    £700 … ?!

So, it's like a Macbook, but not as good and almost the same price.

except the article linked above showed it starting at 499 but potentially lower.

if your just sitting around the house, you're fecked cause its too easy to just fall asleep, you need a few days of being out or being down the pub or something to keep you awake until its normal bed time.

When we moved to vancouver, the international moving firm used a local removals firm to pick up our stuff, I can't for the life of me remember how much it was as the company paid for it, I'm sure I still have all the details at home though.

We shipped our bed, drawers, half our clothes, kitchen stuff, computer, 2 bikes, snowboards, think thats was about it, it was quite a lot to ship it but still cheaper than replacing it, things like the 2 bikes, 2 snowboards and computer would be in the region of $10k to replace so it wasn't an issue. We still had an extra room and living room to refurnish which cost quite a bit and had to buy some kitchen stuff as our stuff took a few weeks longer than planned to arrive. It left us at the start of October and arrived at the start of February. Will be quicker to Toronto I guess.

I would say just a regular milkshake, probably has a bit more sugar than just milk which is quite good for restoring some energy in your muscles after some exercise. Last time i checked a regular choc milkshake still had 16g of protein so must do you some good.

exept fort william isn't the middle of nowhere, it's a fairly major tourist destination being a start point for journeys into the middle of nowhere – the west highlands, climbing the highest mountain in britain, the world mountain bike chmapionship, the caledonian canal and loch ness, the road to the isles, one of the major ski-ing venues, and on and on..
unless i'm mistaken are we not trying to encourage tourism?

Ok, middle of nowhere might be an exaggeration but its not the middle of glasgow or edinburgh either, trains are far from perfect as has been discussed every other day on here it seems. Tourism trips are not the focus of anybody's green polices. The fact that the OP's trip can seemingly be made for around $35 seems quite reasonable to me. Green policy while ideally wanting all trips to be made by sustainable modes will always focus on the commuter trips. Now if you complain about the price of those trips I'm with you all the way.

Green policy while obviously has the aim of shifting as many people as possible out of the car and onto sustainable modes of travel, it is focussed on the commuter trips. I would argue that $35-$40 isn't a bad price for a return train ticket into the middle of nowhere! Maybe your car is too cheap.

Also a bit lame to complain about the cost of public transport to some obscure little station in the highlands, fair enough if its a commute into a big city but seriously, if you want to bleat on about saving the environment stay home and watch it on the tv/internet!

Recently, I hate getting wet on my commute, so if you can redesign the weather that would be great. When I waited for the bus up the hill it had the old shit bike rack that won't hold 2.5" tyres, I had to wait nearly 4 minutes for the next one with the new style rack that'll take my 2.5" commuter tyres! My pedals need servicing cause the creak a little and I can't be arsed! I spent my working day today in my socks cause 5-10's are like giant sponges!

ps. whats a transport design student? I'm a transport planner which covers a whole load of stuff, are you just doing design of transport facilities? Genuinely interested.

Those mudguards, especially the Moto style front one really don't do the bike any favours in the looks department Can you even see your front wheel when riding?

Nope! Not really essential on the commute though, they'll come off for proper riding

sorry that would ruin the bikes finely tuned centre of gravity and affect my backflips!
