The one drawback to my car is I can’t expose myself to other people in my car. I can on public transport.

Er when you say ‘expose’ yourself, you dont mean………

    *********FLASHING WARNING***********

    …..do you?

I think i fit in with the power ranger description, except i am thirty or there abouts, i dont have a beer belly (my team boss wont let me), and on the road i ride respectfully (on track im a lunatic!). I save my adrenalin for race day.
My road bike is a 1989 Kawasaki ZXR which is loud, but so is my neighbours Subaru, my one piece suit is nice and comfy to wear and should help me out should some knob in an Audi change lanes suddenly in front of me.
I love riding my Intense through the woods at least once a week, and i ride it through London occasionally- doing battle with the traffic and disapproving pedestrians is a right laugh!

Its simple- people who have cars will most likely use it (why wouldnt you for the above reasons) and most people who travel on trains do so because they HAVE to. So they can charge what the hell they like, and those people have to find the cash.

The ride into Paris is just a procession isnt it- so unless he IS struck by lightning or his bike breaks in half he will win. Strange things can happen and all that.

Theres the question of the final sprint- Cav wants to win it!!!

My favorite is the ‘Ultimate Farts Soundboard’- theres a multitude of amusing parps and they all have ridiculous names like ‘Colon Powell’ or ‘Tuna Melt’.
You can even set them as your phones message alert- great when it goes off unexpectedly in a crowded lift!
And then theres the fart bomb…….

Hours of childish fun for sad people like me!

Pedrosa needs to be taken down a peg or two, he is a great rider, but he is too fragile for bike racing. And yes if Simoncelli wins with Pedro on the same podium, that will be great to watch!
Stoner has amazing bike skills- every race without fail he will get that rear tyre sliding and it is a treat to watch. But he really needs to work on his people skills, and mocking Rossi when he went to apologise made him look like a child.

Next year we will have proper bikes again- hopefully the riders will be listened to and electronics will be less of a factor for the future.

Does anyone else think Moto 2 has been more fun so far this year? It’s a very high quality field, a huge starting grid and close racing

Oh yes- fantastic stuff. Go Bradders and Scotty!

Dani Pedrosa Hair comment This made me laugh- as if Dani’s never been involved in a collision before! Funny though.
[/quote]‘Spanner of the year award’, really? He’s one of the few exciting riders in GP at the moment!

    – yes you are right, i should take back the spanner comment and replace it with ‘years most unfortunate rider’. He does spice it all up a bit dosent he- and i really want him to get it right and win one.
I still remember his move on Max Biaggi at Imola (i think) in last years rookie ride on a factory WSB Aprilia. Gutsy and very nearly ended in disaster.

Cal is going to win one day, and i shall carry on shouting at my telly till he does! He’s a class act….

It all turned nasty in yesterday’s press conference with Dani, Marco & Puig all slagging each other off apparently

It’s going to be an exciting one- you cant beat having a bunch riders who hate each other. It makes for great (if rather death defying) racing!
    Bring on the weekend!

I actually think Simo might have a double or triple score this time and take down two or three other riders instead of just the one!

i had a bottle of liptons iced green tea with lemon last week.
    so it’s available here too.
    most refreshing, it was

Is it widely available, ive never seen it. I could just make my own i guess- Tescos do their own green tea with lemon teabags for 70p. For 15 bags- thats got to be good value!

This is no new thing- 2 of my friends were bike jacked when we were all at school (early- mid 90’s). First was my friend Phil who was shoved off his Saracen Rufftrax as he rounded a corner a couple of streets from his house. the bike was 2 weeks old! It turned out to be a couple of scraggs from school (they bragged about it). Luckily they feared his big brother and the bike was returned after an ‘altercation’.
The second was our other friend Ray who was pushed off his Ridgeback as he rode up a rather steep hill near his house. No mistake who was responsible for that- it was the local Pikies. He never saw the Ridgeback again.

So, no youre not at all paranoid. And with todays bikes being as spangly as they are i’m always on my guard!

Im an odd one myself, as i really quite like Lipton iced tea (the Lemon one is really rather spiffing) but i cant stand tea when its hot! Weird??

Anyone tried any other tea as an iced cold drink?

    Iced green tea?

