If, as Mark suggests in his post on the subject that RB was banned for persistent evasion of the swear filter, I have absolutely no sympathy.

As has been said, minors do read this forum. My son is 12 and avidly reads the “proper” bit of this forum – you know the one about bikes! But occasionally, he strays into here and reads some of the more interesting threads, some of which have been great at helping flush out issues that concern him but which he struggled to articulate. I don’t mind him encountering bigotry and racism as it will equip him to deal with it when he face it in real life.

Re the OP – he’s mad as a bag of frogs and living proof that detachment from a relatively normal life, where people dare to tell you that you are talking rubbish, has a detrimental effect on your sanity.

Think the bases have been covered – go Ltd, but remember as a Director you have legal responsibilities and liabilities – a good accountant will cover them off for you.
See if you can tap into some funding, depending where you are based there may be some start up support (pay accountancy/legal fees, bit of help with planning etc – but don’t get sucked into the grant trap, it will eat your life)
If you can run cash positive rather than on loans and overdrafts it will be better, especially as interest rates are only going to go back up.
You have one great advantage over youthful entrepreneurs and that is experience.

The only way is to be absolutely straight with them.
We have the same problem commonly known as – “project creep”
Sit down with them, take your original quote and explain that either they fulfil their half of the agreement or if they cannot do so you can undertake the work to help them but there will be an associated cost.
We use time sheets and it has helped a lot – we also log all parts of a project, because as you are finding – when you are away from site they have no idea what is required behind the scenes.

Feel a little foolish now though, as I started with the traditional Singletrack? Followed by the usual flood of innuendo and stupidity, but he retained his dignity in the face of it all. Guess he is the better person!

We have a couple of feral kids in the village.
One is a classmate of my eldest – 12 yrs old.
He’s a polite and bright kid and over winter he became a semi permanent feature.
Regular for evening meals and breakfast at weekends.
Parents split, mum still very young in age and attitude.
New boyfriend more interesting than the kid so hoofed out a dawn and returns sometime after sundown.
We have taken him all over with us on day trips etc.
All this has been with his mums agreement.

However, summer comes and I will not let my 2 go feral round the place.
So, the young lad starts to hang around with a couple of ne’er do wells.
The visits start to fall off and he has been totally absent since our family holiday.
Spotted him throwing stones at cars on the main road with the other two little scroates.
He waved to me with a big smile and a cheery hello.

Makes me furious and depressed knowing exactly how he is going to end up.
I cannot think of a solution to bad parenting, it has plagued me for months.
A friend offered me some sage advice – “if you constantly think you are not doing it right, you may stand a chance of making it work. If you believe you are a perfect parent you may be in for a shock”

Congratulations – life changing experience – poverty, no sleep, a few years of smelling of sick or nappy sacks but the best thing you’ll ever do – it just gets better and better.
