I use Lifeline wall racks for 26″, 27.5″, 29″ & 700c wheels all successfully. MTBs have been used with a variety of tyre sizes, from 2.1 Trail kings to 2.35 Hans Dampfs.
I did enlarge the screwholes to accept M8 rawlbolts rather than the rather small screws included, just to be sure they stay attached to the wall. Bikes weigh up to about 32lbs.

Gloves. I must have about 15 pairs. If they’re on (a good) offer I can’t seem to resist. A couple of pairs are still in their original wrapping.

Have you offered to sell them to your buyers? They might be in need of appliances…

Can’t help you with the bargains bit, but I followed the DC Rainmaker guide to installing OSM on my 810 & they’re plenty good enough for on & off-road navigating IME. Not worth paying for garmin’s version IMO.

Don’t need to drill it out, should slot straight in. Look like this:

Just use the split pin that comes with the OEM pads? I should have a spare one knocking around somewhere if you want one?

Don’t use Royal Mail! There are warnings on most suspension service places not to use them. Plenty of other couriers will do this for you, try parcel monkey for a quote.

This was mentioned in an interview on Pinkbike recently http://www.pinkbike.com/news/steve-parr-interview.html

PB: Can you expand on what you said about riders having to take their own insurance?

UKGE: We are currently talking with numerous insurance companies about personal insurance. What a lot of people don’t realise is that they think they are insured with BC, but its only Public Liability which is 3rd party, the riders will get nothing if they are involved in an accident. Its only a third party that will receive money, not many people actually realise that. Until you get a race license then you have a bit more insurance. But what we are talking about is that if you actually want to come and race one of our UK Gravity Enduro events next year you will have to take out personal insurance. We will provide a contact and a price, which should be very competitive

PB: So insurance to cover personal injury, damage to your equipment?

UKGE: Yeah Public liability, loss of earnings and whatever they need to get back right, we’re currently looking into that.

Long-winded method tthew & not using pivot table to full potential. Njee has it:

Highlight “Functional Loc” column, Insert pivot table. Tick the box at the top of the pivot table box, which should place “Functional loc” in the “Row lables” box. Drag “Functional Loc” into the “Values” box. It should contain “Count of Functional Loc” & the number of instances for each reference is produced.

Mostly me. I don’t like the idea of something going wrong with my bikes & having to rely on someone else to fix it. That and I’m the kind of person that likes to know how stuff works.

The only thing I’ve not taught myself yet is building & truing wheels. And due to the cost of the tools I use an LBS for chasing & facing BB shells.

Unlike the XTRs, it’s relatively easy to get into the reservoir of the XTs. Undo the bleed screw and torx bolt and the silver cover comes off to expose the rubber diaphragm, similar to what you’d see with the older shimano reservoirs. Mine was full of black sludge after a couple of Alps trips, cleaned it out with some cotton buds and IPA.

You don’t have to use countrywide for conveyancing with HSBC, you can now choose a solicitor to act for you & HSBC if they are CQS accredited (see here). Check this before you appoint a solicitor as it causes a bit of a nightmare otherwise.

And I’ll echo the sentiment about being prepared to do everything online & then spend an hour on the phone sorting it out (this is for a new house purchase). We remortgaged with them just over a year ago without too much hassle.

I’ll throw some caution in amongst all the MTFUs; make sure you’re well-hydrated and if the pain continues to worsen and becomes constant, your arms swell a lot & your piss turns brown, get yourself to A&E asap. Look up rhabdomyolisis.

Happened to me when I joined a gym. Already had a good cycling fitness & was used to pushing myself & pushed too hard on the first session. Pain increased over the following week & my arms swelled to a the size I was hoping to get my muscles over the next 6 months! NHS direct advised a trip to A&E. Triage nurse was quite dismissive, but when the doc got my bloods back my CK levels were around 15,000 u/l & they suddenly got worried.

Great Idea! I’d been trying to work out how to do this & hadn’t thought about using the tripod adapter. I’ve got a spare one somewhere…

Butter ftw. Kerrygold for the added Vit A, D & K boost that comes with grass-fed cow-produce. I don’t really eat bread either (processed wheat makes me feel lethargic), but still find plenty of uses for butter.

What are you cooking your steaks in if not butter? Adding to cooked veg?

We had 22 viewings on our house, 9 offers with 4 over the asking price. Sold within a week of going on the market a little over 3 weeks ago. Bristol.

Unfortunately we were in the same boat when trying to buy somewhere & have had to pay over asking price for the new house, with 11 viewings & 4 offers going to best & final.

Given my track record with timings on buying houses, expect a sharp fall in house prices in the next 3 months.

Has anyone found a good way to mount the XML lights to helmets where the vents don’t allow it to be done easily? I’m having to hang on to a very old Giro Xen because I’ve struggled to mount the SSX2/smudge XML/old DX P7 to any other helmets.

Wash with Nik Wax tech wash, then re-proof with Nikwax TX Direct. I got a ball to put in the drum with clothes, rather than using the detergent drawer.

You need to make sure the washing machine is free from normal detergent before doing it too. A blast on empty at 90 degrees will usually clean it out.

You can use KMC chains on a road bike in general, but in terms of yours working fine it depends how worn its gotten on the MTB and how old the road cassette is. You might get either premature wear or the chain may slip.

French surgeon has told me not to move the arm at all for the first 4 days, then only “passively” (not under its own strength) for the following 35. This seems at odds with what i’ve read online about when physio begins, but i’ll wait until i’ve seen an actual expert before doing anything differently.

Changed the stapling dressing last night; worst tan lines ever.

edit: Earliest appointment with GP is next thursday. Another in our group has recommended going to a minor injuries clinic, who will be unable to treat it, but will refer me to a fracture specialist asap. r/e the notes, hopefully they can read french!

Does the metalwork need to come out? If so when? That might affect things.

French surgeon said to leave it in unless it was causing pain. Very close to a nerve apparently.

Sleep isn’t great but certainly longer than 30 mins. Manage around 3-4 hours. Tramadol helping

Are you in the clinic in Moutiers by any chance? Have the admin staff been up to see you and told you “don’t be in a hurry to leave, stay as long as you need!” while casting a greedy eye over your travel insurance policy?

Spent 3 days in bourg, now spending the rest of my hols watching the rest if the group enjoying their trip.

I have a skiing trip booked for January. Am I being too optimistic to think it might be plausible?

I’ve used Fat Albert, Big Betty & Hans Dampf the last 2 years of 2 weeks in Les Arcs. All in snakeskin with no punctures or slashes. The tread-wear by the end of 2 weeks renders them only good for the bin though.

rondo101, they’re not pre-built “Hoops” but we do have Flow Ex 650b rims in stock ready to make them into “Hoops” with a full choice of hub colours.

    Alpine trip saver! Ordered.

I had the same last week, from speaking to them it seems the “in stock” status on their website does not mean in stock, it just means they can get is on a fast turnaround from their supplier – IF the supplier have stock.

That’s the case for lots of online bike shops though isn’t it? I know for a fact that Hope have run out of 650b Flow Ex rims & can’t provide any pre-built “Hoops” until the beginning of next month at the earliest. Yet searching online shows plenty of places alleging to have them “in stock”. A phone call to each place I’ve found has shown that they certainly aren’t.

There’s a guy that sells excellent coffee from a mobile unit on College Green in Bristol, who has now started selling his own bean blend. £12 a kg, way better than the stuff the wife bought from an online “coiffured, artisanal douchebag”. Win.

I had the same deliberation as OP a couple of years back. Bought a Edge 500 & haven’t regretted it. Or run out of phone battery on a ride, which is a big plus.
