    NEXTIE
Holy thread resurrection! I’ve been a huge carbon rim fan for years now and now a good friend has started to import NEXTIE rims and wheel sets in the UK – it was only a matter of time. We weighed the above at 1570grams for the pair, nearly a 1kg saving on the OEM wheels! The ride feel is transformative, he’s planning on offering these for circa £750, for the money I’m pleased to say the least!

Does anyone rate the Forerunner 245 as a biking watch? Seems to tick all the boxes I want; Not too bulky for daily use, music for running without a phone and GPS tracking for Strava on the bike.

    Thanks all, some great suggestions.

I really fancied one as a winter / every day bike to fit alongside my enduro bike key for bigger trips away. Plan was to go for the comp, sell all components off and rebuild with sales / spares bin kit until I saw September for the black frame. Not sure if i’m sold on the grey / green.

@Jameso, any idea if there is a plan to offer the 2020 frame only option?

I’m only really planning on running 28c, maybe a tad wider. Probably around 90KG all in. Cheers

Played a couple of hours tonight, graphically it’s amazing but it hasn’t gripped me yet. Looks like a train robbery is imminent, I’ll give it another few hours tomorrow

I live a few miles south of Rugeley, feel free to drop me a PM / Email with any questions and I’ll do my best to answer! Once you’re settled drop a line on here and I’m sure there will be plenty of us who would be up for a ride to show you the local trails

Sounds like we’ll stick with Afan then, over-biked for sure.

    Check out Lord Hereford’s Knob.

As kind as the offer is, I’ve not had my tea yet. (Joking aside I’ll try and sensibly google this now!)

A Spesh Kenevo is what you want Ton.  Bulletproof machine, I spent 2 days on DH trails then a 3rd day looping red routes faster than my Hightower can. I’m still considering buying one but the only thing holding me back is being 23, I don’t really have a need.

By the same reckoning a Levo would be a hell of a bike. A carbon 29 Levo would be enough to get me to sell my Hightower…

I had a MK1 Ti I sold to buy my house. Of all the bikes I’ve had in the last few years it stands out as the most special. For covering the miles and trail centre blasts it’s about as good as hardtail get. The Switchback I had before it was a superb bike but didn’t leave the lasting impression of the Ti Sherpa. Will get another this year, probably with a slackest to knock a degree or two off the head angle.

I’d take a guess at around 2500 however with a spec like that splitting would bring the bigger cash.

After the pompous shop prick tried belittling me in front of his roadie mates who’d just came in, I made a decision never to darken the doors of my local shop, in Lichfield. Utter, utter prat.

I was going to take a guess at which one this is but to be honest all the shops are the same. We’re desperate for a good shop around here.

I stood in Swinnos last week contemplating one of these, beautiful in the flesh and you have to give kudos for the process they’ve taken in building it. For me I prefer the bigger wheels now however the Hope has so much going for it it’s still in contention. Slash 9.9 or HB 160?

    After buying my first house and having my first child over the summer my riding all but finished in July this year. From tomorrow i have a few realistic goals;

Ride 1000 miles in the year
    Ride the Welsh Velothon
    Ride in Morzine again
    Enter another round of Enduro

It’ll be interesting to come back to this is 12 months and see how far I got.

OT but do you mind me asking if you bought that or built yourself? If I am ever in a position to demolish the outhouse at the end of the garden I would love to build a small version of that!

Pushing this back to the top. Popped over my parents this evening and the mountain is growing. I think I need to implement a quick fix to sell a few boxes worth. Anyone know any reputable antiques dealers within 100 miles of Staffordshire

    58. I’m 23 now. Hopefully a lot earlier when I can start over payments however I feel I’ll outgrow this house anyway.

Thanks all for some good advice

There is some furniture and paintings that need proper valuation but the rest is mostly China and glassware. Anything named should be ok but the unnamed stuff may end up at the charity shop I feel

My feeling is getting an expert in to have a look through it all

Simple answer is no, as far as value for money goes they’re about as good as it gets. Other bikes, climb better, are lighter, decend better but I found the Capra is around the best long travel bike for respectable money if you want a decent spec. I’ve had a few years on one now so feel free if you want to chat about them. For what it’s worth I’d probably go large at that size but you really are boarderline..

