    How did it do?

If you fancy typing in the entire review and scanning a few photos, that'd be great ! :-)

Hmm, I wonder how that's going to work then?

I built up the commuter bike from a load of parts, estimated value £550-600…

    I guess I should really..

    righty,

tbh I'm in two minds about claiminf really –

it was a £550 commuter bike that was nicked but there's £100 excess and I'd obviously lose my no claims bonus

    (although that's only about a year's worth I think)

my bars get a much harder time on the hardtail with little forks, than on the big bouncy bike. .. Makes sense really . .

The FXR was reviewed in MBR 2-3 issues ago matey!! Its now on its way to Dirt for a more aggressive review

Oh right Jamie.. I had no idea.. I shall look out for it then!

btw, would you ever sell a 2010 model without a shock (i.e. would the curnutt from my 2007 FXR fit?)?

Also, have any of the 2009's left at the sale prices?!

I know this sounds rather cheesy but I think you need to have a ride on a Foes to know what they're about…

Looks nice Jamie but that is that just the monocoque top "tube" from an 08/09 FXR??

Talking of Foes's; when are we going to see a review of the new FXR in a magazine / website?

Personally, I'd be interested to see how the Curnutt shock / single pivot stacks up against all the modern linkage designs etc.

It might also get the brand a bit more exposure!!

(oh and if you want any "real world" testers I'd happily swap my 2007 FXR for a 2010, for testing purposes like.. :D )

Aj – yep it is a little bit short for me but not too bad. .

Podge – go on buy the fxr! You know you want to!

    RopeyReignRider

Yeah I know what you mean – my FXR takes me to speeds downhill that I'm not very comfortable with!

To be honest, it only seems to come alive at medium to high speed – it's a bit uninspiring on the slow stuff..

Crell – nice that, just wondering where you got it from? Is the grey paint job a custom thing? (only seem to be available in black and red at the moment!)

ooh nice GrumpyStevo – how come you're selling?!

forgotmename – are you making sure that the links you use end in .jpg as opposed to all the re-size gubbins etc?

:-) i'd love a foes hardtail, if only to look at and polish!

Keep it coming with the foes's. . Got to be a few more out there?!

no i agree, they're not the prettiest of bikes, although the new ones are swoopier and a bit easier on the eye!

Tbh foes are more about stiffness and going down hill much faster than I can!

podge – they are very expensive and i certainly couldnt afford a new one!! Although balfa had some on sale for same price as an intense tracer . . . Still not exactly cheap!
. . And thanks! Tbh my riding doesnt do it justice!

I would say the only thing is to thoroughly research your mortgage options.

We got approved for the Homebuy Direct scheme, where the govt / developer put up upto a 30% deposit on a new home.

However, what we weren't told is that only 4 banks will fund mortgages on the scheme and that all of them now want a 5% deposit on the 70% mortgage

(so we still ended up having to try to find £6k deposit when we thought we didn't need one at all!)

    Hi

My sister in law has it and my sister has Crohn's disease (similar but worse).

It seems to be manageable but you do have to pay huge attention to your diet (the sister in law is being really stupid about it, not taking medication and binge drinking…..really not a good idea).

I'm fairly sure there will be support forums out there but try not to google it too much – it's different for everyone and some have it worse than others..

    oh right, cheers

I can't imagine what I've done with them tbh – just re-building the bouncy bike after 6 months off.. must be around somewhere…

Excuse my ignorance but am I right in saying you're not supposed to undertake stationary traffic on the left (according to highway code etc)??

I'm always pondering this on my commute home – my route takes me a long a single lane of stationary traffic which then open up to a bus lane and single lane traffic.

If I overtake on the right of the traffic it's virtually impossible to then cut into the traffic to get to the bus lane on the left…

And yes, having heard of some gruesome accidents.. never undertake a lorry or bus anywhere near a junction!!

Thing is though, if you were stuck up the top of Kinder Scout / Kinder Low in winter, with a f00kered ankle etc then a bivvy bag could make a huge difference…

..not that it's going to be needed for your ride by the sounds of it..

I'm tempted to join you all…

My lordy you lot are a bunch of pedantic/ sarcastic old gits when you want to be, aren't you?

I've taken a bivvy bag when going up Jacob's Ladder / Kinder Scout way in the winter – tis pretty exposed up there..

…however, for most loops around Ladybower / Mam Tor / Edale etc just the usual kit, and some tough (ish) tyres…

well its been weighed on two sets of scales – 34 on one and about 33 on other!

Seems pretty accurate based on what they weighed mates bikes at . . . Tis only the foes fxr with ti coil, not dhs mono or Fly!

nothing too special – XT, hope hoops, maxxis high rollers, easton bars, thomson post and hayes strokers with 8 inch rotors!

I'm quite surprised that your bike weighs 37lbs!

My Foes has an 8lb frame, and 5.5lb fork and still "only" weighs about 33.5

… still for that bargain price you can't go wrong!
