Spend the money on an XTR shifter and buy a Zee RD as it’s cheaper and lighter.

I broke mine and was in the Alps 3 weeks later. The plaster cast kept everything secure and I could still hold on to the bars ok. The cast rubbed right through the grip though and I was lucky only to have one fall all week. If you can hold on to the bars some easy singletrack or road is always an option.

Much prefer my 55s over talas 36s, but I too find them a bit soft for the slower techy stuff. Went over the bars twice on my first ride! I need to spend a bit of time faffing but this Avy cartridge review has got me thinking.

More likely to crash if you’re unfit and trying to keep up with your mates I’d say

Katec, don’t bother looking elsewhere, mainly because he’s a fellow mtber and his bearings for my Mavic sx’s have sofar lasted twice as long as the originals.

I use Panaracer Razers pumped up hard, great for any sneaky bits of singletrack on my commute home.

Just bought a BFe and think it’s an awesome bike, but I’d always go for a FS if I only had one bike.

As above, you have to be good to pull off neon pink. Neon yellow is wicked with the right colour of components. Had mine done white as I have white forks and wheels, looks ace.

I bought a second hand Orange 5 that came with a CCDB, always fancied a rp23 for doing Tour de Ben and similar type rides. Can someone tell me if the med/med tune will be ok for my bike please.

Raced XR2s at Knockhill for a few seasons. Made me completely broke, so glad I’ve now got kids as it makes it impossible to think about doing it again.

I’d go for the zee as it can be had in a short cage rather than a medium.

Friend of mine uses a short cage Zee on his Blur lt 29. I think the gearing is 24 32 front with a 11-36 rear, works fine.

Oasis, Inspiral Carpets, Cooper Temple Clause (first time supporting Embrace), Embrace, funnily enough all 6 times. Seen John Lydon 7 times, 5 with PIL and 2 with the Sex Pistols.

I took a while to make up my mind also, 36 Floats, Devilles, Lyriks or these. 175g heavier than tha 36 talas I took off but my are they worth it. Super plush and no more arm ache after a longish descent.

Did Glen Clova to Loch Muick and back today. Climb up to Bachnagairn had some parts covered in ice and the hike a bike up was slippy in parts, not enough to spoil the ride though. Did the Corrie Chash descent which was pretty much clear of ice bar a few small sections near the bottom. Climb back over Capel Mounth had quite a bit of snow but was frozen solid so grippy enough to get you up without having to walk. Descent down to Clova was ace as always, a few areas with sheet ice just before entering the trees. Only down side was it was bloody cold.
