brak – I have to agree with you there.. I’ve gone from a 130ps Mondeo TDCI to a Vectra 120ps.

The drop of 10ps isn’t to much of a problem, it’s the complete lack of torque. Probably due to it being an 8v 1.9l compared to 1 16v 2l. The SRi’s suspension leaves a lot to be desired, the stereo is pi$$ poor compared to the mondeo one and the fuel consumption is worse.

Having said that, the space inside is miles more than in the mondeo. I’ll stick with it for another 2 years and then look at the insigna (don’t like the new mondeo) or perhaps a passat/skoda estate.

Me, I went out the other night, 14 miles singletrack, bridleways and a fair bit of me walking very slowly up hills pushing a not so heavy bike! Killed me, but I feel so much better for doing it!

I’ve been there on a stag do, had something to eat, about 40 minutes later I was sick as a dog… I hadn’t even started drinking by that point! (Admittedly it was a hot dog stand on the prom)

Another time, went to see the ‘luminations and had a sit down meal as had kids with us.. Same thing happened.. It may not be the food, I may just be allergic to the place!

Are you sure it’s the turbo? I had a similar problem with my mondeo at 97K. It was the hose between the turbo and the EGR valve. The oil from the turbo eventually rots the pipe so that it splits, causing the whoosh that you got (between 2-3000rpm) the power loss is because the split opens up and dumps all the boost pressure out.

Mine cost £120 to fix with a pipe from eBay.

Just check the pipe first before you splash out on a turbo.

The pipe is situated at the front left and if you feel round it there will be an oily residue over the pipe. Give it a squeeze and you should be able to see the split.

I did part of that ride last night,from RMR up through cowpe, down to edenfield and back, but it was dark and foggy….

I can say, though, it was very very very muddy in places with quite a bit of pooled water.

Looking at the map, I suspect the only nasty bit will be the climb out of edenfield up to Cowpe.
