While i am aware that CRC forms part of the holy trinity on STW, the other 2 being On-One & Chocolate Hob-Nobs, i cannot see a problem with people posting about problems with CRC. In the grand scheme of things i am fairly sure the positive posts about CRC still outweigh the negatives.

    Damn, i’ve missed the hob-nob discussions… Please restart!! 😀

If you pick too early you get that clear pool underneath where the skin hasn’t yet formed…

can one ever not pick too early ?

Well you can pick round the edges, make it last for a few days!

Thank you for signing up to Hit the North 1.5 – Winter Sprinter
    A Mancunian Winter Bike Race

    Saturday Feb 7th 2009
    10am Start.
    Registration is at from 8:30 – 9.30am

Philips Park, Park Lane, Prestwich, Manchester
    OS Grid: 799045 Postcode: M45 7QJ

A 2 hour (plus one lap) bike race around Philips Park and Waterdale. There is no restriction on the type of bike as long as it has two wheels and one rider. The course has a bit of everything. 3 miles of fast hardpack, woodland single track, tarmac, raised decks, steps and quite a lot of mud. In an attempt to keep the costs down there will be no camping or showers, but you will be able to buy some hot food and drinks.

Any money that we make will be given away to BTCV. They do work maintaining the British countryside including Philips Park and they are letting us use their office and toilet for a very reasonable price

    CAR PARKING
When you arrive please use Car Park 1 or park past the houses on the Philips Park Road. People parking on Car Park 1 are asked not to leave whilst the race is in progress as it will involve crossing the course.

    REGISTRATION
You must register before the start at The Barn Centre. Registration will open at 08.30hrs and close at 09.30 hrs. There will be a race briefing near the Start/Finish at 09.50.

    THE RULES
The race is 2 hours plus finishing the last lap.
Each rider will be issued with a number to wear on their arm that must both be visible to the lap counters.
Every rider must wear a helmet.

    OVERTAKING
It is the responsibility of the rider doing the over taking to do it safely. There are short sections of the course where overtaking is NOT PERMITTED for obvious safety reasons. All restrictions will be clearly signed. If you come across a slower rider you should warn them that you intend to pass and on which side. If there is no overtaking opportunity at that particular point then wait until there is one. Barging people out of the way or losing your temper because someone isn’t as quick as you will not be tolerated. Conversely, if you are pushing your bike or are obviously going slowly please get off the racing line to allow others to pass.
A full run down of the rules can be found on our website. http://www.hitthenorth.net

    SECURITY
Whilst we will be taking measures to limit access to the site please be aware that the race takes place in a semi-urban area. We do not take responsibility for the security of your bikes or any other possessions. Do not leave your bike lying around. Lock it up in your car if you have to leave it unattended.

that’s what I thought… It was the bike mount that made me wonder.

I think i’d get a Cateye CC HR200DW Wireless instead. That looks like it’s a good one.

Martin Brundle got away with calling the workers relaying the asphalt at the Canadian Grand Prix Pikeys, which is far worse than calling a one eyed scot a one eyed scot..

His idiot status is obviously open to discussion.

oh i know it’ll be a mud bath…but which bike will be better in it?

cx bike with super skinny tyres = great in some slop but not on any nadgery bits

hardtail = slidey in mud but more controllable on anything techy

these are the issues of someone with more bikes than sense

I’ve got one bike and one set of tyres, so it’s a simple choice for me..

We’ve got the same problem, up here in north manchester.

    No C4
    No E4
    No More 4
    and no Film 4

    every other channel is fine.

Engineers have been out and fitted a new dish, 2 different lnbs, recabled and still no change.

they’re coming back with a ‘scottish spec’ dish and pointing it at another satellite as the Astra one has ‘moved’…

not paying for it, so if that’s what they’re saying then fine.

(I’d heard it was something to do with freesat and the C4 frequencies, but i’m probably wrong).

yes I’ve heard the original Nine Inch Nails version of Hurt, but there’s something about the Johnny Cash version that improves on the original.

BTW NIN’s cover of Queen’s Get Down Make Love is great too..
