Fingers crossed my not so spotless credit history doesn’t scupper the order I’ve just placed for one of these frames! Tense 24 hours till I find out.

Seems a fair price. When are you looking to get one? Just thinking about timescales for getting a new frame myself.

I bought some 150 to 120 pike dpa’s and have been running them on my 2013 t129s for about three weeks. Bloody awesome! Don’t really drop them to 120 at all. It’s the type if fork the frames been begging for.
I’ve a large frame that I maybe interested in selling….. Not yet a year old. Has paint chips from usual wear and tear. What’s your ballpark?

Just seen this post now, I’m the person from ulverston Cronos. Yup mine snapped in exactly the same place too, now have an updated rear stay fitted. No problems since. Supposedly braking force issue as mentioned above. I’ve had quite a few problems with my bike, forks, reverb, brakes, snapped seat stay but all have been sorted under warranty. Disappointed in all the problems but I still love it. Just wish it had more travel on the front end. Whyte confirmed that fitting a longer travel fork will invalidate the frame warranty as they’ve not tested it. Still tempted to go for a pike or xfusion trace.

Haha, the “Friday” bike saga continues! My reverb gave up on me last night and won’t hold air anymore! Won’t go up anymore. Off it goes for another rockshox component warranty claim. Forks, brakes and now reverb!?!

    Tyre update for peeps!
Had my wheels laced up with stans flow ex’s and due to the mahoosive rim width the nn I had on the rear wouldn’t fit anymore. Did a bit of research and bought myself a maxxis minion dhr 2 2.3.
Minimum of 4mm clearance on drive side chain stay. Boy, what a tyre!!! Apart from being draggy on hard pack and Tarmac, it’s the best rear tyre I’ve ever had!

I’m the same with the front end lifting, I do struggle a bit with that aspect, even if I get my weight right forward. I’ll be getting wider bars and moving spacers above the stem if I keep struggling. I just love how it descends as it is though!

I’ve got the same bike, being honest I think going to a 22 would be a waste of money and time. When I first got it I did find it more difficult than my old 26er with a 32/22 but now I’m climbing most stuff in the 38! I’m going to go 1×10 with a 32 on the front at some point. It’ll hurt at first but i should get used to that too. I live and ride in the lakes mainly so lots of tough climbs here.

    Haha, “monster trucks, monster trucks!”
Yeh, it seems to get a little out of its depth on some of the descents I do. On flowy stuff it’s supreme. I will get it perfect one day though. Might wait till crc are banging the likes out discounted though.

I love how big my t-129 is. It’s a large too! I still run all the spacers under the stem so can lower the front if it gets too high. Think it’d be perfect for the riding I do up here in the lakes with a bigger fork on the front, little bit too noodley at the moment. Still great but stiffer longer fork would maximise the bikes downhill potential!

Lbs rode the g-150 which comes with a rockshox pike. Said the fork was brilliant. Super supple at the top of stroke. That’s the plan for my t-129s in the end, 140mm pike up front.

G-150 looks more like t-129. Similar suspension layout. Alu frames, no carbon as far as I could see. There’s a new carbon m-109 though.

That’s going to be my next upgrade after my new rims. New brakes are being fitted today.
Think they’re replacing the 146 with the t-129 works, g-150 and g-150 works. Colour schemes are all a bit dull though.

Just seen a brochure at my lbs!
Colours are all three models are greyish, looks like it might be anodised. Different colour decals differ between models. For people who have a 2013 mode, the only real differences I can see are: reverb stealth, front derailleur cable internally routed (along with reverb), 750mm bars, shorter stems, wtb tyres instead of maxxis on t129s. Think that’s about it. Oh apart from the shock mount on the top tube not having solid plates like the 2013 model, has cut outs in each side. Personally I think the 2013 colours are better. There is a works model now though, good spec. Not sure on pricing though.

The 146 is dead, long live the g-150! 150mm 27.5 enduro bike. Looks pretty awesome.

So the pestering has paid off, my lbs has been in contact with ATB (whyte distributor) and they’ve agreed to swap my elixir 5’s for some shimano slx’s with a matchmaker adapter. yay! just waiting for them to arrive at the shop then they’ll fit them. well chuffed.

