I’d agree with the above, both you’re choices seem a little too close to your 456 in riding style. If it is between them however i’d say Parkwood as i’ve heard the Big Wig is quite weighty and I can’t see it as much of a race bike.

Love that, proper attention to detail!

Where do you live and what sort of riding do you like? I’d be doing 2 days uplift at BPW, Cwmcarn, Afan, Brechfa, FOD, Coed Y Brennin, Snowdon and Llandegla personally – In fact it’s exactly what i’m planning for next summer.

I’ve been looking at one all evening, I don’t race but do everything else like fast group rides and long solo rides so would this be perfect?

My brother has a Slash 7 with every part changed which i’m selling on his behalf now. There are a few things to consider with the slash one being it’s extremely hard to fit a coil shock to one, the shock has to be internally milled and have top hats custom made to fit – Not a cheap job my brother got a CCDB made to fit and it absolutely transforms the bike. Another thing is the snapping chainstays, I have yet to see a pre 2014 without the updated chainstay that has not snapped regardless of riding style or use, my brother has the updated stays off the 2014 fitted to rectify this. They can be built up pretty light and climbing with one is not a chore at all, my brother climbs his around Dartmoor no issues at all and if you’re doing rocky decents it’s a beast, just like a light mini session. Sure it might be a little too much bike for some riding but when your throwing it around downhill easily and it climbs well who ares. I always believe that the climbing ability is down to weight, shock tune and suspension design therefore a well sorted Slash should climbing not to desimilar to the Remedy at all but is a better decender. I’ve got to say it helps how good they look too…

Any questions post back here or send me an email and i’ll try and help.

Came back from Morzine a few weeks ago myself and found a few things out. I took my 160mm Ibis and my brother rode a Trek Slash, for the first 7 days we had non stop rain and the trains were the muddiest i’ve ever ridden. The AM bikes were good here as being a bit lighter they were easier to pick cleaner lines on and muscle around in the gloop. There wasn’t much in it when it came to jumping and because of the weather we rarely left Morzine and Lets Gets so the trails we rode didn’t involve huge drops or jumps. On the first day the trails dried out the braking bumps started to form and the bikes got a hammering. We blew a set of Pikes, 8 spokes and made 3 wheels unrideable in one day on bikes with expensive kit. The bikes rode really well but at times they felt outgunned despite over taking loads of DH bikes and I was disapointed to get home with a big bill to repair my ‘good’ bike. If I had enough money to swap the parts out to more burly stuff for out there i’d take a 160mm bike again but for next time I’ll be building a tough DH bike that stands up the the terrain more and I don’t worry about as much.

Marquis drive is right beside the end of the dog and very easy to join on to and do the final section to the shop, there is also a car park by the campsite called penkridge bank I beleive which I use a lot. As Blob said you can also park just off the Hendsford road (I think) at the water works and just do the monkey or cross the road and do the dog too!

It’s a Trek Slash, It’s not snapped through just a crack.

Looks like things will get ugly then..

And on that note i’ll end this thread and order the expensive version

    -coat on, out the door

Thanks for the replies, do you have any idea of the weight and which year is yours? I’m looking at a Medium which is 16″. She’s coming to the alps with us this year and has shown a interest in the likes of Les Gets green and well as pottering about town so I’d rather buy something a little stronger and confidence inspiring which i’ll probably then sell when shes back and buy something more suited to this country.

Sorry should have said second hand is what im looking at. I do pretty much all my work my self so im happy to buy something that needs a few hours in the stand and a few parts from the spares box if it saves her a chunk. I’m not bothered about WSD frames in particular as shes quite tall and fits a gents 17ish frame pretty well. Maybe I’ll look into the Kona a bit more, she’d only be commuting 2 miles tops and shop trips etc.

Any betting shops taking bets on Marc winning every single race this season? The only that I can see stopping him is dirty play

I think this will be my way to try out a fun trail 29er. I suspect i’ll be building a frame up very soon

    If anyone is interested i’ve got a 150mm 26 / 120mm 29 air shaft i’m selling. I saw a few people might be able to use it to convert 140 29 – 120?

I considered doing this on my Mojo HD but some online research suggested that the diameter of my rubber queen 2.2s on flow exs had exactly the same diameter as some schwalbe RRs on crests. So surely the feel of racing ralphs over rubber queens is going to make a much more significant different to the feel of the bike vs the 650b wheels? Can anyone confirm this?

If anyone knows where I can get a 26″ 160 shaft please post it up or email me. I have a 150 to swap if needed

I was there meeting my brother but not riding, It looked like so much fun despite the weather and will be entering a round this year no doubt. If anyone saw us we were the people sorting bikes by a blue transporter by the entrance haha

RS, That’s absolutely gutting. That was the exact app I am currently developing. I did a good search but found nothing like it at all. Great minds think alike eh,

Well back to the drawing.board for me I guess, thanks for the advice guys

Does everyone use websites now or is there a good advice book out there I could read over the weekend/week?

Looks really nice, that. Any idea on frame and full bike weight? I was looking at building one frame up for longer xcx rides and trail centres

Sounds like a very fair price, great spec and a desireable frame I’m sure you’d get around that for it. Personally I’d sell the spares separate and keep the base price low and attractive. I’ve just built a 120/140mm bike for my dad and rode it last night rather than my mojo and absolutely fell back in love with fun short travel bikes. I’d love this if I had the cash.

I’m just outside Lichfield, so I think peaks is a bit far for a 12 start. Hopton looks good but is still 70miles. Is the Pearce loop any good? Dry?

Dropped the chain on the first time out on my N/W with a 11-34 and zee mech on upper cliff, Cannock. Funnily it never dropped at Stile cop but i’m going to get a top guide for security.

Brilliant for natural/xc riding but just OK for rutted trail centres and rougher riding is what i’d say

As always splitting will get you more if you have the time, but i’d say complete it has to be worth around £500

The frames they’re selling are HD frames for £1500 which is a different bike. I bought some new oldd stock Stans/ibis wheels from them last week and they turned up two days later. I assume they’re cleaing out all their old Ibis models

I still don’t understand how it was so far south of it’s starting point, surely such an experience pilot knows where the nearest land is should they need to land. Still, sad for the families

I really like the campsite, the toilet block is spot on, the pool at the back is great for a walk around and the biking speaks for itself. Beautiful place too

I’ll be taking my 160 Ibis Mojo HD this year too. I went two years ago with a Norco team DH but I found DH bikes too restrictive on which trails you can get to/ ride.

Probably a bit more than £700 with the reverb and XTs, maybe £800-900

Just what I wanted to hear, as long as they aren’t too heavy i’m sure we’re onto a winner. I’ll email you directly if I do get a spare set, if not best of luck finding some

What do you think to the Ibis hubs and wheels overall Alex? I’ve just ordered a set in 135×10. I’m not sure when they will turn up but the listing said a maxle and extra adaptors are included so if on the off chance I get 142 as well your ore than welcome to them. I expect they’ll take a couple of days to arrive

My carbon Mojo HD weighs 31.9lb with my digital scales but I love the way it rides. I’d just upgrade to ligher and stronger when things break.

I’m guessing the top spec bike will be 170mm and the two lower spec bikes will be 160mm. I didn’t think pikes went to 160mm and the green bike looks slightly less slack
