Living down in Cornwall over the summer and I was bitten by the surfing bug, happens every year. Surfed the best I ever have and loved every second of it but back in Stafforshire now so have decided to sell my shortboard and will invest in a hardtail and lights. Sometimes career has to come first.

That said my longboard will be staying and come spring I’ll be drive down the the south most weekend!

    That sucks mate.

I ride Cannock most weeks and always park at the water works, I’ve never heard of this before and usually on a saturday the place is rammed. I’m on a lot of local Buy/sell groups so will keep an eye out for you. I’m sorting through a load of clothes at the minute so i might have some stuff of use. My email is in my profile, send me an email when you get chance and I’ll do what I can.

I’ve got 150mm 36 floats on my hightower but the front feels a little low for my liking. Will be extending them to 160mm when I get chance as I think the frame would suit it well.

Mavic Crossmax XLs are my go to strong/light wheel. Trying carbon at the minute which are really nice but a little more than your budget.

Bronson may be a good shout, nomad is a big bike that charges well. Loses some agility though which you may miss. Feel free to drop me an email, I’ve ridden a few of your contenders and could give you some of my opinions for what they’re worth!

My girlfriend has just picked up a Nissan Juke. I’ve been out in it a few times and it’s ace, really refined, smooth and the 1.5dci engine pulls well. Not huge boot space but easy to use and a bargain really

My guess would be around £200-300

I’m a big fan of X-fusion forks, they feel super plush and well controlled. I’d defo buy again.

That said I like Pikes too and as others have said you can find a pair for £200 if you wait around

Thanks for all the replies and to those who offered advice. I’ve emailed a few, Mark I will email you today if that’s OK?

Although I didn’t take it to degree level I’m very interested in engineering and design works so like the idea of specializing somewhere.

Thanks for all the feedback, sounds like what I’ve got in my head is about right.

m0rk that sounds exactly what i’m after, please tell me you’re near Staffordshire?

Thanks for the reply, my degree is in business and accounting so I’m partly qualified as an accountant. Is there any particular qualifications you’d recommend? CIPS looks to be the most desired

You going for a Mondraker style zero extension stem on it? Have you seen the reach figures?!?! 2017 medium is a bit big for me even with the stock 45mm stem…

Maybe I need to have a sit on the medium then, hmm. Reach is only 10mm longer than my current bike which doesn’t feel too long at all. Don’t suppose you’ve got a large in?

North Devon Croyde area? Great surf and close enough to Dartmoor and Exmoor with loads of riding. Failing that maybe Cornwall and ride some of the local stuff like Grogley, Cardinham and Dartmoor / Bodmin moor?

Thanks for the offer variflex but I’m after a large 2017 model!

Will have to work out whether I can sell the parts for enough to make it work financially

Had a bit of drizzle today but nothing to trouble the tracks at all. Last monday the way marked stuff was dry with a few puddles, on friday it was actually dusty in parts and the off piste was running great

Picked it up on Tuesday and I’m loving it so far, just like bad company. Maps are all huge tactical maps!

Finding the weapons a little underpowered at the minute, takes a good few shots to kill with most. Hardcore mode looks to be coming soon which I always prefer anyway.

I’ve found a potential location for an early December jumble, perfect time to raise some cash before christmas.

If I managed to arrange all this, who would be interested in having a table? It’d probably be £10 for a table just to cover costs and probably £1 entry.

So it looks like we’ve got a few events spread out, would be better if there was one larger, regular event well advertised. I’ll see what I can do location wise and post back here – got a few ideas in the pipeline

There has got to be, a bit of spamming on here, facebook and at Cannock etc and I’m sure we could get a decent turn out.

I’ll start the cogs turning I think. Quick Q for those interested – Would Aldridge be okay location wise. Around 20 mins to Cannock for a ride after? If not I’ll look for a suitable place closer to Cannock

If there was enough demand I would consider putting one together, I have a location I could use not far from the Chase? If all went well could lead onto an monthly/other month event.

I’ve got a tonne of stuff not worth posting but worth selling.

Interested in the FoD one too will keep an eye out.

What we need is a Zero TR 29, I need a winter bike now but I’m really enjoying the bigger wheels at the minute!

Finally managed to get mine built. Only ridden it up the road so far but it feels ace, front end is a little lower than I was expecting so I might extend the 36s to 160 to compensate. Hope crank is a stand in until I get find a XX1 to suit but looks and feels great. Build is 27.4 without pedals. Will be getting a Float X2 when they’ve finished exploding

    Rosss

That would make it a seriously capable bike, I’ll look into it!

I haven’t even ridden my Monarch yet but it seems like the X2 is the way to go

Stu, would also be interested to hear the results of that. I saw a picture somewhere captioned seat tube damage from a longer shock on a Hightower I’m trying to refind now. Not sure whether it was a longer stroke or eye to eye though.

Got 150mm 36s for mine with 51 offset. Going to extend them to 160mm after seeing this thread!

Hugh I need those wheels on mine (or atleast the graphics)

Yes should have said the Capra still has a year warranty but the nomad will be second hand. Still, seems pretty conclusive, think I’ll give it a go

    Rosss

Thanks for the reply. I think I’ll go for it, I’ve always felt the Capra was a tad small so the extra 5mm might help me out too

Had a few rides on my Evil Following now. I’ve never ridden a bike that climbs as well as this, the thing is so stiff and covers miles like nothing else i’ve ridden. I was only 15 seconds slower on a 4 minute rough decent at Cwmcarn in the wet on it vs my Capra in the dry too which is pretty impressive in my books…

It’s obviously the issues are well spoken for not that I’ve seen any of them. The price may be another issue, you’re more than welcome to try mine out

Rode Cafell today too, it’s riding really well. I’m glad now my brother’s back wheel exploded and we didn’t do Twrch!

Thanks, I’m 100% I made the right choice size wise now still unsure if I should have gone for the red though. You’re build makes the black look epic but I haven’t got the money for the bling.

Glad to hear they ride well. Excited now to build mine!

How tall are you if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve got my large frame here to build just wondering on sizing

I’ve been riding a enduro 29 for the last few months, it’s been my first 29er and has totally sold me on them. Maybe not as fun but it’s much quicker. I need to get around to selling it now my larger replacement is here.

Got one on order, went for the red but now wondering if I should change to the black and change the decal colours? Anyone care to post up their bikes?

Just building my Following and am running a 2.2 ardent, may have a rethink now!

Everyone raves about the bikes, trouble the warranty seems shocking! Hope you get it sorted out.

Interesting, your replies were along the lines of what I was thinking but the leased car is coming out over double the price of the 2nd car. 2nd hand is a 2.0 Golf GTI, lease is 1.8 Polo GTI

Deck it out with hope kit and you’ll be set for a good few years
