^ Skagen look very sleek in a minimalist sort of a way. I love mine

I won’t be popular for saying this but… Just buy any secondhand player made in the last ten years or so.

15/20 years ago there was a noticeable difference between players, these days they all use one of about 3/4 DAC’s which have most of the analogue and digital filters built in. What this translates to is in actual fact most CD players sound incredibly similar!

Hifi buffs don’t like to do it but if you double blind test these things there’s usually naff all difference or at least naff all discernible difference. And before I get Mr What HiFi giving me grief, audio is one of the few things I know about (4yrs at Uni anyway) :-)

It’d only worry me if I thought that the government or their agencies had the grounds on which to request to view the data (via Court Order).

People seem to have lost the plot a bit – it’s not mass real time surveillance, it’s the logging of (mostly) metadata that can be requested to be viewed if there’s justification.

And yes I’m aware of the GCHQ SIM card / mobile hack(s) but personally have no reason to think they’d have any interest in me..

If you do go to bolehills just be aware that there have been a few bike-muggings in recent years (not sure if it’s better now).

You guys know about the keyboard shortcut thing on iPhones? You can basically get it autocorrect any word to another.

The problem is that we have mini RRR with us and a late bedtime in a strange house (visiting friends) could equate to an apopoleptic melt down when we arrive …

Pssst… Worth looking at the bargain cannondale Triggers and Jekyls at Paul’s Cycles. There were some real bargains last time I looked!

So… We went back in March and stayed in the Rugely travelodge which itself was fine and functional. However, Rugely itself wasn’t quite so welcoming in terms of evening beer and food.

We’re planning on returning to Cannock soon so.. Any further suggestions for accommodation for up to ten people’s?!?

Yeah I know. Disappointing innit. What to do?

Erm, what tyres for BMW that will let me “make progress” on country roads?

Should I fit a wood burning stove in my 1990’s plasterboardtastic house?

Sainsburys coffee in a mere cafetière- will I die?!

    Any more?

^ and I’m also not allowed to stamp on baby robins either, I take it?

Yes it seems it is a pavement dunt it. Lesson learned although admittedly it didn’t seem obvious at the time

    Seeee sir!

I’m not the only one who’s bad!

An older boy made me do it!

Guess I’ll just have to pay it and think about what I’ve done :-(

I knew someone would spot that sign! It’s a security notice not a parking notice.. :-)

    RopeyReignRider

Bencooper – you have a point about the pavement and I wouldn’t have parked anywhere which would cause an obstruction but as silly as it sounds, this area is completely derelict with literally no one around, no business’s or homes.

Tbh if the ticket had said ‘obstructing pavement’ then I’d understand it. I must admit I didn’t think about the pavement until I got back to the car.

The sign says whatever the restricted hours are. Maybe I am just stupid but I didn’t think it was a pavement as it’s usually covered in cars :-/

This place was great – not technically in the Lakes so reasonably priced and has a very good pub virtually next door.

    Highly recommended

    I’m rubbish at this stuff!

Ok – I want to live equidistant (ish) from:

    The Hope Valley (peaks)
    Adel in Leeds
    Lea near Gainsborough
    Harrogate
    Derby

    Thanks :D

Cybex Sirona here too – pricey but sprog can stay rearward facing up to 4 (apparently it’s fine for them to have bent legs), it’s a swivelly one and can also be changed to forward facing too. It also has a smaller footprint than a lot of swivel base ones.

Not a bad price for not a bad car I guess. I’m sure it’s more than quick enough (same as my 320d) but as others have said they have a lot of show for a little bit more go than the average mundeo etc

I’d still be tempted. I assume the lovely alpha has been disowned?!

^^ that’s pretty impressive for the money – assuming that was in 720?

Right , cheapest place to get one before Friday (biking trip to Glentress/Inners).?!

I have a £20 Amazon voucher – any suppliers do real guaranteed next day delivery?!

We had this a few years back. The council will ultimately need to record the noise in order to “quantify”
It as a nuisance , which is particularly hard to do with transient noise such as voices. It’s much easier with music or industrial noise.

We ended up reporting our neighbours to their Uni who were actually very good. Things escalated to the point where the Uni asked me if I wanted them to be suspended from their courses. I had a moment of being too soft and actually said a final warning would do. Thankfully we moved not long afterwards..

But yep – Uni is probably the most effective solution but be warned, it may take a while. Obviously try talking to them calmly and rationally first!

    @rse

We’ve had the car ten days and today the “pollution warning” message came up and now the engine management light too! The engine runs very smoothly .. Ideas anyone?

^ we had thought about this too but I haven’t a clue about where to look or how far south you need to go to get nice weather?!

I’ve overcome the general travel worry now so am not too stressed about the flight.

I think that younger sproglets (under a year) are probably a bit easier to get to sleep in that they’re not as aware of the change of environment. Mini RRR will almost definitely not go to sleep if he can see us I reckon ..

Yep we’ve done this on occasion but usually at weddings when we’re ready for bed ourselves.

I’ve found some cracking deals on hotels but I think you’re right – it could end up being an expensive and tortuous 14 nights..

    Well..

The 1.6 we’d hoped to have got turned out to be a complete and utter lemon. How it passed it’s MOT is anyone’s guess!

We have now just bought a 1.4 LX instead (not the best engine granted) but for £1200 with 67k miles , new coil pack , new plugs , new fuse board (?!), new suspension bushings and 8 months left of a transferable warranty, it seemed like not a bad deal.

It is due a timing belt change though (10 yrs old) – any idea on cost for that?!

Oh dear, I’m assuming someone will pipe up now saying how classical music has a massive dynamic range (which obviously it does) and sounds amazing on their £££££ turntable?

Re the cassette deck – if you question it you don’t understand how and to what end most music is mastered.

:-) just after a run around for Mrs RRR to continue to learn in and then ferry mini RRR around in Stan..
