So in terms of function is the only difference really te bearings ( disc mounts aside) ?

Well you can get pro3’s on stans flow and pro2 straight-pull on stans flow so I don’t think the 3’s are exclusively for xc stuff.

My mate has said that he doesn’t think his brakes work as well with the Hope rotors included on the pro3’s….anyone else notice that?

They can order most things but there are a couple of brands they can’t source; endura and five ten for example.

I’ll have to check re Pace , ta

Yeah I think they can get Madison shorts…

I had some Alturas but I was quite disappointed in them; they’ve lasted less than a year of not very often riding!

I think I’ll look into the shimano shoes though ta

    So then, short recommendations please!

    RopeyReignRider

Shimano eh? Yes I think they can get them actually.

The voucher is for a lot so I don’t really need to worry too much; I was thinking 2*shorts @ £45 each and up to £80 for shoes.

The shoes do need to be proper flats shoes though..

I gather you should make sure your ball fat is solid and not the slimy/greasy stuff as apparently the little tits get coated in it and then can’t fly as well.

    Or something

They wouldn’t touch ours either. However they appear to have been stolen now, I’m guessing there’s a very fat squirrel somewhere ..

It’s worth taking a look at the Voodoo Bokor I think it is (£750 available only via Halfords)

It’s received rave reviews and appears to be the best value £750 bike by a very large margin!

Hmm squelching seems odd when it was fine before, mind.

I realise -7/8 isn’t particularly extreme; it’d be interesting to know if shocks had a published range of operational temperature blah blah.

I mean, I really have no idea if Fox do test them in extreme cold/heat ?

    RopeyReignRider

    Hmmm

So now my previously-quiet shock has developed a permanent and very loud squelch.

Any ideas? Would -8 degrees cause water crystals to form in the oil or some such thing?!

    It’s a 2010 boost valve rp23 , only a few rides old too!

It doesn’t feel very pleasant! :-/

I’m tempted by the D-jab , assuming they’re still available when I get my C2W voucher..

My steel wanga was fab (it got nicked), I can’t believe that they’re not going to carry a steel bike in the line-up!?

    RopeyReignRider
    Free Member

Er, so is there no longer going to be any steel voodoos available?!

I was considering another wanga on C2W but really want steel..

:-) I was thinking the same!

That does sound pretty nasty though :-s

_tom_ I’d just got the bike out of the car and flipped it over to put rear wheel in.

I just gave the pedals a little spin to seat the wheel, whilst my hand was near the dropout. Being hungover and tired I didn’t notice my digit in the disk as I looked up to listen to a mate :-S

Hmmm Sheldon did it good n proper then! You would have thought they might have tried to stick it back on!

It’s my right index finger too and although it’s healed well in two weeks I find the numbness a little disconcerting!

    RopeyReignRider
    Free Member

Well mine’s not really hurt that much..it just feels numb :-S

    RopeyReignRider

    Urk! That sounds painful!

I’m glad I’m not the only one at least!

Tbh I was a bit miffed in that the minor injuries unit local to CYB just stuck a bit of tape round it.

I then rode 30km round penmachno the next day (unable to use my front brake).

When I got to the doctors back home they were somewhat surprised that it hadn’t been stitched or steri-stripped together (it is now)..

( and yes I realise it was stupid to ride with it like that but after we’d driven 120 miles for a biking weekend, and I’d spent all of the Saturday sat in CYB cafe waiting for my mates, I was desperate to ride!)

Oh and I wasn’t really looking for a Ti bike but looking at what steel hardtails I could get from halfords it stuck out as stunning value!

    RopeyReignRider
    Free Member

I had issues with the slidey dropouts on my wanga too..

I did love my wanga too but it was a little twitchy . As for the bigger fork on the D-Jab I think I’d be ok – my other bike is an Intense Tracer VP with big forks (and most of my riding is ****ting into big rocks in the peaks)

    RopeyReignRider
    Free Member

Ok , so sell titanium to me!

Is it really worth £600 over the steel wanga?

    RopeyReignRider
    Free Member

Well I did have a Voodoo Wanga (it got nicked) which I imagine is similar geometry.

I’m just not sure if I’m a subtle enough rider to feel the Ti difference?!

    Hmm, confused!

I’d quite like to wander into a well stocked bike shop, choose a bike and some decent kit and hand over my voucher!
