Don’t go with the settings they mean nothing as every machine is different it’s the drag factor that counts. You’ll find this through the settings on head unit. Once you get a drag you like then you can replicate on any machine…

Eg my erg at level 4.5 is 126 drag and I like this , old erg at gym level 9 gives me this but that’s cause it needs cleaned.

    It’s worth looking at :-)

Oh yeh, use C2 from October to February instead of swimming. 10k is nice, go for a half or full marathon then it’s tough, especially on he ass!
In December me and few friends try and row the date, 10k a day until 10th then you row date in k’s. never managed the full lot yet, usually miss a few days but gets to 450k in a month.

Can I ask why this is needed? My reverb is only 10mm from the seat post to the bottom of the big bolt bit? Is this included in the 75mm required?

My mrs was in my bike shed last week laughing about and counting my bikes, I did mention to her that there was one at work in the bike locker and one in the shop getting fixed. She just laughed added another 2 and asked why do you need so many bikes!

 there wasn’t one at work or shop but it leaves me room for more…..

No stealth purchases I tell her but she hardly listens when I mention bikes…….. She once had a go at me to look at real porn instead of bike porn!

Over winter I row, Im fitter in february than when peaking for races!
Good for all over body development especially the engine! You will find the short sharp climbs easy in spring!

Anyone else on row pro ?

2k times hard to compare as you get lwt or hwt categories ;)

As for 2k’s, they are, and shall always remain, the spawn of satan’s personal training regime.

    Oh yes!!!!

As for level 10 or level 1 …… Not important as mentioned before you really need to find the drag factor on the machine. My home C2 is level 5.5 for drag of 126 what I use. While at work it’s level 4 for this and the gym level 8 (I have told them it needs a Hoover out!)

Best iv seen was at gym ….. Instructor giving induction to an over weight female who was keen to loose weight, never used a rower before. Instructor ramps up to level 10 and says 5 mins and walks away! She struggled but once shown a simple legs, core, arms pull and lowered level. She got on a lot better!

Concept 2 best machine. Get row pro and connect to virtual world and race others or train with others, its very addictive. From September to January I row rather than swim for training and soon becomes addictive…..only machine that I need a sick bucket beside me in my garage

2k TT on erg worse than any intervals on bike or run!

Labmonkey – cheap track SRM for singlespeed? Or ergomo?
I think the point you make about the energy cost of standing on pedals is massive and a stress score from a powermeter would miss this out. I know when a run the day after a Mtb my quads are similar to a hard off road run when downhill running kills the quads. This maybe a way I can train my legs for standing on pedals, I’ll let you know.
As iv said before I find this part the hardest at present but expect the muscles to get used to it once on a Mtb daily training etc.

Hi mate, yeh was looking for similar to tritalk.

Sounds similar to yourself although I’m having a year off long as mrs is expecting end of October. So short hard and fast stuff sounds like I can fit in especially as Glentress on doorstep.
Still have ambitions of a Sub 10 IM and ……. Hawaii!

Definitely the legs hurt more when not pedalling different use of muscles so kettlebells and squats will be tried. The skills side is the hard bit as going up hill is fine…. It’s the down and cornering fast.
When comparing heart rate files Mtb is just interval / fartlek training.

Your right about the bento box and also Lycra!!! Did the Glentress 7 and had s bento box on bike ….. No idea how many liked the idea of it though .

Got a great duathlons series up here over winter £20 for 3 Mtb duathlons races.

The Sporttracks software gives me my ATL, CTL and TSB which works well. Use this with all my training and daily activities. The plug in if interested is training load well worth the look.
Iv found over the winter I cross train on a concept 2, I find this a great way of developing upper body aswell as great engine work.
Thanks for the input. Time to go practice.

…. I know time in saddle and quality over quantity is better but I still find it hard to get my head round a 2 hour ride being 18 mile instead of 36. :-)

Yep mate perfect sense, cheers. I use Sporttracks to record trimp score as no power. Works on heart rate stress score.
It’s the other body aches iv noticed more especially legs when descending !
Usefull info for turbo mate cheers as I can change training sessions on that and see power out in these.

Upper body workouts beneficial too? More muscle up top ?

Cheers, I’m moving from long distance tri training and looking at short Mtb tri or duathlons. So working on shorter intervals will be a start. I live very close to glentress, would finding a nice shortish loop of 30-40 mins be good and doing 3 or 4 laps? This would practice intervals and skills ?

(Moving from using a powermeter on tri bike to going on PE is good and I’m sure my power is higher on Mtb!, heart rate is and this peaks going downhill ;). )

Just looking for info on what people do for Mtb training. I’m from a tri back ground and all training on a road bike. Want to get more information on different ways people train on a Mtb. Looking at getting more into Mtb ….
Skill is a big part I think so how much time just practicing that?

Great fun climbs were magic the downhills no so much fun as I’m not a real mtber yet! Whole day was well organised and another one for respect to marshals. All cheery and liked a chat….. Even took requests for songs for when i passed on my next laps.

I planned on 7 laps and managed 7 even though I took on a rock face first at the decent into pennels vennel on lap 6.

I got in at 4:28 and was told go for another one… A cheeky rude reply followed with a huge smile though.

I need to practice roots and off camber riding the last decent was good but I was slow.

I might get into this mtbing but I’ll still shave my legs ;-)
    My cuts are healing already
