry, you'll just have to settle for little flahsy LED's

I'm not really worried whether you understand or not Graham, just wondering how you do it.

You should cover it in tracing paper so that people walking by can't see it clearly either:D

As somebody living in canada with some loan payments still left in the uk, the current rate is great, it costs me less and less in dollars each month to make those payments 🙂

yeah keep it inside somewhere, I commute about 10k on my dialled alpine with 160mm forks and 2.5 tyres, its kept in my cubicle at work in a fairly big office, i'm sure you can find somewhere safe for it.

No singlespeed, lots of hills/mountains, but most climbs I do are generally sit and spin, maybe there's the odd little burst of standing up to get up a short sharp climb. Its just something i've never really done but have become aware of. Even though I bike a fair bit, I don't seem to have the ability to do it for long standing up.

Think I just need to ride a whole lot standing up, cause going by you guys I appear to be pretty lame at pedaling standing up!

If you want to keep the fuel economy, something like michelins will be slightly better in the long run than cheapies. The cheapies generally have higher rolling resistance, so take more power to achieve the same goal. Its only very slight, but over time, every little helps! You only have to fit one cheapie to a car to make it pull to one side, which shows they must have more drag. And no. i'm not a tyre rep!!

Surely more rolling resistance = more grip 😉

in my experience forget any of the summer tyres, its the uk, it rains a lot (and even snows a lot this year) get a tire with lots of grooves and less big flat sections if you want it to be reliable in the wet (and somewhat capable in the snow) which is probably when its most important that you have decent grip. Summer tires must be useless with any sort of standing water but folk will but them cause the look good. They might look nicer but unless your still in your teens that should be the least important factor.

my first one i was inbetween on the helmet i liked, chose the bigger one but it always felt too loose, ended up getting another one of a different make but it should feel almost uncomfortable in the shop, especially if you're not used to a full face.

walleater, have you moved jobs or is there more than one bike shop with a chippy over the road? We should get out for a ride on the dialled's sometime.

ps. to the OP, also in Vancouver and glad I moved, I got a transfer through work though which made it quite easy.

i don't understand why people get HD camcorders. the lenses are plastic rubbish and you just won't benefit from having HD
We're moving over to HD in about 18 months, the cameras are about 25,000 and the equivalent lenses to our SD ones are 15,000ish
For that money you'll notice HD, for £250 get the best SD you can find.

pish, my HD panasonic digi cam takes much better movies than any previous SD digi cams i've had, there is a difference. It might not be equivalent to 25k worth of HD gear that you are upgrading to but its still better than SD on similarly priced consumer camcorders.

The main reason I've gone replaceable on the new Soul is to save weight so I could offset the extra metal in the CEN compliant front end.

How much weight out of interest do you save going allow, can't be that much surely.

maybe slightly worse for pics, but still good, video I don't think you'd notice any difference.

look here for pics taken with different cameras http://www.flickr.com/cameras

pics are great (for a compact), Its hard to show it off because its not exceptional its just good, I've not tried taking any fancy arty shots with it just to show off that it has a great macro mode or anything like that.

One thing to be aware of with the video is that the HD is in AVCHD format, which lets you fit a lot of film onto one memory card, think i could do about 4 hours of HD on my 16gb card if the battery lasted that long. The software you get with it for pc's isn't the best but imovie on a mac lets you work with it easily.

I had an olympus, picture quality was poor, movie mode not too good although apparently better on the newer one coming out.

Now have the panasonic, picture quality is up there with all but the best compacts, movie mode is great.

played with the pentax but the controls were horrible

Canon has a sticky out lens so isn't compact, but takes great pictures.

There are a whole bunch of new waterproofs coming out, sony and casio ones look interesting, think the sony uses their new fancy cmos sensor thing.

Am a sucker for BBC landscape kind of stuff though.

Tracker, you should watch a show called departures, not sure if you guys get it over there as its a canadian show, the filming is awesome and they go to some really different places. its on oln here and we can watch it online, if you can't you can probably download it somewhere.

I use this site for finding a lot of uk stuff. http://thebox.bz/main.php

The program above is here http://thebox.bz/details.php?id=111286

Interestingly it also has a billy connolly tour of canada thing which is bound to be much better here

You might need an invite to sign up just now, I have a few if you need it. But you have to keep your ratio of uploads to downloads around 1.0 to keep them happy and me if I invite you. I usually download them whenever and then leave them to upload for other people over night. Have a read up on torrents.