Plenty of people about with them see if you can have a quick spin, if you’re Staffordshire area you’re welcome to a spin on mine

You’ll love it, I’m sold on the benefits of 29ers with sorted geometry.
The only thing that would get me off my Hightower is if Santa Cruz release the rumoured Nomad 29.

    Thread revival!

Well thanks for all your help, over Xmas I was offered a purchasing job within the motorcycle industry! A dream for me, so far so good I’m enjoying the challenges and involvement with engineering side of things.

If you’re ever down near Lichfield you’re welcome to try mine. Got a large and I’m 6ft.

    I’d go for that 100%.

From what I’ve read the sb66c is one of the best bikes going regardless of wheel size. I had 2012 talas 36 on my mojo and went to new pikes. The difference was far bigger than 26 to 650b ever was.

For sub £400 you can’t go wrong. I’ve got a set of 26 pikes for sale and that’s deperessing as I was hoping for £300 for mine!

I’m in the same position now with a slightly lower budget of 10k. Best I’ve found so far is a BMW 116d M Sport which I think I’ll go for.

That said if my budget was 13k you’d get a Mercedes A Class AMG pack I sat in last week. Really really nice inside and out.

Transporter T5 is also a decent option but high on tax and you don’t get low miles for that money

If it’s just one bike it does go once you know how to sit it. I’ve had 2 bikes in mine no issues but I do have my seat right back which doesn’t help the situation either.

If the bike is a priority I’d look elsewhere, that said they are ace to drive and have really enjoyed mine. Will be selling next week though to get something larger for work!

As mentioned above they are usually ace at replying. I emailed and left my number and got a call 10 minutes later. If they don’t have your size I’m fairly sure they’d be interested in having your frame in to make a kit to fit.

If not try shack wrap, Nick seems to be highly reccomended

Well, considering I just asked for car advice on STW that went surprisingly well.

Going to look at a test drive over the weekend after I’ve drooled over the cars at autosport show!

MPG figures sounds ace, my current car does 45 which I’m happy with so 55 would be great.

M1 would be a dream, looked at the M135i but it’s a stretch too far at the minute. Maybe next time.

Thanks for the link to the thread, will give it a read.

I do like the look of the X1 in the right spec and I like the idea of the higher driving position too

Think I’ll take a punt on the Gallibers. They seem pretty well reccomended

Have a look at Stanton bikes, I’ve just picked up a 2nd hand Switchback from on here. Fits your bill perfectly, frame quality looks spot on too, some really nice touches here and there. Will report back on ride quality over the weekend…

I’ve been told by all my friends, girlfriend, brother sister and pretty much all my colleagues I look like woody from toy story..
There are worse comparisons I guess

Yep 100% medium. I’m 6ft and borderline it being too small to be honest, you maybe even like a large with a 125mm drop post. You’re welcome to throw a leg over mine in Staffordshire. I had the seat stay changed on mine as I was unhappy with the paint quality which was super easy and a credit to Yt. No other issues at all, they’re not all bad ha!

Until I get chance to have a good look at the post it’s hard to say how much it will cost to fix, as it’s no longer holding air I’m guessing an internal seal has been damaged. I will contact RSF as soon as possible to gauge a cost.

As I said the buyer remains amicable and has even stated he’d be happy to buy it back if I fix it…. 8O

Paypal was all above board here, I sent an invoice and he paid with fees split so we should both be covered. Currently I think the most likely result will be me refunding the cost less the cost to fix split between us.

I was contacted directly through email, from my advert on here. Stupidly I don’t have a user name.
It was a stealth post I sold, my wanted add was for a non stealth which should arrive this week fro Paul up there ^^ :-) Edit cheers Chilled!

I considered returning it to the buyer again however I’m sure he could raise a Paypal dispute and end up with the money refunded and the post. Hmm tricky situation. Starting to think I may just have to suck up a loss here…

Damn, I hadn’t even considered that. All is amicable at the minute but I can’t see a way out to suit both. I’m just disappointed after selling on her for 5 years this is the first issue

My gut is telling me he’s shortened the hose and damaged something trying to get it fitted/bled
