I would have thought the CTF schemes would be a good bet.

Did you get the govt allocated whatever it is (£250??) to stick into one when little 'un arrived?

erm, why are they called "Bastid" ??

    just wondering like..

mangoridebike – I don't think so but you can just use a normal 2 pint to 3-pin travel adapter.

Greenvile – I did no such thing, I have no knowledge of what you speak, sir.

    What did I do Greenvile?

LLoyds TSB are supposed to be fully signed up to it though.

Faster Payments is a result of an FSA directive, just that a few banks are dragging their heels. ..

There are some exceptions though mind.

Lloyds TSB are supposed to be signed up to Faster Payments yet take 4 days to transfer from Mrs RopeyReignRider's account to my HSBC account, for example.

Actually, I was about to ask which P7 to buy too!

Also, can anyone link to the velcro strappy thing that you can get to attach P7 to lid with?

    Cheers for the info guys.

I ordered one of those Ultrafire 801 thingy spot torches too (to stick on my lid) as I heard the DX bike lights are quite floody?

Should I just get another P7 instead??

Sorry Hobo – I'll skulk back to bikemagic where I belong..

ooh, I didn't see that helmet mount kit – interesting.

I've also ordered a little 801 spot thingy light to stick on my lid – do DX do the velcro mount things for them? (not very good at searching on that site tbh)

re bikemagic ..dont take any of them / us / me seriously – we're normal people really you know. lots of people have been using the P7's strapped to their bars for a while now.

    ta for info..

    cheers ourmaninthenorth

(and er.. re g@y comment.. that wasn't me.. that were someone else over on t'other side… )

I realised that there are a lot of DX related reviews on here but I didn't know whether anyone had experience of the actual bike lights as opposed to just the normal P7 torches??

I ordered them yesterday (and yes I realise asking for opinions after paying for them ain't clever) and was wondering on delivery times etc?

    RopeyReignRider

Sorry, I don't really lurk here that often – the BikeMagic lot did say that you " were all going g@y over them" ..

seriously though.. I could do with an overview of people's thoughts, having not spent much time on here like.

    thanks

Blimey makes my not being able to afford to buy forks for the bouncy bike seems almost, almost trivial..

    RopeyReignRider
    Free Member

And they weigh about 2.5lb less than the 36s

Um not quite – Fox 36's weight about 5lbs for Vans a bit less for Float/TALAS. I think even for Rev's 2.5lbs would be pushing it? ;-)

I've had 36 Van's for 2 years and they've been amazing forks however there were times when I wondered if I need quite as much burlyness.

The new 150mm RS Revs do look very nice and from what I've heard are pretty stiff – saw some on a Nomad on Santa Cruz's stall back in May so must be capable of taking some stick..

Still feel fine at 140mm, i have a 2007 FXR specced with 5" inch rear travel. Think the newer FXRs have 6" inch or more so maybe that you need a bit more travel.

Ah that explains it – I've got the 150mm ish travel (6'') FXR hence it really needs at least a 150mm fork…

furry_marmot – interesting to get a positive review!

Hmm… still toying with idea of RS Rev 150mms but think they'd look a bit weedy on my bike (google foes fxr 2007 and you'll see what I mean.. it's a chunky beast)…

    RopeyReignRider

GrumpyStevo – yep I've got an FXR, interesting you say the Pikes feel OK on yours… mine feels a little steep up front even with 36's but I guess it depends on what you're used to.

Jamie – I considered Wotans but they're a fair bit heftier than the 36's it seems.

I might well email you though re the 66's and Z1 – might do as a temporary solution and I could always bung em on Southerndownhill or somewhere if and when I can upgrade….

ddmonkey – ok mate, I'll have a scout about but may well be interested.. will let you know.

GrumpyStevo – Pikes are a bit short but those 150mm revs sound nice- where have you seen them at that price??

    RopeyReignRider

    Hmm interesting stuff.

