    Ooh, they sound good.

My frame (when it arrives) will have a 1.5'' steerer so it doesn't matter much what flavour the fork is in..

Anyway, why so many disparaging remarks about the Tracer?

I know the early ones sort of er..snapped but the revised rear triangle sorted that!

I'm always intrigued why some people are almost aggressive on their dislike of a particular bike etc..

Thanks for all your kind words!

I'm thinking red as I'll probably not actually end up selling it and getting the 2011 as planned …

TheSwede – the blue ones are loads nicer than raw!

    oh I just don't know!

You lot seem fairly split down the middle tbh.. I was hoping to be swayed one way or t'other!

bike clothes? er black mostly, with a bit of dark green and/or grey… but with a blue waterproof.

I'm going to clash horribly with the red one!

Blue is lovely and would have been my first choice.

However, as the 2011 tracer is being released soon this one isn't being made/painted in blue anymore..

I'll be getting old stock hence red or raw

(well, until I can order a 2011 in works blue, aha mwha ha ha ha aha)

*hopes Mrs RRR doesn't read this*

jam -bo – it will be the 2010 model with revised (i.e. beefier rear triangle)

Do you think it'll be easier to re-sell the works as you can't tell if it's been scratched!?!

    RopeyReignRider

Come on! I have to choose really quite quickly and I just can't do it!

The red looks lovely in real life but the raw works alloy won't get scratched to f00k…

I don't think the normal Nomad has any tweaks for 2011 other than being available in a few new colours and also a raw alloy finish.

I could be wrong, however. I'm seriously tempted by one too but may hold out for the new 150-160mm adjustable Intense Tracer VP 2 which will be out next year.

It's got adjustable geometry and the G2 dropouts mean it can run 135mm QR or the new 142mm standard or maxle etc etc

But it's muddy! How could you get such a lovely paint job dirty!

I am tempted by the Uzzi, but it really is too much bike for most of my riding I think..

I've had a set for over two years and not had to touch them other than change pads obviously!

They seem fantastically reliable although they do feel a bit on/off compared to Avid etc

However, I've never managed to boil them even on DH days, and I'm quite um…large :-/

Thanks for the offer curly but I'm up in Sheffield .

I think need to track down a demo bike near me and thrash it around the peaks to get a real feel for it!

They all look lovely in works red btw … Seems quite popular like

Ah ok, I think the boost valve on new ones is supposed to help out with phatter riders like myself!

So tempting , I just need to get a ride on one!

How different does it feel with say 150mm revs compared to lyric/ fox 36 etc ?

I need to achieve a tricky balance between all day rough peaks routes and occasional dh days / odd uplift…

Hmmm interesting ! Not getting bike for a little bit tbh would be interested to hear how much etc??

    OOooooh preedee

Does anyone know if anywhere sells the tracer with CCDB upgrade in the UK?

I can't really justify the extra cost afterwards and would then still have an air can to shift too…

I really do like works red too but mrs RRR isn't too keen and bizarrely its so much easier to get approval for a bike in a colour she likes!!

Curly68 – is that a boost valve fox?

I'm around the same weight as you too so am a little worried about that too… Ta

Ok so was it the tracer vs 575 then?

Any idea on how the tracer did in general?

There seems to be surprisingly few reviews around tbh…

ah well thanks guys, I ended up going with more than with my bike as named item.

This way it's covered locked in the shed but also locked in public (despite named items normally not covering bikes).

Only paying £60 a year more for bike and mrs RRR's engagement ring as named items so not too bad..

    cool thanks,

I'm fairly certain I'm going for a Tracer but am still unsure about forks :-S

Well my dilemma is that say 70% of my riding is in the Peaks (where to be honest a big bike is a lot of fun and not an uncommon site) and the rest consists of occasional DH at wharncliffe and the odd uplift day.

I don't want to be too over-biked but my riding is definitely biased towards going downhill (I endure the climbs) …

Hmmm interesting- aesthetics aside what was wrong with the fox 32 btw ?

I used to love the feel of my 36's but they are overkill for most of my riding …

hmmm, snot bad – just got a quote with More Than and as £3k bike is a named item it's covered in and out of house/outbuildings for about £60 ..

    still looking…

excuse my ignorance but what makes M&S so good then?

hmmmm it's quite interesting though and I do wonder how much of a performance advantage a coil shock has for most "normal" trail riders.

I can't for example, imagine that an air shock would overheat to the point where the damping goes wobbly at say a trail centre.

However, I have experienced several air shocks turning to mush on fast, rocky and very long descents (e.g. down the back of the hill opposite Jacob's Ladder).

    I dunno

    *shrugs*

I wonder if my noticing the difference was to do with the fact it was on a Foes Curnutt shock and hence the springs were fookin mahoosive?!?

    RopeyReignRider
    Free Member

I understand that a Ti coil should feel the same as the equivalent steel at the same spring rate.

However, they are often more responsive than steel so can give the impression of feeling softer i.e. They respond where a steel spring wouldn't.

It's hard to explain and in my experience wasn't to do with the quality of re spring as both were very high quality Curnutt springs…
