    Anyone?

Couldn’t you just initiate some sort of conversation, see if there are any shared interests and go from there?

Take it slowly and don’t scare them off, is my advice..

I emailed a link to BBC news but can’t imagine they’ll be interested tbh

Well I guess at best Facebook might kick him off if we all report it.

Apparently it’s been reported to the Met but I can’t imagine they’ll do much unless the target makes a complaint.

I’ve no idea if the cyclist involved was hurt or not but I’ve heard of several similar incidents around here resulting in significant injuries :-/

Markie – do you reckon they’re strong enough to withstand a cast iron cover?!

How much soil did you have under your turf above the manhole?

    Ta

Welshfarmer – Intersting idea but I think I’d need 6 inches of soil for the turf to survive and that would the raise the manhole too far!

Hmm, but Google says the turf will die over a man hole cover.

    :-/

Argh. This could all get expensive.

I’m tempted to turf over it tbh!

But it’s a round cover that needs to sit on something round surely?

Well, it seems a bit of a waste of 3 pages of STW’s finest virtual thingy space ..

I finally caught up with my neighbour and he said “yeah whatever, it’s fine”

Even better, Mr Owner Of Land Out Back has let me dump all of the hedge on his land for a bonfire.

Perhaps being considerate of Mr Neighbour has paid off karma wise with Mr landowner?!

Nowt to add but you have a cracking view !!

Cheers, it’s not all great though as there’s a mainline railway hiding behind the trees and a fairly busy road at the front of the house. Still, it’s nice to sit in the conservatory and watch the gert big birds of prey circle above the trees ..

OP have you considered wife-swapping with your neighbour yet? I just thought I’d throw that idea into the bowl so to speak

Well I’m always looking for opportunities but alas my neighbour is a middle aged divorcee living on his own ..

hedgehog tunnels – noted. I’ve never seen any around our way but then I guess I wouldn’t if they’re all tucked up in hedgehog HQ.

I’m really hoping I can talk to Mr Neighbour as my turf is being deliveres on Monday. Failing all else I guess I can lay the turf and then hire a van to take the hedge to the tip, rather than burn it..

Anyone near Chesterfield or sheffield want to lend me a van?! :D

Del – it definitely is our fence , I’ve checked the deeds and everyfink.

The hedge will be going it’s just a case of trying to be nice about it!

    Mtbel – Yep Darbysherr , Engerlund :-/

They’re leylandi type trees stuffed together to make a hedge. I had a closer look earlier and it/they really are knackered..

Glad to see i’m not the only one with a yellowing Christmas tree lingering about, waiting to be disposed of.

:-) well I was going to sling it over the hedge but now I’m not so sure..

    RopeyReignRider

Mtbel – alas the hill is full of steep, techy woodland descents but of the strict footpath type :-/

The hedge is leylandi and has been fully checked for bird’s nests and pixies.

I have been knocking on my neighbours door quite regularly.

It’s not that I can’t lay turf with the hedge there, more that I can’t then have a big bonfire on the new turf and I have no means of getting stuff to a tip :-/

NEXT QUESTION: If you owned the land behind and some guy (who you’ve chatted to once) asked if he could use your old bonfire site to burn his hedges, would you find that odd/feel a offended?!

    RopeyReignRider

Oh and I have checked for bird’s nests and the like..

I’m pretty sure I can burn my hedge- other people seem to burn things .

    *shrugs*

What does he have his side of the hedge? Will you be removing the roots (I would think so)?

He has (from what I can tell) a rusty old garden chair, some rubbish and overgrown weeds behind the hedge.

I’m not sure about the roots tbh – was thinking of sticking the fence up and then dealing with them.

Yeah I’m not keen on removing hedges generally but the section at the back (already removed) had (for reasons unknown) a 6 foot gap in it. The bit at the side is pretty dead in places

The problem I have is that I need to get all the hedge removed and burned before I clear the ground for my turf and topsoil which will arrive very soon.

My neighbour’s a nice guy but it doesn’t look like he ever used his garden (I’m always trying to defend our garden from giant thorny triffids that climb over the fence)

I’ll be replacing it with some sort of wooden panel type thing.

For reference, hedge on the left at the bottom.

Well I just got my dropper post from bike discount.de and whilst it took a little longer to arrive it was about £80 cheaper than UK stockists (and a retail boxed one rather than OEM).

I just made sure I paid by credit card in case there were any issues etc

.. And there’s spare hex bolt, smaller than those used in the seat clamp and lever clamp?

Cheers! I think the double C bits could we’ll be to attach the hose to another in the absence of frame guides.

I can’t quite figure out how the hose guide fits?! The manual doesn’t mention any of these bits!

Whichever engine you choose .. One thing to bear in mind is that some models (usually M sports) have stepped tyres (wider and different profile) at the back whereas the SE’s usually have the same all round.

It’s worth checking and is handy if they’re all the same in that you can rotate them etc. Also, despite them looking nicer 18″ rims (or rather the tyres to fit) cost a shed load more than 17″ profile..

    You won’t get that from a 325 or 330 . My mates 330 does 35mpg absolute best!

    Hello

    Right, is it the 150bhp or 170? I have a 320i coupe (57 plate).

Revved hard it goes well 8 secs to 60 and keeps on going. I’ve got 48mpg from mine at 70mph and the lowest is about 30mpg crawling into town at 10mph.

The engine is very refined too. Ignore most of the Internet who compare it with a 320d (with more torque) – it’s a different beast and needs to be revved.

If you want any more info PM me! Buy it :-)

Well I’ve just ordered a 125mm reverb for £165 from bike discount .de

They also have the new 150mm jobbie (only available in stealth) for a very good price indeed.

    Do that :-)

Probably for the same reason you can’t spell ‘nonsensical’ :D