I've had 140mm Nixons before and tbh I've got so used to the lovely stiffness of the Fox 36's.

Are the base model 55's going to be utter gash then:

    160mm 55's for £206ish quid..

Hmm, interesting stuff Andy but I'm afraid I'm not blessed with technical and / or fettling skills..

Any suggestions for a cheap, reliable 150mm ish air fork not requiring being taken to bits??!?

Aye, don't worry – I've bought forks from Richard .. turned up very quickly..

Take a close look at the Voodoo range of hardtails on the Halfrauds website. They're stonking value for money – I recently got the Wanga on the C2W scheme.

Unfortunately most Halfords don't stock the Voodoos but can order them in..

(oh and Halfords can actually order in virtually any brand of bike)

BSc. (Hons) Audio & Music Technology guy who worked for Arcam for a bit says, my 2p's worth:

    1. directionality is arguably b@lls

    2. Quality / difference of interconnects isn't b@lls, but only to a certain point

    3. Look at what recording studios use – balanced XLR's at (usually) a fraction of the price of posh hi-fi interconnects.

    4. That is all

Company House records or some gently credit checking (Equifax, Experian and that other one I always forget the name of).. I would have thought??

    RopeyReignRider
    Free Member

    It depends.

If the bike you've order is one of their "core range" then yes, you do.

However, their core range is not just limited to what they have in stock at any one time…. it includes brands like Voodoo (very nice, I have one!) , GT, Kona, Dawes I think as well as Boardman, Carrera etc

What have you ordered?? I recently got a Voodoo Wanga on the Halfords C2W scheme- absolutely amazing spec for 900 notes!!

We had a house bunny for several years. It was quite easy to erm.. toilet train him and he could be left to roam the house alone although I wouldn't advise that until you've had him for a while and figured out what he likes to sniff/chew.

All in all he seemed to make a good indoor pet.. although our broadband was instantly disconnected about a dozen times during his " training phase".

Oh, and if you get a boy bunny it really is er " kindest" to get his knackered chopped off..

" Superstarcomponents implicated in shonky products shocker"

For what it's worth I had his pads, they de-laminated instantly and I nearly stuffed meself under a bus.. I was silly enough to post on here and got flamed to within an inch of my life!!

I complained to Neil, he called me "unprofessional" which was a bit bizarre seeing as I have nothing to do with the trade..

But… I'm sure his all of his products are fine and not shonky at all..

    honest

    no, really

Don't laugh but….. Halfords have the Voodoo Wanga for £900.

After a huge amount of research I bought one on the C2W scheme – it is simply stunning value for the cash:

    Voodoo Wanga

Lovely butted Joe-Murray designed steel frame

    Reba SL's

    Race Face Evolve XC cranks

    Avid Elixir CR discs

All Race Face evolve finishing kit

    X9/X7 transmission

I really don't think you'll find a better value steel hardtail – and it rides superbly!

Don't be put off by it being Halfords – they just happened to have effectively "won" the distribution rights for them.

They don't usually stock them though they are on website. If you're anywhere near sheffield then you're welcome to have a spin on my 19'' wanga

    /that sounds wrong/

ok cool si- think i'll be interested yep.

Btw, can you tell me if the float R's are not as good for 2010 as they're now open bath damping instead of FIT on the RC2's ??

Have you a price for R's too?

    Thanks

Si – hugely interested in 2010 float RC2's for that price !!

Can you still get them? Can you take a credit card!?

    Thanks!

I haven't forgotten about the money owed… I sold the air curnutt he sent me instead of the Ti coil.

The money I got from this alongside the partial refund received means that I'm down about £40 net. As such, I personally can't be bothered to chase him for the rest – I haven't the time nor energy tbh.

However, that's not to say I don't believe that others have a very strong case against him.

Personally I can't be bothered with the hassle as I have sold the air shock he sent me instead of the Ti spring.

However, as I understand it there are still a fare few people still owed money – someone really should drag him through the courts as he'll carry on doing it to other people..
