Fuerteventura is the warmest of the Canary Islands as it’s closest to the Sahara. We went there in February and it was around 26 degrees towards the end of the week so warm enough, for me, to use the swimming pools!

We’ve got a bean to cup machine from Miele similar to the photo. It was very pricey but was a 50 th birthday present from Mrs Stern. We’ve been very happy with it and as far as we are concerned it makes great coffee. It’s had some serious use, too what with at some point there has been eight people at home! We had one problem with milk frothing part of the machine which was still under warranty and Miele sent a box and we sent the machine to Miele and a week later we had perfectly working machine back.

And a little tip from a friend of mine who is a plumber….turn the valves off and on again at least once a year to make sure they don’t jam.

    No

So how are the taps on your bath connected to the mains water supply?

Have you not got valves/ taps in the wall under the sink? Just turn them off.

Isn’t the T7 literally just a glorified VW Caddy?

The main track would be the easiest way to the top. There has been a lot trail building going on in the last few years. Best is to have a look on YouTube under Wrekin DH trails. One  starts near the antenna and few on the opposite side. You could park in Wellington and ride up which would take you past the Ercall which also has some good riding.

Maybe the introduction of the ˋ idiot test´ as in here in Germany would be a good idea for drink/ drug drivers. Basically if you lose your driving license through drink/ drug driving you not only have to retake your driving test but also go through psychological evaluation with another test at the end of it . You also have to be clean for 12 months before you can do the test and you are blood tested regularly.

As others have said it really is only suited to very dry conditions. I found the sidewalls very delicate, too.

I was absolutely shocked when a friend of mine told me how much he paid for two season train tickets from Luton to London. You could buy a new car for the same price!

Have you thought about a robot mower? Some specialize for steep slopes and they automatically mulch the lawn. Take quite a bit to set up but once done just need to keep an eye on keeping them clean of grass/mud build up.

My son is in the Netherlands studying and the student accommodation situation there is dire. As a foreign student you don’t even get a look in at shared student houses which are all controlled by the estate agencies. In the end we had to give a months rent under the table as did three other families we know and pay 800 euros a month all inclusive for his room! Same situation for my older son in Berlin. Having kids going to Uni is an expensive business!!

Corsica is great for road cycling but as said the standard of driving on the main roads is terrible. I had so many fast near misses. I was mainly on the east side of the island and once away from the main road the mountain road riding was sublime.

@Tracey. Another option is this campsite in Fieberbrunn https://tirol-camp.at/ which is direct on at the cable car station. It’s part of the Leogang and Saalbach area.

Are you still based in Germany op? Saalbach-Hinterglemm and also Leogang have a range of trails for all abilities. Not just the mad lines you see on videos. A lot of German friends really rate Meran in Italy. I’ve never been so can’t say how easy or difficult it is. One area I’d really like to go riding in is Sexten in the Dolomites. I was skiing there over Xmas and the area is stunning with a lot of cycling infrastructure.

The later you leave it towards October the greater the risk of having crap weather. You may get lucky or you might get snow. At that time of year I’d be looking at Italy rather than France. Finale Ligure is a popular destination and there are a few package companies that operate there. There are uplift services and the trails end on the beach.

I had the 25 5000s on last season as tubeless. Had one puncture that sealed almost immediately the whole time and also rode on gravel tracks too with no issues.

I’ve got the second generation Air9 RDO frame. It was built with a bit compliance than the original frames but it is a razor sharp and racing bike. You need to ride it precisely or it can get out of hand pretty quickly. As others have said the rear is fairly unforgiving and I find the geometry a bit too steep for steep technical stuff. Mine has a 27.9 diameter seat post which also makes dropper posts a bit more limiting ( I use a KS LEV). In all not bad, light but there are more progressive frames out there. The third generation frame is altered to 120mm forks AFAIK.