I went out last week, and landed a “small” jump on a nasty rock, blew my tyre off and flat spotted my rear rim big time. I’ve ordered some stans flows to get swapped on. Just wondering if anyone’s running flows yet and whats the biggest tyre they can fit on the back?

I could live with the noise. It’s the vibration that’s the problem. Whole fork vibrates and rear end. You can see the fork vibrating forwards and backwards under braking! Best way to describe it is as if the disc is made up of grippy sections and spaces. So you get an abs like effect.

So thought I’d put in a quick update.
Got the bike back last Saturday. Sram have changed the lowers on the fork as they agreed there was a knock. They put in some Sid lowers. Said same as reba. Not sure though. They look pretty similar. Gloss black though not Matt. Nice and plush again with no knocking anymore.
The shop had done research on the brake problem and contacted avid. They swapped the rotors to a different style and put new pads in. They told me to bed them in as per avid instructions which I did. 20 times from about 12mph down to walking and then 10 times at about 20mph.
Went out and halfway through ride started again. So it’s def not rotors or pads! That’s one thing I guess! I’ll see how it is this weekend. Then back to the shop if it doesn’t sort itself! Again. Wish I could just pay the difference to get some formulas or hopes. Problem would be solved then I’m sure!

Supposed to be fine. They offer a fratelli tubeless tape in their website for tubeless set up. Supposed to be thinner than usual tape or something.

Let us know how much of an improvement they are over the stock wheels. I was looking at these for future poss purchase.

My fingers are crossed for you. Mine are doing my head in, third time back at the shop now. be interesting to know if new rotors stops it though.

Mine have got so bad that the make the whole fork vibrate visibly. It feels like abs? on off really quickly? The rear got so bad at one point the whole frame was vibrating really loudly.

Yeh mattjg, that’s what I thought. went out on it last night, made me appreciate how good mine is! The giant’s ok at climbing but no where near as much fun.

Boloclips that’s a new one on me, mine appears to be ok but thanks for the heads up I’ll keep checking it. What size frame are you riding?

Found another thread on here with a guy with a t129 who’s experiencing brake vibration too. Seems it may not just be me…..

Ah ha! Another person with a t129 / t129s brake vibration. Is it just after a long ride with yours? Mines back in the lbs for the third time trying to sort it out. I must admit though, mines doing it all the time now. they’ve swapped pads to a different make and the vibration goes away for a bit but comes back after a ride or two. Is it front and rear? Turkey gobble like sound too?

So…. Dropped bike into lbs and showed them what was wrong. They agreed about vibration on the brakes being wrong and the fork knocking. Back to sram it goes. They were decent enough to lend me a giant trance x2 29er to keep me riding in the mean time. Just hope I don’t prefer it! I doubt it highly though.

Fingers crossed its right this time.

Regarding stems, I tried a 40mm on mine and I found The front wheel tended to wash out in corners. Think it was due to not enough weight over the front wheel. I think a 60mm would be perfect for me. I ride a large though with an 80mm as standard. Remember that if you’ve changed to wider bars it has the effect of making your stem longer. Or so I believe.

I see where you’re coming from mattjg. I went out today and the brakes are still down on power and making noises. Hoped they might sort themselves out. Guess not! The forks are still knocking, more so I think. Guy I went using with said if it was him he’d take them back again. So, I shall be following yours and his advice and taking them back again. Going to complain as it’s getting silly, been there three times now so seeing as the shops ten miles away that’s gonna be 60 miles worth if fuel in total, let alone the time without the bike. I might give whyte a call too and see what they say. Thanks for the advice though. I’ve also had a thought that the loose fork internals might be amplifying the brake problems?

By the way, I’m running a hans dampf up front and a nobby nic on the rear, both tubeless on the stock rims. They’ve been faultless. Super grippy too.

I can understand why you ditched the avid brakes twoniner, I remember now getting rid of my last set years ago that were on an old bike, I can remember why now!

My Lbs have been really good about it but don’t seem to have any ideas about the brakes. I’m guessing next time I go back they’ll ship them off for a warranty inspection too. Seeing as what’s happened with the forks I’m not that confident they’ll be returned sorted! Maybe I’m just being fussy but if I spend the amount I paid for the bike I’d expect everything to work as supposed to. I shouldn’t have to start swapping components etc. I definitely don’t want to return the bike as everything else on it is perfect and it’s brilliant to ride when it’s all working.
Reading online last night it seems that the turkey gobble noise is a common problem that people are having with avid elixirs, no one seems to have a definitive reason why or solution to the problem though.

