Christmas used to be held at my Mum and Dad’s house. That stopped after my mum died 4 years ago and Dad passed last year.

In-laws for my Sister’s Husband, Brother’s Wife and my then wife would all be invited, including my mum’s first husband. We’d have a fantastic time together. The exWife and her Mum don’t get on so that would be a bit frosty.

This year I’m at my sister’s on Christmas Eve for Turkey dinner. Pick my two kids up at 2pm on Christmas Day. A quick stop off at the Ex MiL, she and the ex don’t speak (not even met her new Son in Law). I think it’s important that the kids have some connection to that side of the family so I’ll put up with 1/2hr of being asked questions about her daughter I can’t answer. Then we’re off to my sister’s for games and fun with their cousins!

The whole traditions we had and the people.
For 40+ years Christmas dinner was held at my Mum and Dad’s, cooked by my (much) older brother. So in the morning me and my sister would open our presents from Mum n Dad, then in the afternoon the rest of the local family would turn up and we’d eat till we couldn’t move, then open presents that they’d brought with them. The evening spent playing “parlour games”. As we moved out and had families of our own, we still went to Mum and Dad’s for Christmas dinner, bringing inlaws with us if they were at a loose end. So my kids got to experience it. This all stopped 4 years ago with the death of my mum, we now all do our own thing on Christmas day. We passed Dad between us until he died last year and with my divorce my kids are having to get used to 50:50 Christmas day. My daughter said last week “I miss the Christmas traditions we had”.

Angeldust – I had a budget, I can’t afford to break my budget. SO the conversation went “you can have X&Y on your birthday, or see if there’s a big discount and get X,Y&Z” she opted for the later and it’s worked out for her. She wants it for the VR helmet which her mum is buying for her and hasn’t been able to source. So there was no rush. Now she’s got some games for it while waiting for her mum to sort the VR out.

I’ve used the money I saved to buy some Sealskinz socks – every one’s a winner, especially my cold wet toes 🙂

PS4 1TB CoD bundle £229.99 from Smyths Toys, collect it on my way home. Daughter’s birthday present, saved £50. Her birthday was last weekend and we purposely delayed buying it to try and take advantage of any price cuts. The Saved £50 has then been used to buy a couple of games she wanted, which were also discounted and I’m still £10 under budget. This has never happened to me before.

After 2 months off the bike, I dislocated my collar bone enjoying Barcelona too much, I’m back. I’ve done a few rides to get my fitness back up and Sunday was the first ride to see if my shoulder could cope.

The plan was to go from Heywood over to Landgate and Moss Quarries in Whitworth and check out the Cycle cross events. A 30mile round trip with 3000ft of climbing. Going through Ashworth Valley/Carr Woods on to Greenbooth Reservoir and up Rooley Moor Rd to Lee Quarry.

I think I had to mess around, going via PAYG, as I wanted to stay with O2.

I had a similar situation with my Number on O2, the account was in my wife’s name and I wanted it transferring to mine at the end of the contract. I had to transfer the number to a PAYG sim first and from that to a new account. Other operators may have different rules.

My experience/advice, it gets better. Ride your bike, that has been the best therapy.

My ex gets Married next week (in Majorca), 6 months after announcing his existence to the kids.
As Squin has pointed out, the mudslinging serves no purpose other than to justify what they’ve done. Let them get on with it. Mine has created a whole new history for our time together and has cut out of her life anyone that can contradict it. Family, friends are all gone.

As for me, I’m the happiest I’ve been for years. I didn’t realise how miserable she made me 🙂

Arona, bottom end of the lake, is beautiful to walk around in the evening with a Gellato.

It does indeed get much, much better. I’m finding the bike riding helps clear my head and put things in perspective.

My current level of stress is over whether to have McDonalds for tea with my kids tonight, or wait till later and eat the portion of iDave Curry in the fridge (yes I’m still doing that).

Me and my 12 year old daughter still hold hands and skip everywhere, from the car to Asda etc 🙂

There may come a day when she doesn’t want to, hopefully it’s because my Zimmer frame trips us up!

My 14 year old son is turning into a young man and talks to me about anything. Last week after we dropped his sister off at Zoo school (Blackpool Zoo)he set me up with this…..
“Dad, you know how Zoo’s have exotic animals, why don’t they have domestic animals like dogs in there as well?”
