I love it but am undecided about the squeak.

Also, am I the only one who thinks it feels a bit wrong to eat it raw? It seems much more wholesome grilled with peppers and tomatoes ..

.. But they would have made a lot more from swapping the wheel bearings as per my earlier post…

I’ve hit some massive and unavoidable potholes at about 50mph and can see it it could be a possibility that they’ve been damaged by them. Also, they’re runflats so perhaps likely to take bigger hits without popping due to the reinforcements perhaps??

Nealglover – they said the tyres are severely out of shape, distorted and basically not very round. Tbh I have a good relationship with them and took the car in thinking the whirring was a wheel bearing.

If they were looking to make a few quid they could have just said the bearings need replacing I guess.

The tyres are indeed the correct size and load rating.

    – oh and the tyres are pumped to the lesser value (car not loaded up with phat mates and bikes)

It didn’t occur to me to look at a picture of the tread of a new one!

There’s no vibration at the steering or anything but the whirring is getting worse. I think I will have to change them as BMW marked them as red on the car diagnostics ‘puter thing (everything else green) but at £135 each I was hoping I could make them last a bit longer as they’re only half worn :-/

Hankook S1 Evo and inflated to whatever it says on the car.

The dealers said the tyres definitely need replacing ASAP yet kwikfit said they weren’t dangerous or illegal.

    Confused :-S

Hora – the two bottles of wine over the weekend would be mine all mine (the wife rarely drinks) , hence why it’s probably not a good idea.

The wine box idea – er I’m not sure this would work knowing my at times relentless thirst for wine :-/

Kryton57 – shame on you! I do not work IN a bank but I do drive a BMW (a recently horribly scratched BMW) :-(

I think I may take er May off the merry-juice. It fits nicely between the wife’s birthday and a wedding and would probably do me some good.

I know I probably shouldn’t drink a bottle of 14% wine on my own but as I’m quite er large I never feel particularly tipsy so don’t really think to stop :-S

hora – I guess I just don’t like the fact that I rely on alcohol to relax. I think I need to learn to moderate my intake in general as I’m probably drinking more than I should.

I may have to try the sparkly water thing but I think tonic water would just make be obsess about gin :-/

Has anyone ever tried a non alcoholic wine that’s vaguely drinkable?!

I’d like to stop for a bit because while I generally only drink at the weekend it can end up being a bottle of red on Friday night, 4 beers on Saturday and maybe even another bottle of wine on Sunday. That’s probably not good :-/

I think it’s more that if for example I sit down with Mrs RRR to watch a film I’d find it odd not to have a glass of wine precariously balanced on the sofa next to me.

Mrs RRR only really drinks at social events anyway so perhaps I need a paradigm shift or some such waffle..

    (i.e. just stop it)

Rockshox seem to be pretty good re sorting things out as long as you go via the retailer you bought them from. My Lyriks had premature corrosion under the paint on the crown and merlin were able to sort it very quickly for free..

I have no idea if they’re still there but Mike’s Bikes on Mill road did a good job for me (about 12 years ago mind!).

Not naked but I did manage to strip and rebuild my frame one afternoon whilst on a conference call.

What else are you supposed to do?

Yep it’s a fair point sockpoint. 5% seems to be the absolute minimum for a first time buyer with our LTV ratio.

I’m just annoyed by all my smug work mates who bought in 2007 and have tracker mortgages at about 1%!

Hi Matt. I did exactly the same as you this afternoon and got an online “in theory” quote.

I’m only intending to buy a modest house as we’re thinking of mini RRR’s at some point soon and need to be able to cover the mortgage on effectively once income (not easy when most first time buyer deals are around 5%!)

Did London & Country do a full search based on your circumstances or just a quick quote?

In answer to the question we have no CCJ’s but a small default from 3 years ago which I’m still trying to get removed (the company involved agreed not to default us if we made and stuck to an arrangement , which we did).

We both have permanent contracts (me an IT nerd, Mrs RRR a teacher) but I’m in the slightly unusual position of having an extra approx 35% of my basic wage as overtime, on-call and bonus which I suspect can’t be used for application purposes?

I did think about the above but have no idea on cost?!

As a BMW driver I was both shocked, appalled and dissapointed to be faced with an Audi coming directly towards me on the wrong side of the road on a blind bend the other day. True story.

No respect for my brake pads/tyres

    I like the zebras

It was all rollable the first year and I managed to break my hand practicing without successfully getting any air at all!

It’s not really a DH track of any sorts and a world apart from Wharncliffe (fun though).

I’ve ridden about twice this year but may enter if I can… I have unfinished business with the tree I bounced off >:-(

Well, I’d be a lot happier entering knowing that there are some other s?u?c?k?e?r?s? entrants that I will (vaguely at least) know!

    I was thinking about it.

I entered in 2011 but broke my hand practicing! Being a pootling non DHer I’d love to give it a go but am slightly intimidated! :-S

Well, Mrs RRR will soon be the proud owner of some purple GHD’s.

I got them from Toni and Guy in the end.. Bloomin Sheffield city centre with it’s no shops whatsoever ..

    Thanks all

    Right, thanks all.

I’m off to John Lewis – their site seems to suggest they have myriad GHD’s!

The wife’s hair is errm *thinks*… Just below shoulder length, quite thick and naturally wavey..

    Ah right. Thanks

Are there different models of them? What should I be looking for?

The wife’s blonde if that helps :-)

.. I think both references were to the coupe/cabriolets which whilst not “sports” cars arguably handle a lot better then many that profess to be .

    BMW 3 series coupe (E92) ?

Not exactly a sports car but is more refined / handles better than most, can take 4 adults in comfort and also two bikes!

Even my “little” 2.0L 320i is good for 0-60 in 8 seconds and 144mph should the opportunity arise.

I imagine the straight six petrol or diesels are amazing ..

    .. Or a Z4?

MrSmith – educate me in what’s a nice (reasonable) espresso coffee then! I have no clue really ..

Anonymouse – tempting but I don’t think I’d sleep again, ever.

I’ve spent approximately 1/3rd of the total duration of every bike trip I’ve ever been on, stuck in Glossop.

    Or so it seems

    Interesting this.

My wife bought me a mahoosive stove coffee pot and didn’t notice that it makes 9 cups of espresso in one go.

I tried partially filling it with coffee (i.e. really loose, couple of spoons) in order to make just a couple of cups and it tasted horrific even with reasonable (Lavazza) coffee :-/

Do I drink rancid coffee or make 9 espresso’s at a time?

Am I being dim? Is there any difference between the 2012 and 2013 model apart from the colours available?

    I’ve seen the 2012 for £160 which is an £60 saving ..

Hmm I’m thinking of the full waterproof one really. Do they stay waterproof ?

Do they new reproofing or can they be rejuvenated when a wash and tumble dry?

Agreed. I’m not a proper runner but when i started last year my shoes only cost £60 but I did at least get ones that accounted for my over-pronation which I had no idea I had until I was assessed.

It’s really worth being checked properly and you’re more likely to stick to the running if you’re comfortable and less prone to injury.