Hi there peeps. I’ve had my t-129s for about two months now and it’s been back to the shop twice! I’ve got a horrible turkey gobble sound from front and rear brakes. Seems its common with avid elixir 5’s?! Went into the shop for first service and they said they couldn’t find anything obviously wrong but adjusted and out new pads in. One ride later the noise/vibration was back. Then the fork started going weird. Started randomly locking out and losing travel intermittently as in it would only compress by 1 inch then go solid. Sometimes it would be fine but if you turned the bars and compressed it it would be locked out. Lock out was fully off, flood hate fully open. Bike went back again, forks went off to sram for warranty work. Got them back and the report said dirt in the lowers and too much oil?! Bit strange seeing as that’s how they were when they came from the factory! They did an oil and seal change. The shop adjusted the brakes again and another set of new pads in the rear.
First ride out and the fork felt good again. Brakes did initially but by the end of the ride the turkey gobbles back!
Went out yesterday and now there’s a knocking coming from the forks too! Arrrgh! It’s weird, hold the front brake on and rock the bike back and forwards and you can feel a knocking from the front end. Headset is tight, disc is tight, axle is tight, caliper is tight. It feels like the fork stantions don’t seem to have a tight fit in the legs?!
I love the bike but it’s really starting to grate a bit now. My lbs is being really good about it but I’m losing patience with it all. Anyone else having problems?
    Should I contact whyte directly?

I’m based in the lakes too. Nn’s are great for the type of terrain we have here in the south lakes. Super grippy. Regularly hear them twanging and pinging rocks as I’m climbing. Went out today and I’m starting to settle into the bike. Awesome is all I can say. So much fun on the downs and climbs great. The nn’s will only improve it. They did on mine.

    Hi Captain,

I’m running a 2.25 nobby nic Eco on the standard rims on the rear and a 2.35 hans dampf on the front. Minimum of about 5mm clearance on the rear. Seems fine to me. Great grip too. Got both set up tubeless too. The hd is awesome on the front. The nn on the rear is massively better than the stock ikon, rarely spitting traction. I had nn on my old 26’er so it’s something I know and like.

So after my first couple of rides, I ditched the stock tyres as they were pretty much useless up here in the lakes!
I went and splashed out on a 2.35 hans dampf on the front and a 2.25 nobby nic on the rear. Both seated tubeless after a bit of a faff. Had to inflate with a tube first and pop one bead off, take inner tube out and pop in the tubeless valve. Then plenty of soapy water and a bit of effort with a track pump and they went up. Then deflated, removed valve cores and squirted in sealant. Front seems to be losing air slowly (I’ll redo it at some point, tried some new sealant in the front, stans in the back) back is find though. Plenty of room for the hd up front and the nn seems ok on the rear too. Looking forward to getting a proper ride on them tomorrow! The hd is draggy on Tarmac but feels grippy as hell! Trail star hd pace star nn. Definitely thinking a shorter stem is on the cards. 50mm I’m thinking.
Swapped the grips out too for some odi han solo’s. def recommend them. Green’s not that good a match but awesome grip and comfort.

I like the look of the mallet 2’s with the flat style pedals. Be nice to ride sections unclipped. Just unsure about spring tension and release angle etc. I really like shimano system but not lack of a caged pedal. Might try some crank bros that a mates got to see if I get on with the retention system etc. bit wary of reliability tho!

How do you find them after unclipping? As in, can you clear sections unclipped after dabbing?

    rollsroyce

Not changed it yet. I had nobby nics on my old bike in 26’s and I rated them highly. Going to get one of them and see what clearance is like with it on the front and put the ardent on the back (front at the mo) then probably get a hans dampf for the front and put the n n on the rear. ( clearance is tighter on the back).

Tried seating the ardent tubeless but had no joy so I’ll prob wait till I get tubeless ready tyres.
Tried track pump and co2 to no avail.

Regarding de-mincing, I did my first proper ride on it on Saturday on a usual route and got an achievement on every segment on strava inc 5 personal bests. Tis a monster truck.