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

I am currently taking green tea capsules (although i have to crack em open on a teaspoon and swallow the powder with some water- very hard not to gag!!), and i must say that they’ve made me feel more alert and awake, and i lost nearly 4 LBS in a week.
These capsules are the equivalent of drinking 20 cups of the stuff a day, so theyre quite concentrated.
I got them from Holland and Barrett- they do various strengths, not doing things by half i decided to go all out and get the strongest!
I tried the Green tea with lemon and its allright with two sugars in, but im not really a tea drinker….

Haha- think he’s trying to say that it tastes like seawater!

Dont think id like the taste of it either which is why i’ll try some extract tabs. Plus they’ll have the equivalent of drinking 15 cups of the stuff!

I had a mini Chopper called a Tomahawk- it had no gears but looked like it did. My grandad rescued it from a skip and done it up for me. It was a rustbucket.
Then some kid at school challenged me to a downhill race down our local hill. On road not offroad. I was in the lead and feeling like Graham Hill until i had to stop at the bottom. I realised my brakes were crap and did nothing to slow me down.
Having no time to react i whacked over the kerb and went straight through Daniel Drivers front garden wall. Solid brick it was. I lay in a cloud of brick dust for a few seconds before his parents came out of the house and handed me my front wheel (still attatched to the forks and headtube).
    ‘Is this yours’ they said…….
Glory days! And i still won the race!

Did i read it right? UK taxpayers are paying £25million for a building in someone else’s country for an EU that we dont really want to be part of?

    Wow- mugged off or what??

Simoncelli might actually be able to stay sunny side up! Surely he CAN learn from previous mistakes?
Cal should get in with a solid 6th or better (podium please!!!!).
Stoner will walk away with it (unless Simoncelli skittles him).
Valentino has forgotten about this year already- every race is a test session for next years 1000cc Duke. Watch out for him in 2012!

    Spies could well surprise everyone!
And finally- J Lo will be there or there abouts! He’ll be embarrased about Silverstone and will want to make up for it…

Go Scott and Bradders in Moto 2!!!!

I’m with Zulu- if i’m with my kids (unless they’re strapped in the trailer) i’ll ride on the pavement. It would be really rather stupid to let them ride in the road.
Maybe the cycle proficiency test should be part of the national curriculum in all schools, it would teach kids about road safety and would prepare them well should they wish to drive or ride a motorcycle later in life.
Then no one should need to ride on pavements over the age of say 12 as they’ll be perfectly capable….

I only ever use the car (which is my wife’s not mine) for ‘lugging stuff around’, doing the weekly shop (you cant stuff much in a rucksack) and taking the kids to nursey (which is 10 miles away, so car is convienient).
99% of my non cycle distance journeys are by motorcycle. Yes in all weathers apart from snow! That would be silly…..

Sports direct do Karrimoor cycle clothing too- i got a jersey for £8 and some shorts for £10. Bargain!
They also happen to be some of the best cycle clothing ive bought- ie really comfy, proper fitting (although the sizes can be a bit small so try before you buy), not falling to bits after ride number three and not making me look like a power ranger!
Some of their running clothes are pretty good on the bike too.

The best quality helmet you can afford, its an essential safety item but also cheap lids mist up like hell. A breath deflector is a must. Respro do one- it’ll be the best £12 you spent (i think they still cost £12).
Also, if youre warm and waterproof the weather wont be a problem- heated inner gloves and vest are a good investment and best of all heated socks!
Just dont flick the on switch till the engines warmed up or you’ll kill your battery.

Looking further ahead, if it does all go tits up, which way is the wind blowing? I remember a load of radiation being dumped all over the world and Scotland when Chernobyl went up.
And if there is another powerful aftershock in that area, would it damage the thing even more?

I was advised by my medical team at Kings College not to ride anymore, they told me that the stress would make my illness worse.
    So i simply ignored them!!
I still ride my bike whenever i can and i still ride it in much the same way (though not as far or quite as often). I know it’ll hurt me but i will not EVER give my bike up, and i’ll just deal with it.

I do however do alot more fishing these days!

Yes- dont go out on the lash the night before.
Painting with a hangover is a recipe for disaster.

Also, choose the best quality paint you can get. Cheap stuff will kill it.
And get the laquering done professionally- it will make your DIY spray job look like its from a factory.

Im bothered about all this, by using cameras like this it’ll give those in the do gooders office an excuse to make more rules and turn us all into programmed robots!
Theres too many cameras as it is checking on our every move…..
