    Definitely measured the inside.

It’s a Sonic. Have googled but can’t find any record of them. It’s a steel framed tourer, probably about twenty years old. Everything else about it seems standard.

Luckily I didn’t bin the old wheels, so might resort to giving those a onceover.

    Thank you.

Had the N5 for a couple of weeks and loving it, but admit that the camera is rubbish. Focus is slow, flash seems pointless, and it’s only taken one good photo out of 30 or 40 I’ve taken. My gf has the iPhone 5c and in comparison the camera is terrible. Battery life seems comparable to the N4, Lumia 920 and all iphones I’ve used.

On the plus side the screen is brilliant, and generally the whole phone whizzes along with whatever you throw at it.

Ever since uni I’ve loved Fosters but am conscious most others think it’s p**s.

Thanks again for all the advice. I went for the RX100 and it’s just arrived; lovely camera and exactly what I wanted. Here’s the first shot – a sunset over Clerkenwell (with a tiny bit of Pixelmator to bring out the sunset).

    Two things.
Firstly hitting a boy off his bike in my car a few months after passing my test. Various witnesses testified that there was nothing I could’ve done to avoid it, and luckily I was only going 10-15mph when he hit my bonnet so he escaped with a few scrapes. Since then I’ve always assumed that other drivers/cyclist/pedestrians will do the stupid thing, and so I ride/drive/walk cautiously.
Secondly I broke my arm attempting to ride down a flight of stairs two years ago. Made me realise I’m no daredevil, and should enjoy the more peaceful side of riding. Also taught me that steel frames can break.

I’ve tethered from a number of phones, including iphone 4, Lumia 920, Nexus 4 and 5 and a crappy old Alcatel Android phone, and tethering seemed consistent across the board, making me think the speed of the phone didn’t matter so much.

    thanks for the response.

I loved the G11 at first – used the auto setting mostly but also took some great shots using the manual features. But it started to feel limited and the photos (particularly of people) lacked depth when compared to those taken by friends on DSLRs. I also didn’t like the swivel screen.

I thought I’d either get something smaller (The G11 was too big to go in a pocket) and accept the limitations of the photos, or go large and make the most of all the features.

The RX100 looks lovely so will investigate that further.

I enjoyed Avatar in 3D but for everything else I’ve seen in 3D it seemed more distracting than anything. Also have a 3D TV at home and have tried 3D gaming on the PS3 which was cool for 5 minutes and then created a massive headache. Games tried were Wipeout and Batman.

Rusty, Uselesshippy – thank you -will have a look.
Tazzy – not a bad idea, although thinking I want it on my chest so drawing in reverse in the mirror could be tricky 🙂

Another vote for the Nexus 4 – brilliant phone, but definitely needs a good case.

Have a Macbook that is now six years old and chugging away. I even dropped it on a escalator in its first month.

thank you – that’s really helpful. Think I might go the Nitromors route – happy if it takes a while.

Thanks again – have done Breaking Bad already but tempted to give it another run before they release the final episodes. Also +1 for the Modern Family recommendation – really sharp writing.

Thanks. I did try Dexter but a few episodes into season 2 and it started to feel quite repetitive. Also the sister annoyed me for some unknown reason.

Brilliant – thanks all. I suspected the cx would come in handy for city riding.

Northwind – they are the first tubeless rims I’ve had. Wasn’t aware there was a technique but that would make sense as the same tyres were fine on my older rims. Any tips?

I recently bought a 32inch Sony LED and it’s great. I think they slashed the prices due to company financial trouble so it’s packed with features (3D, smartTV) and was just over £300 on Amazon. We have Samsungs at work and while they’re thinner and more attractive, I find the remote/interface on the Sony a lot more intuitive.

I used Guardian Soulmates and OkCupid over the summer. The former was brilliant for meeting smart interesting women, all of whom had brilliant careers and a lot to talk about. The latter was a lot more chaotic but also lead to more random sexual encounters.

I’m assuming it’s a Nexus 7? I got one recently and am finding it great as a way to read interesting stuff. Download Pocket, and also install it on whatever browser you use at work – really easy way to save stuff for reading later.

It’s also great for Netflix but that needs a subscription – worth the £6 a month in my opinion, if only for Breaking Bad and the occasional odd documentary.

Thanks Craig – definitely looks interesting. Will wait till after the weekend when I’ve hopefully had more replies, and been able to do more research, before making a decision.

Not sure if it helps but I went through the exact same thing about four months ago. I’m 31, had been with my girlfriend six years and we had a house and a cat. Out of the blue she said she’d fallen out of love with me. Hit me like a ton of bricks but four months later I’ve got a nice central flat, a new bike (or two), a healthy sum of money (she bought me out of the house) and am absolutely loving it. My tips would be:

Go crazy for a while – blow off some steam.
    Ride a lot.
Book a holiday (I’m off to NYC this week).
Try online dating – there are lots of amazing women out there, and you can be up front about if you’re looking for a relationship or simply a bit of fun.
Remain positive and polite to your ex throughout – although I was gutted, I didn’t see any point in souring the situation further.

    Good luck 🙂

Thanks – just found that but it’s a medium – need something large. Shame as it’s a lovely looking frame.

RM – that GT looks ace for the money – thanks.
Qwerty – love the idea but sadly I’m a good 6 inches taller and couldn’t bear to part with my Soul.

Like others have said they’re great fun. Not a substitute, and your forearms take a battering, but they make boring trails interesting. I love mine but also love having a hardtail to fall back on for when the mood takes me.

    Blast round Surrey Hills.

Snow made my cleats useless which was frustrating, but riding the usual BKB, Yoghurt Pots etc in the snow made the slog worthwhile.

Also on the free trial on my ps3. Loving it mostly. Odd but decent selection. Like browsing a friends DVD collection. Technology wise it’s been super simple.

Maybe not relevant as you’ve already been entered but i’d agree with wwaswas – do it on a different day.

I did last year with a group of 8 mates – managed to piece together a slightly extended route that was mostly single lane country roads – was an absolute blast.

I don’t see the need for a separate DVD controller. Joypad is pretty intuitive.

On the MW3 versus Battlefield 3 front, depends what you want. IMHO BF3 is far superior but if you like quick run and gun type multiplayer MW3 is for you. Leave BF3 to the grown ups 😉

I’ve used mine a lot around stanmer and swinley. Perfectly doable and a lot of fun. You will be slower though and your forearms and hands will hurt. Not tried a trail centre but sure it would be possible.
Now that I’ve gotten over the new bike thrill of my crosser I use my hardtail for most MTB stuff but take my cross when the trails are dry and I’m up for a nice relaxed ride.

Ross, which I like but have always struggled to pronounce as I have a lisp. Bit of a bugger but hey ho 🙂
