Started off very scarred and a little hesitant that I’d’d be a terrible dad.

If you think you’re doing it all right, you’re probably crap. If you are constantly wondering about it, you’re probably doing ok! 😀

EDIT: Guessing you meant scared, usually the mother who starts of scarred!!

Strava time for Potatoe Alley is 1:45

I can do that if chuck my Garmin off the top – hang on, didn’t I find one halfway down on the Pootle? Someone needs an extra Weetabix!! 😀

14 & 16 years in and the parental desire to kill anyone who hurts them still runs strong. They have been a source of pure joy over that time with thankfully few real issues. To all you dads of little ones, spend as much time with them as you possibly can, at some point you will cease to be the coolest person on the planet and that’s a toughie. Your bike will still be there she they are older and can ride with you from a bike seat to a Pootle, but don’t miss the good bits when they are young.
    Enjoy!

So I’ve been told I’m off the bike for 5 – 6 weeks. Oh joy! When this news was delivered to Mrs Binners, she let out the howl of despair of a condemned woman.

Time may be well invested in researching good divorce lawyers.

Years ago I would have said the Beast. The satisfaction of getting down with no dabs on a fully rigid bike with canti brakes and toe clips cannot be underestimated.

Is that no dabs totally, or are we applying Podge’s Peak Park Dabbing Rules V23 revision 2?

It’ll all be much better when DCC have smoothed them out with some nice tarmac shavings – then it’ll be properly quick. 😀

@AW those the bikes your mum had, the ones you were telling me about on the Pootle – they look amazing, especially the Heath Robinson sidecar!

Must be just our local Yodel driver who is good then!
Rather than leave a card or put n a safe place, he recognised the liveried vehicles at home and at the office so he brought the parcel to work. Top bloke and really friendly and helpful.

I’m suprised there has been no mention of her legs, or did nobody notice them.

    There were other distractions!!

EDIT: I had to watch it again check the legs, thanks Rich, the ound was on this time too 😯

Just had a blast of hail and a flurry of snow in Hope.
Wind is getting really scary – Peak First Aid are still outside their office running practice sessions, could be useful later!!

Power flickering like crazy, radio been on and off, sent everyone home and may bail out myself in a bit.

Getting worse in the Hope Valley, our office on teh first floor of the barn on the hump between Hope and Bradwell so the valley acts like a funnel.

Currently watching the photographer’s chocolate Lab getting blown across the car park, hilarious!

Holy **** – Kayak23 that had me howling with laughter, Chapeau to the editor of that little beauty.

Trying to divert questions from my 2 lads as to why tears of laughter are rolling down my cheeks.

Boris = Politician with ambition = Morally bereft tosser.

If, just for a moment, the political sides would stop lobbing historical rocks at one another, in a blame game that no one will ever win, they could look at where we are at the moment and seek to develop a future which does not entail sacrificing one or more generations of the country’s inhabitants or destroying it’s brilliantly inventive and entrepreneurial spirit.

Sadly, I cannot ever see this happening because the vacuous idiots who are immersed in their own myopic ideologies will never develop a social conscience that will enable them to look beyond their own political ambitions.

    Politicians, burn them all.

Just walked a couple of miles into the office to recover the car and had to clear fallen branches from the lanes. Time to follow GeoffJ’s lead.

Blowing a hoolie around the house, the fire and burner have never got going so quickly!

Heading for Cressbrook over the tops later, do I ride or drive, hmmmmmm?

My dad made a bloody good example of how to live a good life without money.
    A very good fighter pilot.
    An all round sportsman.
My bedroom furniture from old doors.
Me a wooden garage and farm from scraps of wood.
Me study hard so I could have a better standard of living than him.
The best grandpa in the world.
    Me immensely proud of him.
Still love you Biggles even at 90,

Only got a SS Rigid at the moment, the full suss SS was canibalised to build it onto an old Corratec Ally frame and yes you could ride over a 2p and tell if it was heads or tails.

Been riding since about 89 and always had rigid bikes, brief dalliance with full suss Giant Yukon (now the SS Susser above) but the faff of setting everything up and the incessant fiddling was a PITA so went back to rigid.

Just makes riding the same routes a bit more interesting but a lot, lot slower.

Not a surprise to me – as a 10 year old, and with a mate, we were turfed out of the church doorway into thunder and lightening because “This is not the place you should be sheltering.” – Rev Grilles, St Cuthbert’s Church, Rotherham – lovely man, he really got it too!!

I’m single and desperate, I have no social skills, I have a waggon load of baggage and hang ups after a messy life prior to suddenly finding myself single and living in a rented bedsit at that unfortunate age where I am starting to look my age and parts of my body are beginning to fail. Fancy going on somewhere after?

Yet at the funeral of a friend earlier this year, of course it was a sad occasion and I felt genuine sadness but not a hint that I was likely to cry.

Yeah I understand that, I’ve ever been one to cry at funerals as they had all been for people who had all lived pretty good and long lives. However, one of my best friends wife died a couple of years ago in her early forties after putting up one hell of a fight against breast cancer. I was fine until my mates eulogy which was heart rending, and then when their eldest daughter stood up and delivered a flawless reading I was in bits.