The Côte d’Azuris lovely. I’ve stayed there a lot but mainly on camping sites. Seillans is nearer Fréjus/ St. Raphael. Some nice sandy beaches and a lots of touristy things to do and a bit less bustle than Nice. St, Maxime quieter still. Port Grimaud is well worth a visit IMO. If you want a quiet bay then Plage d’Agay is wonderful and you are at the foothills of the Esterel mountains. Plus the road from Agay to Cannes is spectacular.

Surely it would be easier to just have a license tax like we do here in Germany. If you are over 18 you have to pay GEZ if you watch TV or not. It also covers radio and internet use.

Cinque Terre is Not that far from Florence. Apart from the leaning tower Pisa is a bit of a dump. Livorno I found a bit more interesting. Also the coast from Livorno going south has some really good snorkeling spots or sandy beaches depending on what you want. When you are in Sienna , San Gimignano is well worth a look. I’ve never been but a lot of Italians always recommend Bari and Lecce on the opposite coast to Naples. But TBH I found Rome a really interesting place. The public transport was easy to use ( we were camping) and there was even a really good cycle lane that took us along the river right into the city centre. Didn’t feel quite so bustling as other major capital cities.

I thought Serfaus-Fis-Ladis had a lot to offer all levels of skiers/ snowboarders. Was a while ago I was there but I can remember there being a few lovely long wide blue pistes with cable car lift back to the top. I was in Maxyrhofen a few weeks ago which has a lot to offer beginner skiers with lots of narrow flat pistes traversing the steeper red pistes that would be a bit challenging for snowboarders but there seemed to be a lot of Brits on the piste there.

All the above have great drum sounds but not the snare in particular. For me this snare sound has been pretty influential.

Get rid of those baskets above the door and put your bike there. You can admire it all day long then! ;-)

    What dates?
Roterstern. Fasching kommt ein Bischen spaeter dieses Jahr oder?

Fasching’s biggest day is Rosenmontag which is the 20 February this year. That is assuming OP is thinking about Germany or Austria to go skiing.

If you can afford it then starting your child skiing at 7 is the ideal age IMO. The modern ski schools have a full on nursery programme with the younger children complete with food and other non skiing actuivities. Your child is learning with other children which is much less stressful than trying to teach them by yourself.

Ischgl is a good option as it’s high ( most of the peaks are over 2500m). Saalbach-Hinterglemm/Leogang/Fieberbrunn is also a huge area and family friendly. Also Zillertal has lots of different ski areas including Mayerhofen and the option of summer skiing on the Hintertux glacier. We’ve spent a lot of time with our children at the Zillertal ski circus at Zell. It’s also a big ski area with a lot of non skiing options in The Valley with Innsbruck only 40 minutes away by car.

I was there in the summer last year. We did a round trip in the camper starting and finishing in Golfo Aranci. I was on my road bike so can’t comment on MTBIng but I found the best riding around Alghero ( the coastal road is absolutely beautiful). Bearing in mind it was really hot and we always camped on the coast so I can only comment on the interior from the point of view of driving but the mountainous region in the south east had the feel of the Alps and was a lot cooler than the rest of the island so no idea what it’s like in winter. Also the route we took from Alghero to Palau passed through some stunning scenery I would like to try on a bike. Bear in mind the road quality is pretty awful on the entire island with huge potholes everywhere which meant descending was taking your life in your hands-

I usually watch the races the next day on YouTube. Sometimes there is no commentary or Flemish/Dutch commentary. That way you get to hear the correct pronunciation of the Belgian riders’ names! :-)

Without fail my Garmin monitors start playing up as soon as the battery is replaced. The straps last pretty well. I changed to a Wahoo strap and monitor which works better as without fail after six months it rusts up and I get a brand new one form Wahoo under the warranty scheme! 😎

Problem with Austria in the summer is you aren’t guaranteed nice weather. If you go over to Italy the weather is generally better. I always recommend Lake Garda. Lots of great riding ( with uplift services available), lots of water sports and lots of restaurants and shops to lighten your wallet!

Have you thought about hiring a camper/ motorhome? Then you can tour around Central Europe.
