Wiggle and Halfords were both deals on these circa £270 when I bought my flow exs yet I chose to get them from Leisure lakes in Wolverhampton because I like to spend as much as possible in any good bike shop where possible to keep it open for the days when I just fancy looking at new bikes.
The guys in store reserved a set which I collected that day they also let me chose the axle converters I needed and charged me their online price which was £20 lower without me asking. While I was there I bought a few bits I wouldn’t have done online.

I think what i’m trying to say as long as your shop is good enough and service is good what they’re selling for online is worthless as people will always go to a bike shop. The big Halfords order will probably have boosted Hope considerably in hard times which can only mean more quality products for us for longer.

As has been said. Halfords are trying to become a big player in the cycle industry at the moment so I would assume they’ll be using them as a popular product and a loss leader to get people into the stores to demonstrate they have good offers and improved customer service. It sounds to me like Hope are being very fair in explaining their pricing and Halfords will be taking a short term hit on them.

I lost £20 in ASDA once. I’ve never been the same but I struggle on day to day.

Rode there on Saturday and the condition were pretty poor, the reds and blues held up really well with loads of grips though

Bought new via an individual on eBay. Shimano replaced the caliper under warranty luckily

I’ve had nothing but trouble with my zee brakes. Ended up swapping a lever and caliper due to no thread in the caliper and an unstoppable leak from the lever. Had no trouble with Avid R SLs but I’m going to hopes next.

I’d give you 200 but I’d say a medium with a kashima 23 would be worth 350 if not more

I’m currently at university studying business and accounting hoping to one day run my own business and investments

Strangely enough I enjoy the maths most the time, some of the management talk can drag on though. Loads of time for riding in S Wales too!

I get paid £10k per year from the government which I pay to the uni and my landlord

People are individuals they will ride what they want when they want, it has absolutely zero effect on you.

I’m not feeding the troll here but one thing I absolute HATE in life is one person thinking it’s ok to mock another person and talk down to them because they deem themselves to be or to know better than them. Thats plain and simple bullying

So to conclude some guys were proud of their riding and maybe took safety precautions because they value their health or have others who rely on them being able to work and you though,

“Haha they’re not as cool as me or as fast, idiots”

Grow up you pathetic waster, I’ve met kids more intellectual than you

Isn’t it about time you posted some race results and riding shots, we need some imagery to supplement the dreamy posts.

Have you thought about doing a ‘real man’ no-nonsense, Mr T style skills course at Greno or Chatel?

Check out the pinkbike review from a few weeks back, seems pretty decent to me and they’re more DH based

Up north, there is nearly always one at the rental at the bottom of the cable car, if not head back down the road to a logging area on the opposite side and there will be someone riding one on the trails at the back of there.

Stayed at Les marmottes for PPDS and two weeks after last year and it was pretty much 100% bikers there. Great site, great facilities, stunning views all around and a fantastic little pub straight down the main road. I’d love to stay there next year however the route into Morzine involved some pretty big climbs that were unrideable on DH bikes and an absolute killer after a day out riding. If we cant fill a chalet in Morzine next year we’ll be back.

Ibis mojo? I use mine for exactly what you want it for. Now I just need a 120mm hard tail to compliment it

If you can’t be arsed to post most places will take your forks in and post them off but they’ll charge you for their time/postage making it probably more expensive. Swinnerton’s on the chase do servicing but im not sure if its in house.

Once you’ve done the misson where you drop a car off for Solomon? I think, in his hanger at LS airport you can buy the hanger so you can steal fighters and hide them there.

Front and rear axles can change to anything apart from 150mm rear IIRC so you’d be fine there. I really rate their hubs, easy to convert and rebuild and seem builtproof. I spec them on all my bikes unless I can afford something a bit lighter and less reliable. Those wheels would be a good investment

Although you;d hear a lot of rubbish about Superstar components I had a set of Am wheels from them in sale for £110 and I was really suprised at the build quality and finish, I’d have a look. Other options if you want to spend a little more are Crossrides and easton haven but I dont believe the havens are interchangeable.

For the type of riding your doing i’d say hope hoops with Stans Crest rims, or Arch Ex rims if you think you’ll be doing a bit more aggressive riding.

I’m a bit skeptical about putting a dirty bike in a bike bag but I reckon if I can solve that one bike bag under the bed and one under the desk would be fine. Maybe a simple hardtail would be better than a carbon 160mm full suss as i’d care less about that!

Privately own student halls, Personally I think I could get my road bike in and if there are any questions i’d give it a quick wipe down and put it in a bike bag. There is no running water outside the building for me to wash a MTB with so I couldn’t put it in a bag plastered or take it inside in such a state

EDIT : bike is at home now. The bike would have to be pretty immaculate to come inside especiallly tyres as im on the 3rd floor and the place is pretty clean

I was in the same boat a few months back. I found a like-new Trek 1.2 for 280 so took the plunge. I’m a mountain biker at heart so at first I found it dull, a but same and planned to sell up until I started to set myself some goals such as PBs on strava, longer loop times and trying new routes. I found a really nice local 30 miler door to door and really started to enjoy it. It will never replace mountain biking but when its too late to travel to anywhere with the MTB in the car being out on a warm evening really makes it worth it.

IMO it’s just a strong version of XT. Ran one on my DH bike and my 1×10 enduro bike and I love them. Only reason I’d change is if I needed a wider range.

I think everyone is so desperate to make sure they’re riding the most up to date gear they forget its all about fun. I pick and chose what new tech I use and what suits me. FTR I ride with a full chain guide for security because my bike is used for DH runs not just single track

Bit of an update. Been here a few days now and just about settled in on usk way. I’m at city campus which is absolutely lovely and literally just 3 minutes away. I haven’t got my bike with me yet and I just ventured into the town centre – it’s a little more up to date then I expected but put it this way I’m glad I’ve got GTA on the way.

Mojo HD. In typical STW fashion im recommending the bike I have just bought but honestly:

    Light as it gets
    Strong and stiff
    Mine has a 140 RP23 and a 160mm coil interchangeable
It’s as good a climber as the stumpy I had before and far better than the pitch before that

    You know it makes sense.

Good to see another member on here! I think my advice is learn to balance and compromise,

I’ve just started uni so I balanced a course with better job prospects with a good riding location – Wales. I’m still settling in and i’ve not got a routine yet however stick at it and you’ll soon see when you can and how much time you’ll get. The outlook for us isn’t all that great, my career looks like i’ll be working long hours in a job that might not be that exciting but if anything it’ll mean when I do get to ride i’ll have a nice bike and savour it. Stick at the job and certainly dont quit without a back up plan.
