I have an iPad, I have numbers on it and I would not recommend it for any sort of complex spreadsheet work, entering data is quite frustrating compared with MS Office and a keyboard, If she has to do that a cheap netbook with office will be ideal, I had one of those too and sold it when i got the iPad. Fortunately I don’t have much need to work on spreadsheets on it.

ok, another noob question, sometimes there are two segments almost the same but some have (AW) after the name, what does that mean?

For example me and a friend were out doing a few laps of the same trail his went to the actual trail name and mine went to the same name with (AW) after it.

going to add, if you have one of these cameras with 14mm lens, the Lowepro Santiago DV 35 fits my EPM1 with 14mm perfectly and provides semi-solid crash protection and fits perfectly in the side pocket of my dakine nomad, I can be taking pictures in a few seconds without even removing my backpack.

Not really answering your question here as I went with Olympus but to me, the Olympus felt like a more solid camera and I didn’t like the touchscreen system on the Panny, got to love those Panasonic pancakes though. I just posted these in the other thread but these are some pics in the forest with EPM1 and 14mm F2.5 lens, all quite high ISO (1000-1600) trying to capture some fast movement in the forest.

I have the epm1 with 14mm pancake, its very small and ideal for sticking in the pack to take biking, and manages some pretty decent pics even in thick forest.

maybe this has been answered, can’t be bothered reading six pages, but what do you do with it once you have the wheel off if you’ve not flipped it? surely you don’t lay it on the ground some other way, think of the damage! bent rear mechs, scratched chainstays 8O

watch them hitting the down tube of a carbon santa cruz against a concrete block, I wouldn’t have any worries about a roof carrier after that.

I don’t have one but was seriously thinking about it a couple of months ago before I found an excellent deal on an Olympus E-PM1, almost drove myself mad reading camera geek forums, looking at 100% crops, etc, before deciding all these cameras take pretty decent pictures so I just looked for the best deal mostly. I got the E-PM1 for $400 with kit zoom, then bought Panasonic 14mm F2.5 lens of ebay for another $200 and i’m very happy with it and they also have some fast lenses which i plan on upgrading to. I know that wasn’t much help at all…

I just picked up a dirt cheap mongoose teocali elite from a website called giantnerd (weird name i know) in the states, $1000 for a full suss bike with very decent kit, reduced from $2500 or thereabouts, they have some other mongooses and gt’s from last year at ridiculous prices. Not sure how much shipping will be to the UK, it was $90 to Canada.

or do what i just did, find the Oly E-PM1 dirt cheap somewhere, get the Pany 14mm F2.5 lens for $200 of ebay and you have a pretty small little set up. 20mm f1.7 is on my list too though.

I’m sure the buses on that route stop three times within 90m too! Maybe there are a lot of services along there and its better to have them stopping at a few stops rather than one. At least she was using the busbrather than the car so presumably did some walking.

He’s not going to lose much getting it now, my main machine at home is a 2006 iMac, not bad getting 6 years out of a machine and it will last a lot longer. I’ve just started thinking about replacing it as you can’t run the latest OS on the first gen intel processors and a little more power and ram wouldn’t hurt.
