Are you getting full travel? Similar thing happened to my 2010 Reba Team where oil dropped from the BB MoCo into the lowers (google “Rock Shox hydrolock”). Lockout stopped working & I was only getting ~80mm of travel (out of 120mm). Fixed under warranty, but this option is only available to the original owner IIRC.

Depends what day & what time you get there. Arrive at Pedalabikeaway after midday on a weekend & you’ll likely struggle to park. Get there for 9am & you’ll have the car park to yourself. YMMV.

    Something like this?

Not used it personally, but am considering getting one.

Do it up as tight as possible & if you’re wearing a camelbak, tighten the chest strap over the mount.

Nice review. I’m seriously considering getting one of these, although probably just the 9.0.

How tall are you & what size did you go for? Was it via the “Canyon sizing guide” & does the bike feel right?

Done any steep technical stuff? How does the geometry feel? Likewise, how does it climb?

Not particularly bike-specific, but if you were to go 1 x 10 with that XTR rear mech (the one with the “clutch”), would you need a chain guide?

On my commute to & from work through Bristol city centre each day I definitely see more cars running red lights than cyclists. But I rarely hear anyone complaining about this, whereas RLJing cyclists are brought up in most conversations with non-cyclists as their biggest complaint. Whether its safe or not is a moot point; by doing so you are contributing to the negative opinion most non-cyclists have of us.

Really? Just that I’ve got two OEM pairs, and upped the travel in both, by removing the spacers…

    Me to (thankfully).

I said “some” OEM ones. Not “all”. A quick search for posts on here will bring up plenty of examples where people couldn’t increase travel.

Some OEM ones can’t be upped. So without taking them apart, you won’t know for sure.

Edit – if it’s this one, then the “max travel: 100mm” bit would lead me to believe you’ll only get 100mm out of them…

you seem to be misisng the point – the actual mortgage i save 26k and 6 years. When i finish paying the mortgage i can save £1400 a month for those six years so i will have savings of £10800 in the bank when my old mortgage would be due to run out plus the £26k saving on the mortgage

‘fraid not buddy. You need to ignore the fact you’ve “saved” £26k on the mortgage. That would have been paid with the 6 years x £1100 a month repayments you’ve avoided paying by repaying early.

Took out the old back boiler & hacked fireplace back to brick myself. Got someone in to line it with fireboard & skim it and put in a new cement hearth. A friend supplied & installed the slate hearth, then a chap from the stove place supplied & installed the flue, liner, plate & chimney cowl. All that was £1100 & then £700 for the stove. And it’s the best £1800 we’ve spent on the house.

The Ikon was released with the same RRP recently.

Rubber prices are going through the roof, so I fear this may be a sign of things to come. 3 years ago it was $0.54 a pound. Today it is $1.84 a pound, having fallen from highs of $2.80 in February of this year. The cost of buying supply at the peak will be passed down to the end user. As the populations of India & China get richer & more of them can afford cars, rubber consumption will increase & the price will continue upwards.

TL;DR – Skids are for kids. And the wealthy.

In this day and age most people especially the 40 something’s that mountain bike and buy stuff regularly and have a job with a PC on their desk

    but they may be:
    a) busy
    b) have limited internet access at work

    You’re missing a trick there…
    [/quote]

+1. I can’t access ebay at work & don’t bother with anything finishing during the day.

A friend got a carbon spesh road bike for a song that someone had listed to finish at the same time as England played Germany in the world cup.

    Wiggle shows them at £360!?!?!

Well bu**er me, so they do. When I bought mine a few weeks back from Wiggle they were £300 standard price; £265 with the platinum discount.

    Apologies.

    Tredz £299.

I’ve got a 10% discount code that needs to be used by 27 December (which I won’t do) you can have, taking it to £269.10 delivered. Email me if you want it.

Buy a “fake” one for the proposal & then go shopping together. This is what I did & discovered that the rings I’d have chosen wouldn’t have been the ones she have.

And if you’re nearish the midlands I’d recommend spending a saturday in the jewellery quarter. Saved* loads of money (almost a grand over similar rings on the high street with lower clarity diamonds).

*Rather she got a better ring for the money. My expenditure would’ve been the same.

Would buying them a cafetiere & coffee for xmas be going a step too far?

Then we could ask to “try it out” after xmas dinner.

    Correct.
Collars on to the ends of your hose (don’t cut the plastic cover back; it’s a tight fit, but they will go on).
Screw the “M8 0.75 Male Fixed” into the lever.
Screw the banjo into one end of the hose.
Then screw the other end of the hose onto the M8 connector in the lever.
Connect the banjo to the caliper (work out the angle it needs to be at before adding mineral oil).

If 2m isn’t long enough & you need to buy hose separately then per brake you’ll need

    2 x http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=20453
    1 x http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=20445
    1 x http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=20447

And use the Shimano banjo bolt & o-rings.

Works out slightly cheaper than the connector kit.

*Edit – post reading fail. You’ll need most of the bits in the kit, so the latter link won’t do.*

Yep, although the full kit will work out cheaper. Hose is apparently ~2m long, if that’s long enough for you?

I don’t think so. The shimano banjo appears to be crimped to the original hose, so not sure if you’d be able to just switch it over. Replacement hoses are shipped with the banjo already attached

Ramonol marine grease for bearings & hubs, shimano anti-seize for BB threads & Ti rotor bolts, judy butter on forks & lithium grease for anywhere else that needs it.

Both my LUST High Roller & Advantage, on stans crest & arch respectively, have slight wobbles despite the bead line being perfectly straight on each. The first Advantage I had had a really bad wobble, but sent it back for a replacement.

As per BW; swap it or live with it.

In which case, if anyone is interested, it is cheaper to buy rear bearings for a Hope Pro 2 Evo (2 x S61903, 2 x S6803/S61803 & 1 x S17287) separately from UK Bikestore than it is to buy the full kit from them.

Merlin have said that seals aren’t covered under warranty & would cost c£100 to get fixed (including full service).

Surely it can’t be that difficult to do myself. Any idea which seal kit I’ll need?

push the pistons out a bit before removing the hoses, attach hoses & push pistons in again. Any air introduced to the system when reconnecting the hoses will be pushed to the levers. Then put the bleed block in the caliper and attach the bleed funnel & pump the lever a few times to allow the air bubbles to escape.

Not caused by demand, but limited supply. Increase the supply & prices will start to fall. But because an awful lot of people are in negative equity, or very low LTV, they can’t move & therefore supply is restricted.

If interest rates stay low, then house prices will be reduced in real terms (by high inflation) & eventually become “affordable”. If interest rates rise then the sudden increase in supply (from reposessions) will push the prices down.

FYI you can’t autofocus with the 50mm f/1.8d on the D40. It does make you good at manual focussing, although I’d recommend an eyepiece magnifier to make it a bit easier.
