@thepodge – if it’s the one I think it is, the intention, as I understand it, is to gather some economic impact data – ie, what are mountain bikers worth to the Peak District. At the very least it’s a start.

Execution of parts of the plan are already underway, it would seem that consultation can be done pre, during or post the event.

@jimbobrighton – you don’t have to go home if you don’t want to, it’s not the 1940s.
Tell the midwife that you want to stay, it won;t be exciting but you’ll be there for Mrs Jimbobrighton.

Married to a halfwife, she had me doing sweeps for our first one, forget watching your favourite pub burn down, being instructed in medical procedures that men should never know about changes the nookie landscape beyond belief!!

Apart from the rain washing everything loose down the hill, and the Peak being a mud bath, nothing at home.
The road into the office has been submerged for months but it’s remained passable.
Now on a train heading to that London, may pop down to the Thames for a peek.

My youngest son has just come back from a school trip to see Wannasee, Auschwitz and Berkenau – the sheer scale and matter of fact nature of it all has had a profound effect. He’s only 15 but cannot comprehend how industrial murder could be carried out in secret as there were far too many people involved in it’s organisation and implementation.

Were Findus involved in any way?

    Where would the water go?

Well, obviously, down the plug hole, like usual! Where does it go in *your* house? Or do you siphon it out?

    Duh!

Not if you smash it whilst it’s full, Der! 🙄

Quick bump in advance of the weekend.

The weather is looking grim so what could be better than spending a cold, wet, Saturday watching adventure films in the warmth?

It’s organised by volunteers and all funds go to Hope Valley College.

There’s also food and beer too! 😀

Did you think that through before typing?
    *innocent face*
Yeah, cos it’s stupid. Sound carries through water even faster than air. Duh.

I was more thinking of the effect achieved when a bath full of water, and still in the bathroom of a house, is smashed with a hammer. Where would the water go? 😀

Filling it with water before you start would help muffle any noise?

Tried to smash ours and after several goes, and partial deafness, I decided to carry it downstairs and then gave it to a local farmer to use as a trough.

I used to drink a lot, but stopped when the kids were born – babies and alcohol are not a good combo for many reasons.

And yes, it is depressing how many people seem to rely on it to have fun. There seems to have been a step change since I was younger. We had a drink whilst doing something else which may have led to us getting a bit drunk (usually surrounding some sporting event – hockey & climbing back in the day). It seem that getting ‘hammered’ is the reason for drinking now.

So far my 15 & 16 year old lads have absolutely no interest in alcohol at all. Eldest went to a party with 30 from his 6th form last night – pizza and coke only and he had a great night.

Limit my intake to a couple of glasses of wine or a couple of nice beers, once or twice a week – I can’t cope with the after effects any more.

Staying in the room with cable TV and a crate of beer is still the best option.

Stayed in these at Silverstone – needed heating and that was in October, otherwise a neat idea – I was on my own but there were 3 beds. You really would need to be very good friends with the other two and have impeccable bathroom habits!!

Top tip – if you hear banjos, paddle faster.

Is this a subtle admission, is this well heeled super sellotape sales rep really a facade, are you actually from Canklow? 😀

Roche Abbey is nice, ruins of an abbey – cross the M18 and head for Maltby, it should be signposted.
Rotherham Museum is ok, it’s in Clifton Park closer to town but only 10 mins drive away.
At a push Rother Valley Country Park is ok for a walk round the lake, a bit further South from Bramley.
If you are looking for a survivable pub experience, the Hind is ok – head away from the M18 towards the M1 and it’s on the LHS of a dual carriageway.
As Pook says Whiston is ok and the Golden Ball is ok.

If you go to Wentworth, the George & Dragon is worth a visit – Timothy Taylors and the Old Peculiar in the Rockingham is still good, was in there yesterday.

    You’ll never get out alive!!!
Avoid the town centre day or night, all the good old pubs are long gone.
Which circle of hell are you staying in, there are some bad bits and some really bad bits. All the riff raff gravitate to Wickersley 😉 😀

You have a Brother called Mark, he lives in the Huddersfield area.

    New keyboard please!! 😀

Moved to Cornwall with the future MrsCat then got a call from my Dad to say Mum had been rushed into hospital (in Rotherham) with multiple bleeds into her brain and suspected sub-arachoid haemorrhage and unlikely to live.

20 years later and the dotty old bat is still with us.

Yup, but may be worth getting your swimmers checked out as time is not in your favour. Takes all different lengths of time to conceive, we were a bit too fertile and lost all that fun practice time but friends took 7 years.
