I feel for you, I’ve had a few issues with my Capra too but the bike itself is well worth the hype. Not the wonder bike all the mag make out but you’d be hard pressed to find something much better with even double the money. Grab a spare shock from PinkBike for when it goes wrong!

No matter what I do I want a 2013 Specialized Demo 8 carbon in black and white. I won’t settle until I get a large one!

My advice would be buy it! You’ll have a fun 6 months at worst if you regret buying it.

Would I be better off just hardwiring a HDMI cable? I’d prefer AppleTV as I have a Iphone and Ipad too so can stream from them all. DVD isn’t an issue it’s just for streaming online and Iplayer really

Sheffield is a good shout, Cardiff too. Have a look on BUCS at the road cycling tables too see who has the strongest/busiest club

Probably not much advice but maybe something to consider.

Being an ‘Accountant’ doesn’t have to mean you’re going to sit behind a desk 20 hours a day in a cream room. I’m a final year accounting and business student now and while I realise I’ll need to spend some time in practise I don’t intend to just create financial statements all day (For the record all the practises I’ve worked in so far have been filled with great people). If he looks into it a little more and plays to his strengths there are finance jobs everywhere. I’m hoping to work within the motorsport/automotive industry which doesn’t sound too boring to me at all.

Great job OP you’ve gone above what most people would even think of, if nothing comes out of it is keep an eye on forums etc but just get on and ride it.

While I’m here mine was a specialized rockhopper South Wales !

Thanks for the replies guys some sound advice! It’s predominately going to be used for web and word processing however I’ll also be doing video and photo editing so ideally want it smooth and powerful enough for that. I hadn’t even given educational discount a thought, I’m a third year student!

Mboy when you have 5 minutes could you drop me an email about yours I could be interested

Same for me, That black bronson could cost me dear if the TT is around 625mm

With your budget I’d be ordering a YT Tues CF Pro, no need to upgrade the spec, carbon, 27.5, modern geometry and light as you’ll find a DH bike. What more do you need?

If you’re not sorted by next weekend drop me an email, I will have mine back in Staffs by then!

Stoner, I’m only just starting to look but if you don’t mind sending me an email it can’t hurt!

Not to everyone’s taste but have you considered a YT Capra? I was heart set on a nomad but couldnt stretch to one so went for a Capra, I’ve only put circa 50 miles on it for far but it’s very well mannered at climbing and I have no complaints from it descending.

^^ You’re certainly using yours more than most, Fair play that’s a big drop!

I’m 6ft and I find my Capra pretty small, good in the seat tube with the 150mm reverb but a little short and low on the front for me, so I’d say definately large for you. I’m going to try some wider higher rise bars next. Where in the country are you?

I’m thinking of ordering a pair of 35 or 38mm rims in the next few days, If anyone has ordered a set recently and has changed their mind feel free to send me an email. :-)

Having an undead in my room right now leads me to believe this will be a very special frame indeed. I could be interested once people have put a few miles on them!

As above, I loved riding my DH bike but I can’t afford one and a 160mm bike so I sold it. If I could afford to keep another one I’d have one in a heart beat (selling my undead for this very reason).

Dh bikes are very expensive toys, if you can afford to keep one do it and just use it every so often for a laugh!

Gawton, Chipshop, FOD, BPW, Cwmcarn are all a good laugh on a DH bike

I Really like the look of the elite but the spec doesn’t warrant the price. The bikes are up on LL Bikes now too

Last two times been I’ve been there, there were kids on quads at the tops of the climb and two lads of MX bikes narrowly missed the uplift van coming the other way.

    Glad it’s been found safe!

If you do regret it, Sell it to me! :-)

Gawton is great, Tavi woodlands are just 2 minutes down the road. Join the two up and you’ve got more trails than you could ride in a dat ranging from fun easy tracks to jumpy line and full on DH race tracks

I was on the fence about these three cars until a black 918 S rumbled past my house two hours ago. Absolute incredible machine by far and away the prettiest car i’ve ever seen

    Class response from you

Unfortunately this story has nothing to do with cycling, there are people like that everywhere. Infact one of my favourite hobbies is winding them up – Keep up the good work.

Dani seems like a great guy but how he’s keeping his seat is beyond me. Not sure who I’d put money on to replace him, any ideas?

F1 and Moto GP was brilliant this weekend

I don’t think there has ever been one as Stevied says, It’s more a skills loop than a bike park, only 1 minute runs tops. If you’ve got something you can pedal up the slight hill you’d be at the top in a minute or two.

Yeti is another option as is the Capra, My brother rides a capra so I’m waiting to get some decent miles on it to see if the large is big enough

I’m looking to hopefully compliment it with a short travel full suss or hardtail later on for trail duties keeping this for dh the occasional trail centre and ‘enduro’ racing.

I’m 6ft, maybe a tad under so looks like a large will suit.

Hob Nob can I ask why you considered it to be a one trick pony? Isn’t it much of a climber?

I test rode a bronson on the same day and it felt a little harsh in comparison, a different beast to the nomad. One thing I can say for sure the quality of the Nomad was second to none, paint in particular.

It’s strange because a lot of people have put a 650b wheel in these no problem (according to t’interweb). Sell the wheels and throw some 650b wheels on there and I’m sure it’d look like a good buy to most people.
