@GrahamS – they run 24/7, I checked by staying up very late in the pub and walking past the church at all hours of the night.

They do, however, provide a good good reference point as to just how big a bollocking I was in for when I got home.

Congratulations to the breeders on STW.

The creepy old sod who purports to be a vicar in our village explained that we have chimes on the quarter hour to let the workers in the fields and factories know the time in between the hourly strikes. It’s almost as if the Casio digital watch had never been invented.

Another attack by a Rottweiler on a two year old tonight.

That’s the same part of Rotherham where a cyclist was attacked with table legs last week!!!!

Guess I’ll be giving my eldest a lift to college until he can get a car.
MrsCat started life as an A&E nurse and I had bikes so she’s seen quite a few offs of varying severity so our 16yr old is unlikely to get one despite both our protestations.
Good luck and let us know how he gets on, I’d hate to be on a 35mph restricted bike with traffic and road conditions today.

@allthegear – what about Audi or would that disadvantage too great a proportion of STWers?

I like the idea of a concerted campaign, if anyone does decide to kick it off then use social media to get the message out and be relentless. The good pr departments will be tracking their #tags and watching for negative comments. We used this on BT when they dicked us about last year, it was surprising how quickly they acted in order to pacify us.

In Liverpool they measure volume in lorras. It’s a Saxon measurement originally I think.

I thought the Scouse unit of weight was the alloy wheel?

I did, but got told by some old boy that he couldn’t hear it after me ringing it for mearly 3 mins from about a yard behind him.

I have now fitted the nice yellow accessory to my SS, worked a treat on Sunday around the reservoirs, also raised a smile with most people too 😀 :

(ignore the rest of the stuff on the bike – first bikepacking adventure)

We walked away from a house purchase for this very reason, we were ‘told’ by a neighbour during one of our visits to view the house that ‘everyone shared the access and parking and had done for years so it’s an accepted rule. The deeds and documents showed otherwise. His demeanour put us off as years of neighbourhood disputes was not in our plans.
Good luck – as has been said above, firm, fair and timely stating of the facts may stop it becoming a TV documentary.

Coming to MTB from climbing & mountaineering i was amazed how few people i met carried emergency kit of even the most basic kind. But after meeting so many who don’t even carry tools/spares i am far less so today.

A DUI driver in Wisconsin has just received 90 days for killing a cyclist, seems that the US motorist dislike cyclists even more than the Young Women’s Terracotta Army.

Be grateful to the porn industry as without it you may not have the function rich internet that you do today.

To be fair, I think we owe them thanks for a bit more than that

Away with you and shave your palms. 😀

Wanting to make some quip about “blind eyes” but feel it would not be conducive to the debate.

It’s a simple case of supply and demand, there is a market and people will pay. Therefore, someone will want to satisfy that demand and therefore ’employ’ people to be part of the production process and someone will make a profit.

Be grateful to the porn industry as without it you may not have the function rich internet that you do today. Many of the things we use every day have their development roots in people getting their digital jollies online.

Eldest 16 declared a sleepover last week 6 large 16 year old lads present quite a tripping hazard when they are sprawled all over a small cottage!

I wish you temporary deafness and the ability not to care about your precious things!

All this aggression and hatred, the foul language, threats of physical violence- you lot should be ashamed
    😀

A better punishment would be to make them ride a road bike, in full branded lycra, around their local town for a month.

edit: now going out to ride the hills offroad where all I will hear is the clicking of Hope hubs and the curses of redsocks.

MrsCat has just trained as a Health Visitor after 16 years as a midwife, when she let’s off steam re the state of monitoring/intervention etc it is sometimes hard to believe, it may sound a bit Daily Mail but animals seem to get better protection than children.

If they didn’t want the kid, why not let him go and live with his father?

Better than rags and tougher than kitchen roll. Perfect.

    Rolling your own eh? 😀

Cheap Chinese MTB lights – £28 for the 2 year old ones, less for the newer ones – bought so many I could light up Sheffield at night and still not event close to the price of the ones in the mags.

Parents killing their own kids is a different level of evil.

Agreed, but he was not killed by his own parents, just one, the other was his step-father. It is a significant factor.

Mikewsmith is spot on re schools – we have been in our house for 18 years – infant school was brilliant, now ok, juniors was awful, now good, secondary has been up and down. Changes of head and teachers has a massive effect. Unless there are other factors re location, a house that’s already done leaves extra spendo for a new bike. 😀

Can only give personal opinion from my experience.
Had a Blackberry, Androind and iPhone.
I still have the latter two.

I use the iPhone almost exclusively – it was just so intuitive, picked it up and started using it (bloke see, instructions are just litter!). Everything is just so easy to set up and use.

The Android is ok, just needed me to acquire a bit more knowledge to get it working as I want.

Blackberry, binned it ages ago – way too limited in so many aspects and once I go the iPhone there was no competition.

Downsides of the iPhone, as has been said – battery life can be a bit short if used hard and they do not bounce, not even gently. Fortunately there are loads of replacement front and rear glass and they are cheap as chips on ebay. It’s a simple job to swap if you are not totally ham fisted.

If the US hadn’t been so paranoid when Castro overthrew Batista and treated them like any other country, it may have been an even nicer place.

Spent time in the industrial centres of China and it’s a bizarre place – some of the working conditions are straight out of a Dickens novel.
