I remember when I was about 8-9 sitting down with my brother & uncle and watching ‘Dirty Harry’ and for weeks afterwards my uncle would come out with all the classic chat from it. It was fantastic, the TV series Chips was new to tv then so I was really into Cops and Bad guys.

    Dirty Harry
    Unforgiven
    Where Eagles Dare
    Gran Torino
    Million Dollar Baby

Looking at them all a Top Five is quite hard

My son broke his right arm at school yesterday (supra-condylar ?sp). He fell from a climbing frame at his primary school in Auckland.

Why don’t you name it in a corporate sponsor style? Maybe write to a few companies and get it a collar & coat with their name on it. Then in a few years you could confuse it and whoever else by changing it’s name to something else. For periods when other sponsors were taking priority say in a curled up sleeping competition, bird catching or milk drinking contest you’d only be able to refer to it as your cat or my cat and you’d have to rip the labels off it’s tinned/sacheted food or black them out.

I found Ground Effect’s range of lycra shorts incredibly comfortable and really good quality.

Specialized ‘ the Captain’ front 28-30 psi and ‘small block eight’ rear 32-ish nice and fast, clear the mainly soft sandy loam easily. front can be a bit sketchy when it’s really dry and sandy

IUGR- Intra-uterine growth retardation, You baby’s growth will have been monitored throughout your wifes pregnancy. Length and Head circumference measurements along with other measurements are taken during the scan that she has. These are then plotted on a standard of averages graph (percentile chart) which is used to monitor the growth of your baby ‘in utero’.
Your baby’s growth is dependent upon blood supply from the placenta which can be affected by a number of factors (including drinking and smoking) but most seriously by you wife’s blood pressure. If blood pressure varies markedly so can the the baby’s growth. Other genetic factors, defects of the placenta, family history, previous pregnancies can all have an influence on an out-come at this stage.
If your baby’s growth tails off signifcantly or stops completely it may become necessary for the baby to be delivered early by cesarean section in order to maintain or re-establish a good growth rate, at 32 weeks & IUGR it may need some respiratory support (CPAP) for several days or even a week or more, other factors overlap here like temperature control and enteral feeding/Intravenous nutrition. All of this means a hospital stay in a NICU or SCBU depending on where you live and your baby’s level of need. Hopefully though all your wife needs is some rest and further monitoring in which case doing nothing means doing nothing even if she says she feels ok.
Good luck and post back with an update.

I’m a Registered Nurse working in Auckland, for nearly 5 years now. Young family (6+10) great life for kids out here so no plans to return to the UK.

I’m interested in this as I have an opportunity to buy a Reba Race (100mm) which has an Axle – Crown measurement of 510mm. The rigid fork A-C is 490mm. Will the Sag on the Reba even up the difference? The Frame manufacturer specifies corrected for 80-100mm.

I found this link with some pictures that give you an idea of what it’s been like for people there. I live in Auckland and it’s kind of odd with life going on as normal.

    Cant get it to work

I’m definitely looking forward to it and as I’m in NZ it’s a much more civilised mid afternoon until around 2230. It’ll be the Australian ABC commentary though as no TMS permitted online (by the self important BBC).
I hope Bresnan gets the call ahead of Tremlett (more economical, and more control over his length, more solid with the bat too). If they pick Tremlett and he starts going for runs and can’t get his length right England’s bowling options would be a bit thin especially as Anderson has just been home and back within a week.

I have a pair of Endura shorts (don’t know the model/name off hand) But they’ve pretty much been worn constantly for four years (bought in the summer’06 for around 60quid) and there is still life left in them. They’re still my favourite shorts. I don’t have any of Endura’s other stuff as I moved to NZ and it’s not readily available here, but for what it’s worth ‘Ground Effect’ stuff is, and the quality of their gear in terms of construction, fit and longevity is really impressive. NZ made too!

Tyre clearance is ok, 2.1’s on F&R and can get my my fingers in the space down to the palm.
$1300 NZ Bikes/Bike Stuff are expensive here, its often cheaper to get stuff from the UK on the web(especially tyres)
Chain is slack will need to adjust the ebb.
    Yes living in NZ.
It’s probably nothing special lots of low end parts nothing ‘bling’ but it’s my first 29er and SS and it’s been a long time since I could justify buying a new bike.
epicyclo: yours is the forerunner to this one. Main difference being geometery is adjusted for a suspension fork.
It’s spring here so the grass needs cutting every week and I spent my money on the bike rather than a strimmer.
Re the need for Creosote I can’t disagree but I’ll be out riding

I bought a new bike last week (Franchise Shop). I asked about a discount although I’d already decided I was prepared to pay their asking price (I’m aware of quite small margins made on stuff in bike shops and often wonder how they can make any money at all after paying staff etc) I’m not wealthy but I have a good job and earn pretty reasonable money when compared with national averages (New Zealand). I know the shop and they’ve looked after my other bikes as I’m not really mechanically minded (inspite of the books & attempts at DIY). I didn’t really need another saddle or the pedals so whilst they didn’t discount they took money off for those and they put on my choice of tyres, not the ones it came with which saved me money too. I was quite happy with that.

Incidently, Kids actually only really need full fat milk up to two years of age, beyond that apparently it's not really necessary.

I used to buy full fat milk and butter not margarine however a recent medical showed high cholesterol so I was advised by my GP to change so I have.

Great pics! I've walked up Ben Lomond and taken in those views many times(brought up in Helensburgh which is not far away). Kayaked and Sailed on the Loch as well. I live in NZ now so it's nice to see a bit of home and jog a few memories.

Prior to seeing the TV pictures and listening to the reports on the news (radio) this morning (in NZ- bit of a fuss as Julian Dean involved) I was expecting it to be a lot worse. Not that it's good or right but getting kicked off the tour seems v.harsh.

Someone please tell me what country has raised VAT recently in this downturn.

Erm the UK did… from 15% back to 17.5%

    And Greece just has.

New Zealand will announce a rise in GST (their VAT equivalent) from 12.5% to 15% in their budget tomorrow

I bought a Raleigh 'Max' complete with reflective paint that still works in 1995(from Halfords -300 Quid). Steel, one of the last made in the UK before shifting manufacturing to Asia I'm told. latest guise is as my un-nickable commuter (because it's so bloody heavy) I now have two British made bikes as I also now have an orange.

No experience with the tower pump but
Two years ago I had issues with the connections at the base of 'Blackburns' X6 lights which meant they either didn't work at all or would go off suddenly over rough stuff, returned to Blackburn rep via LBS & fixed free of charge under lifetime warranty.
Then not so long ago the waterproof switch on their Mars rear light that I have fell out ,this was also replaced under warranty.
NB. I'm in NZ, I didn't have a receipt for either item, and the X6 lights were 4 years old and bought in the UK. I got the impression it very much depends who the rep is

Just about to start! listening on the Radio in Auckland after getting the kids off too bed. Although I'm a British ex-pat here I'd love to see New Zealand get to South Africa. I was 12 in 1982 and remember running home from school to watch England play France (Bryan Robsons quickest WC goal) and the last really decent Scotland team Narey, Strachan, Dalglish, Hansen etc (of course we didn't know it then) win 5-2 against NZ.
