thanks rs, interestingly i have the epm1 too and would like to put to the test

I have the 20mm/F1.7 pancake which makes a huge difference in getting biking shots in the forest, focusing can be tricky but I have gotten plenty of shots I like. few of my favorites below, some in the forest one in the open…

to anyone but a professional or serious enthusiast I think they would be acceptable and I couldn’t have got these with a big DSLR because I wouldn’t have it with me.

Just curious but what is a good sports action test for a micro 4/3 camera? what type of action shot is it poor at? as i want to test mine some time.

The biggest challenge is fast moving things in a dark environment, ie. mountain biking in a forrest, I think the Olympus EPM1 does ok and i can fit it in a side pocket of my hydration pack.

Do you subscribe to cable/sky and watch a lot of tv at night. Lose the subscription which will save some money, put some music on instead and you will find a bunch of more productive things to do which may include exercise.

if you ride up one big hill then ride down a remote is not a big deal, but then a quick release is almost as good, if you ride trails that have a lot of variation you will want a remote.

If other ones are working then that’s great, it was not intended for them.

Hear many people coming on here talking about cracking their Alpine 160 swing arms, however I don’t post on saying how great mine is because its fine. I just have a bit of sympathy with their situation.

You came onto warm people about your problem figuring everyone had the same problem. As you just stated yourself most people don’t broadcast how happy they are. The problems were small and the people that have them are quite vocal as they are understandably frustrated. There are lots of videos showing how good this thing is, get another one and have fun with it, its miles ahead of the competition and is just having a few teething problems.

I agree. Decent speakers def make a difference, I had a speaker dock thing, you turned that up and it sounded terrible and had way too much bass. I bought an AudioEngine DAC and their little AudioEngine 2 active speakers and the difference is incredible, as you say the tv goes on far less now as its actually enjoyable to listen to music.

My black is working fine too, seems to be one person here with problems and lots with good units. Send it back and get another, its a great camera.

    My streaming solution is:

Macbook Pro, AudioEngine D1 DAC Connected to Apple TV (also connected to 42″ TV) and AudioEngine 2 Active Speakers.

I can stream music from itunes to the speakers, stream internet tv through the tv and speakers, it sounds great, i’m very happy with it.

well that clears up a few things… I’m going to predict TWR becomes 23degrees world racing next year riding walmart bikes

    From vitalmtb

January 9 – Gwin publishes a letter saying that he didn’t break any contract.

“I’m writing this public note to hopefully shed a little light on what’s actually going on with my move to Specialized.

Reports that I broke my contract with 23 Degrees/Trek World Racing are false.? My contract expired.? The one-page letter of intent I signed said there would be a “full length contract” with “precise terms” coming in the future.? The 16-page contract that showed up in late November was not signed by me because it was not the deal we had made. I have moved on to a team that gave me the contract I wanted, and these are the facts.

The press reports are inaccurate, unfair, and one-sided. Because 23 Degrees has hired lawyers and threatened to sue me, my lawyers have told me not to say anything for now.

While riding for Trek, I lived up to my contract and gave them my 100% effort and full commitment.? I intend on doing the same for Specialized.

As for now, I want to let my fans know that my offseason training has been going great. I love my new bikes and I’m more excited to race this year than I ever have been. Big thanks to the Specialized family for such an amazing opportunity and support.

I hope everyone understands that I cannot talk any further about this at this time, but I felt like I needed to clear the air a bit, without getting too much into the legal stuff.

Thanks to all the fans who have stood behind me.” — AG

RS – that was the first day of the season???? I hate you right now .

It was my first day at whistler this year, we always give it a month or so after opening to get good :)

    Nice one.
    Which run was that?

Can’t remember the run, it was in the Symphony area on Whistler. Was way better than the video shows, that area just opened up that weekend and the actual runs had a 1 to 2 feet of powder in places, one trip into the trees didn’t end to great as that was just several feet of powder, you get stuck there and its not easy to get up!

Mate of mine works in whistler and has been posting pics/vids on facebook since the season opened. Seriously tempted to defriend him.

Or book a flight and kip on his sofa!

definitely worth doing grum, I have a Ride one which is flat between the bindings and just a little rocker at both ends and it made such a difference to confidence, especially on the flats but just going faster in general. The full rockers apparently have less edge hold, definitely worth renting or demoing a couple. I knocked off work early yesterday, was pretty nice :)

    fixed it bunnyhop, here’s a pic too…

Thanks hammerite and Bunnyhop. I’m not too bad with flat tracky bits but my missus still isn’t that confident about going fast in a straight line.

re. that point, is she using any sort of rocker board, made a huge difference for me on the flats as you know you won’t catch edges, therefore confidence to go faster :)

Got my first runs of the year last week and first time using the gopro snowboarding so might as well post that… its currently dumping down at city level so looking forward to the second night of the year tonight!

Interestingly, gun laws in the UK were changed after the dunblane shooting, from same wiki article I linked above.

The Gun Control Network was founded in the aftermath of the shootings and was supported by some parents of victims at Dunblane and of the Hungerford Massacre.[12] Bereaved families and their friends also initiated a campaign to ban private gun ownership, named the Snowdrop Petition (because March is snowdrop time in Scotland), which gained 705,000 signatures in support and was supported by some newspapers, including the Sunday Mail, a Scottish newspaper whose own petition to ban handguns had raised 428,279 signatures within five weeks of the massacre.

The Cullen Inquiry into the massacre recommended that the government introduce tighter controls on handgun ownership[13] and consider whether an outright ban would be in the public interest.[14] The report also recommended changes in school security[15] and vetting of people working with children under 18.[16] The Home Affairs Select Committee agreed with the need for restrictions on gun ownership but stated that a handgun ban was not appropriate.

In response to this public debate, the then-current Conservative government introduced a ban on all cartridge ammunition handguns with the exception of .22 calibre single-shot weapons in England, Scotland and Wales. Following the 1997 General Election, the Labour government of Tony Blair introduced the Firearms (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1997, banning the remaining .22 cartridge handguns in England, Scotland and Wales, and leaving only muzzle-loading and historic handguns legal, as well as certain sporting handguns (e.g. “Long-Arms”) that fall outside the Home Office Definition of a “Handgun” due to their dimensions. The ban does not affect Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, or the Channel Islands.

Security in schools, particularly primary schools, was improved in response to the Dunblane massacre and two other violent incidents which occurred at around the same time: the murder of Philip Lawrence, a head teacher in London, and the wounding of six children and Lisa Potts, a nursery teacher, at a Wolverhampton nursery school.

I know we only get news from English speaking nations or close neighbours but is this type of shooting happening else where?

I wouldn’t go for the upgraded mem or SSD versions as these can be upgraded more cost effectively and without voiding the warranty. Have a look at the crucial site for both and don’t go higher than 8GB.

Why no higher than 8GB? I was using all 16GB of my ram on my 2012 MBP last night while working on some gopro video.

I thought of a strava like app six months before it became massive, even drew up some screenshots and discussed with app developer friend, nothing came of it, then all of a sudden strava was everywhere. It was probably already around when I had my idea.
