Renton, i’m not tuning expert but i’ve had to bike a year and not found a sweet spot yet. I’m not saying it’s awful just feels harsh when compared to my mates remedy and zesty.

2011 Specialized Stumpjumper Elite. I love it to bits. I ride the usual trail centre light DH sort of stuff. It pedals so well and climbs brilliantly. Mine has the brain which is a fantastic XC shock however I’ve found that when things get rough and when your doing larger jumps and riding faster I feel that it can’t cope. It feels rough and unresponsive however does exactly what it’s meant to on smaller stuff and smoother natural terrain. I looked at changing the shock to the rp23 from a evo which I feel would make the bike like a mini dh bike. Just my input anyway.

Colournoise – Great shot, i’ve seen that picture before and it reminds me of Lichfield, Staffordshire everytime! I love the Renault sports.

What size would you be after?

Yeah I think some Fox 34’s in 150 are in order here but I need some wider bars and a reverb first.

Stumpy elite. I love it so much I’ve got a long list of upgrades for it. Still deciding if I should upgrade to 150 or 160mm forks.

Shimano XT’s seem to be a pretty sound choice however I’ve just bought some Zee’s for my DH bike like v4’s, Supposedly awesome power and great modulation.

Stumpy Elite. I love it but if your doing more DH / uplift stuff I think the EVO with 150/160 forks would be perfect. I have a DH bike for that stuff.

I’m in Y13 now and will be finsihing in the summer. I cant agree more than schools are useless in suggesting pathways and helping. I went with what I enjoy English, Product design and business. I wish i’d taken maths and a science with my english, they looks good with pretty much anything and without maths so many uni courses are closed. Ultimately, maths would be a solid choice and even though I really didn’t/dont enjoy it, suffer it. it’s worth it. I did a short stint in a LBS as a sales assistant and really liked the idea of mechanicing as I do the majority of my work at home. I considered getting Cytech trained however at 18 it is just too expensive to get a saturday/monday job.

All I can add is keep tidy and be honest, No-one knows everything but you can learn more. Good luck

I’m gonna throw cornwall slash Devon in there. Plenty of great coast riding all around, Bodmin moor, Exmoor and DartmooR, Tavistock etc.. Then you’ve got Exeter Plymouth and truro for big hospitals. Trelisk might be worth a look.

Thanks for the suggestion I’ll check them out now. I fancy having a go at doing my own however I will be using these for DH so they need to be half decent and are 150mm spacing, Am I right in thinking thats harder?. I think I might pick up a cheap rim and hub and have a go myself over christmas though.

This is definately a XC orientated forum but there isn’t a busy forum like STW for dh. Ride IO is dead in comparison! I do a little DH when I can. Usually ride Stile cop but have done Cwmcarn, Gawton, Tavi and a fortnight in france. Had a 2006 Norco team DH but i’m just finishing a 2010 Giant Glory 00. I’ll post some pictures up when im done!

Thanks for all the input. It looks like some money is starting to be repaid and as I said eariler I want to make sure everyone gets their money back before the police make matters complicated and risk losing someones cash. I have strongly considered the police and will probably that it further in due course however I am only 18 myself and initially thought my word against a 16 year olds is going to be put down as a play ground fight and taken no further. Now I realise I support I have I think we should take this a step further, once everyone has recieved their money.

I realise he may be doing the same on eBay however I only started this thread to get the STW’er money back and keep STW as clean as possible. If he has done the same on other sites I expect the police or another Forum member from that site will do as I have.

Update for anyone interested, an email I just recieved from Danny, not Jamie this time:

Ross, I have heard about what people are saying on STW can you make it clear that I am 100 percent paying the people back, I have listed items on auction and they end on wednesday, hense the date, that is how I’m receiving the funds to pay the people back. He refunded me instantly when he got caught. I think he’s 16 so just assumed he spent all the money he got and is waiting for his parents to bail him out. I was giving him until wednesday when he said people would be refunded by before things get nasty.

Thanks for posting that. Hopefully we’ll get everyones money back then looks like this will have to go to the police.

He first told me that he had transfer the money back to PayPal from his bank. Suggests to me he was trying to move the money into cash ASAP to avoid comebacks.

No worries Gary, looks like a lot of people have written the money off however there is no reason why he should have that money not you. If he doesn’t cough up post on here and fire me an email over and i’ll keep on to him.

Convincing yet still no explanation as to why:

He is trading under several names.
Emails with the name Jamie Banks yet my money went to Danny Madden
His Paypal address and emails have been linked to scamming for months
Why have so many people bought stuff off him and recieved no contact or items for months – Certain proof of a scam?
He is only refunding now as he knew if he didn’t I would contact the police

I can’t understand why he doesn’t give up and admit defeat.

No Phone number 2bit however if you drop me a email to the address in my profile I can forward you an email whicb he asked people to contact him on to sort refunds.

If I’m correct he’s a 16 year old boy. When I caught him out yesterday I assume he realised the next step I would take was police and gave in.
