Most of the bridle ways are in good order. The one from Win Hill to Hope Cross has been dug up quite a bit by horses galloping and there’s quite a lot of standing water. Otherwise it’s lovely. Rain forecast for today. It dry at he moment, then sunny for the rest of the week. Have fun.

Bit harsh, he and his organisation can be a proper pain in the bum and a bunch of hypocrits, but that’s just nasty.

More time to build the fire, distribute the pitchforks and torches then, whatever the verdict – we can burn the witch.

The guy with the Tattoo is banking on quite a lot of stability in international boundaries, bet the Middle East gets a bit smudged over the next 5 years.

Chris – same on Brough Lane – reeks of tar with nice curbs to bunnyhop just as you start to gain a bit of speed and then the odd gate just for a laugh.

And on that subject, why limestone chippings/dust on the track up Stanage to the pole, it’s a gritstone area.

Darrell you owe me a new laptop and now I have to explain to everyone in the office why I have tea dripping out of my nose. If the rest of the film is that funny, I’m in.

Going by what estate cars the farmers drive round here, it would be either a Scoob Forester or Outback.

Film it from the gantries and post out the penalties, it’s not as if we are short of cameras.

    Good to hear you survived.
Monsoon season has returned to the Peaks, and the glorious mud is back.
I shall be heading out after work to get a wet and filthydirty helmet with any luck. 😀

How often do you actually see traffic cops policing the roads, nevermind being able to spot, confirm and then pull over someone driving in the one lane without moving back to the left?

Yep, those unmarked patrol cars are getting harder to spot! 😀

@Spawnofyorkshire – spot on – it’s a medical vocational course. I’ll refrain from identifying the exact one until the degree cert is firmly in MrsCat’s hands.
The course includes lecture time, on job training and every other waking moment studying at home. It was like being a single parent for the past 12 month.

Peak Horsepower – go check out the website Mrs Toast has linked to, and download the pdfs, it makes very interesting reading.

Thanks Shackleton, will investigate this route – equally ambivalent re the NUS but will check out the Senate route – do you have any info or link I could look at?

OP – well that gets added to Chapel Gate and Brough Lane, both have had the same treatment.

Walked up Stanage on Sunday and there is a little bit of break up in the gravel surface but not much.

DCC & PDNPA could do well to look at linking more of the random stretches of bridleway with upgraded and little used footpaths (there are plenty) to draw riders away from the honeypots.

My dad ran a graphic design company in manchester for many years. He’d have given you an interview. He didn’t have much time for graduates, reckoned most of them were rubbish compared to those who worked their way up.

If only everyone were as enlightened as your dad fella. Unfortunately when I graduated, you could take it as read: no degree, no interview.

A wise man you dad, Samuri.

When we were a full service agency we employed a few graduates straight from Uni, and they were a proper pain in the bum. Clearly the degree they had chosen had made them infallible and so confident in their own ability I spent most of the first year of their time with us apologising to clients and fixing their work in between smoothing the ruffled feathers of good staffers who they had wound up to the point they were humming like that kid at the end of Torchwood.

Update: Sheffield Hallam University is a joke!

MrsCat has just been to see the Course Leader, who admitted that they had been badly taught in one module and this has clearly had an effect on their overall grades.

The tutor responsible has now ‘left’ the University but unfortunately, they will not remark the work, there is NO appeal process and no work will be re assessed and that is final.

The module that was scored poorly was made up of 40% submitted papers and 60% for a presentation of practical work. The presentation cannot be moderated because the Uni ‘forgot’ to video the presentation of the work. Not to worry though they have this down to check for all future courses!

The students can, however, make a further presentation to the course board and they will take on board all of the issues that the students have raised and amend the course for next year!

If we had funded this ourselves I would be even more annoyed than I am now, but it seems that, in the face of the Uni staff and administration, we can do absolutely nothing to seek any redress. MrsCat has written detailed and comprehensive feedback to her trust who send a lot of students to the Uni so they need to know what they are getting for their money.

The module grades are now available online, but not confirmed final grades, and it looks as though MrsCat’s colleague has missed a 1st by 5% and she is devastated. If we have calculated correctly MrsCat may just scrape a 1st.

I am immensely proud of her.

No, being a qualified Geomorphologist has not really helped me in my job in pr!
However, I supported the brewing and birth control industries to a significant level so I could claim to have been redistributing taxes. 😀

I was more impressed with Gordon’s post match interview than Woy’s, he just seemed more engaged than the England manager.

As it was the first footy match I’ve watched in aged and really enjoyed, I was disappointed to hear on the radio this morning that, due to fixture congestion, it’s unlikely to be anything other than a rare event.

Surely football could benefit from a home nations championship.

We’re here for one term only, unless the great unwashed, are really, really really that mind-numbingly stupid!

Unless there is no credible opposition, in which case there is the horrible possibility they may squeeze back in for another term. I don’t know which I fear more a morally bankrupt Labour Party or this shower of shits again.

Did my degree way back in 83-86, all state funded and topped up by me working part time. Undergrad intake was around 8% and graduate jobs were well paid.

We seem to have eroded this from both ends, more students, no grants, most graduate jobs paid the same as they were back then.

MrsCat has just done a degree course in 1 year, funded by her NHS Trust, 90% DIY at home and online. If I am honest I would estimate my degree could have been achieved in 2 years and only because it was fieldwork based in the middle summer.

Agree with Binners on the privatisation route, seems like we have been heading that way for a longtime. Education for those ‘who have’ rather than those ‘who can’. I worry for my boys.

We didn’t have a traditional reception, everyone came back to the hotel for dinner and then mingled, we just had music at the wedding and it was the South Yorks Normandy Vets Male Voice Choir in MrsCat’s Grandad who sang a range of classical MVQ songs – bloody moving when in full flow and very personal to us.

Hmmmm, mine is a parts bin hybrid and has been since 1990, I have swapped the frame 5 times and probably have no original bits left – perhaps it really is the triggers Broom of the MTB world – it’s always been my only bike so the frame swaps are still changes to ‘my bike’.

For a non football fan that was pretty good to watch, England marginally better but Scotland had some good play. Really good to see a lack of drama on the pitch, just the right amount of commitment without the silliness. If England are supposed to be so much better it didn’t really show tonight.

Commentary on ITV (esp in the studio) was very partisan, worse than Inverdale in the rugby.
