@retro83 – YES! amazing scene – even watching it on silent at the back of a conference is making me a bit sad.

Another vote for Friston – if you’re fit afterwards you could cycle from there towards Brighton, have a play in Stanmer Forest (lots of nice singletrack) and then a few beers on the beach.

The opening sequence of Up, another Pixar classic.
Also the bit in Edward Scissorhands when they banish him from the street.

ps. I also cried once at an episode of Fresh Prince of Bel Air so I may be slightly over-sensitive.

I’ve got one of these for my G11 and it’s great for the cost. Obviously not as well made as the official Canon one but it’s a quarter of the price.

I love mine too. As others have said you need to get used to needing longer to stop.
I mostly ride mine on local rooty singletrack and while it’s far more challenging without suspension, it’s far more engaging IMO and has really benefited my riding generally.

Two years ago I started working at a new company, closer to home so suddenly had no commute and a lot of new colleagues who were hugely into cycling. Bought a hardtail on cycle2work and haven’t looked back. Single best activity I’ve even taken up.

I help big brands use the internet. It’s bloody great.

crazy-legs – thanks, might that try instead as wiggle are sold out of the one stoner suggested (in black anyway). Like the idea of extra padding.

Stoner – looks perfect – thanks.
That is one crazy/wicked looking bike BTW.

    thanks for the response.

Oldgit – it’s one of the new Focus Mares – AX2[/url]. Not sure what category of crosser it would fall into. It’s super light and feels properly solid so I think it will take a lot more than I’m capable of to break it.

chriswilk – not sure about tyre pressure – I’m fairly neanderthal when it comes to bike maintenance but from what you’ve said I’d guess they’re at the higher end as the bike feels incredible on the road but a bit skittish on mud/roots etc.

I think my main issue is being too heavy on the bike; will also try using the drops more – so far I’ve been grabbing the main bar as it’s feels safest.
    Thanks again.

Another vote for Paxos. Have visited the majority of the islands and Paxos is by far the least touristy. It’s tiny, and the beaches aren’t as long and sandy as they are elsewhere in Greece, but the general atmosphere and pace of the island is amazing.

Yunki: “bells are good PR for cyclists.. that is a fact”

Completely agree. I fitted a bell for the first time this morning and was amazed at the improved reaction from walkers. Of course there will be some ignorant ones but surely it’s better to rise above it and build some positive feeling for the future.

+2 for Daft Punk. Their live album (Alive 2007) is incredible and never fails to get me excited. Fridaymixtape.com is great also for eclectic (and free) mixes.

    Lovely looking bike 🙂
I recently got a CX bike and absolutely love it. On road, across fields or muddy technical single track it feels light, engaging and above all fun. I regularly get home and turn back around to get another half an hour on it.

Morvelo site is down at the moment awaiting a re-design – I’m guessing we will know once it’s back up http://www.morvelo.com/

I’ve got a Apple Mac book pro 15″ for work and it’s great. It’s a year old so is a 2.4 processor but still super fast even with 7 or 8 things running at once. Don’t do much video editing but iMovie has been more than enough for what I needed, and photoshop runs really nicely for photo stuff.

Brilliant – thanks Mog. Every provider seems to be drowning in negative reviews online so good to hear a happier story.

Had it for the last couple of months and speed wise it’s been great. Customer service were dreadful (colleagues who have dealt with Virgin, BT etc say much the same thing) but if you stamp your feet a bit and get escalated you’ll be put through to someone helpful. Also like BoardinBob says the NAT restriction thing is annoying for online gaming.
    Overall i’m happy with them.

Bought my last bike from Evans Brighton – really great service including a warranty repair on a rear mech snap a few months after buying. Have dealt with a few simpletons in there since, but mostly they’ve outperformed one particular LBS*

*not Freedom bikes – they’re ace.

Nickname – I’m considering getting bad company 2 once I’ve gotten bored of red dead. Looks ace.

Not sure what single thing it is that makes red dead amazing for me. Music, style, shooting and general real world-ness of it all blow me away. Spent thirty minutes earlier playing horseshoes with a ranch hand.

I do it lots. Have read Less Than Zero and Catcher In The Rye countless times. Helps that they’re both short books.

    I recently got this one
It’s great for drying clothes, and does stop condensation, although that said I live in a flat so can’t comment on how it would work in a house. Also cannot comment on cost as we’ve only had it a month or so and haven’t seen the electricity bill yet.
I’d recommend it though – I was staggered at how much water it sucked out of the flat in the first 48 hours; about ten or eleven pints.

aP – I saw the rain and ended up taking my hardtail for a few loops around Stanmer. Stopped on the way out and watched the racing for a while. Looks like brilliant (and gruelling) fun; definitely up for entering the next local event. Impressed by all of the partners/supporters that braved the rain to watch.

Chef – the lagoon was windy but busy with bikes and people which is always nice.
aP – bugger thought it was next week. Will be at stanmer early so will check out the course and see how confident I’m feeling.

Yes – there’s a local race next weekend so might throw myself into that. It’s at Stanmer so will see how I get on tomorrow.

I love my kindle. Properly lovely and simple device. Only niggle is the occasionally limited book selection on amazon although I’m sure this will improve with time.

Worth pointing out Calibre, a free web download that allows you to send any web content to the kindle for free, blogs, news etc.

The second hand option is good as you save a lot of money, but PS3s are fairly temperamental so I’d want the safety of a replacement that buying new gives you. Probably not worth waiting for Xmas bundles as they’re often made up of crap games IMO.
