I have a 2.4 rubberqueen in ust and it goes onto my stans flow rims easy as. Maybe try wiping the bead with washing up liquid as that’ll stop any friction between the tyre and rim

Mini dh from those options. Arguably a 5-6″ bike is best suited to the majority of the tracks there

You can push FOD and still get 10 runs in without being too much of a machine and still have best part of £30 in your pocket

They will probably say dual ply on the side walls if they are.
They will be much harder when you squeeze them by hand when deflated too, hold shape better

Ok bud first things first, it’s one word, Cwmcarn.
You’ll have a blast on the dh track. It’s not a hard track by any means. It’s not technical, steep or littered with crazy gap jumps and drops but it will leave you smiling after every run.
The track is fast by nature so expect to either wear brake pads out or go fast. There are a few jumps at the top of each run and then the whole bottom section is full of jumps after the road drop. The middle has switchbacks, fast corners, rocky steps and a nice section in the woods if you take the black switch point.
The jumps at the bottom are all tabletops. Some are quite big lenght ways but all pretty easily clearable with speed. There is a bridge that you drop off of and onto the last big table. Be carefull on the day if its windy as i have seen people be blown off track and straight over the back of the following berm.

What to take. Obviously a full face, goggles, and knee pads.
The rest is up to you. A lot of people do wear armour and to be honest, if it’s your first time i probably would. The track is generally all made of rock so if you go down you will probably cut. Maybe something with elbow protction. Then just normal riding shorts/ jersey.
There is a cafe/ toilets on site and you will pass a couple of big supermarkets on the way if you do need to get food.
The closest bike shop is ‘ps cycles’. They are only 5 mins away, just ask in the visitor centre for directions if needed.

I think thats all i can offer bud.
    Have a cracker, i hope it’s a good day.
Oh, even if it is wet dont worry as personally i think it’s grippier.
    Cheers

There is a sticker on the flow rim that advises on what pressures for what width tyres.
I killed 3 schwalbe tyres when i first went tubeless, blowing off of the rim and damaging the bead. Get shot of the tyre i would advise

    CRC On form!
My parcel arrived today with the post. That’t less than 24hrs after ordering and still just standard delivery!
    Good effort!

It depends what time things are actually ordered, i believe the cut off for same day postage is about 1pm. I ordered a sombrio ‘bramble’ yesterday at 12.30ish and got a dispatched email from them just after 3pm, Great service.
I bet it shows up tomorrow as well.
Not long ago i would have agreed that there standards were slipping but in recent months i think all has gone back to their normal good service.
Their warranty department is excluded from that though for me but thats only because i was in need of a very quick turn around and they didn’t get back to me for two weeks and in that time i had sent it to fisher and got it sorted myself

The ‘nice sparkly black’ esselgruntfuttock Mentioned is Disco black. I have it, looks sweet! The polish will go a bit and it’ll lose its shine after a few rides in crappy conditions, unless you Heli-tape it

    Noshki is spot on.
You probably won’t find a 33mm flat bit but you will definitely find a 32mm one in most builders merchants as they are used for drilling a hole for a ‘Yale’ lock in doors.
32mm will probably do as i can’t imagine the 33mm is a dead tight fit as they usually allow a bit of tollerance

    ChunkyMTB Said it right.
It’s rubbish that trail centres are for people who can’t read a map and or are new to the sport.
I can read a map just fine and i have been riding for a fair few years now but i still enjoy trail centres. I use them maybe once a month and always enjoy it as it is a trail laid out for me that me and the other lads can really hammer around not having to worry about getting lost and just hooning around.
Trail centres aren’t rubbish but they are convenient which i guess to a few translates into rubbish.
Personally the more places that become available to ride the better IMO

i run a 36t front ring and 11-36 10spd cassette and that works everywhere for me. Chilterns, wales, scotland, alps you name it. It means you have to power up stuff rather than grind i find

I’m 6ft 6″ and ride a 2011 Orange five 20″ with no problems. I do quite like a smaller bike under me as for the descents and ‘looser’ moments are what i’m i it for.
I have had trek remedys before and they come up pretty huge in the 21.5 size. Specialized bikes generally come up pretty long in my opinion too and santacruz

I have found the shorts to come in slightly different between models of the same size.
I have one pair of 2011 sombrio lowline and one pair of 2011 sombrio charger shorts, both in medium which according to the size guide i found in the paligap directory should be a good fit for me with my waist of 33″. The lowline are perfect and a great short but the charger are a lot tighter around the waist, not too far from the point of not being able to wear them.
They are great shorts though and the jerseys are impressive too and different as well. I would recommend going for the bigger size if your borderline two sizes.
    Hope this helps

Idave. You are clearly a prize prick.
The lad asked if it was worth stopping there to ride one of the trails.
From his original post i gathered that he, like myself prior to saturday, had never ridden cannock before so unless his crystal ball works better than my rock, he probably won’t know of any of the hundreds (Yeah likely) of miles of sick trails that you know of. I also can’t imagine wanting to explore for new trails when i only had a short amount of time on the way to somewhere, i would like to be able to hammer around #some decent trails.
Also, there is a massive difference between rough trails and trails littered with breaking bumps before, in and after every berm, jumps, small descent.

Ftfy? What does that even mean? I guess you are the kind of full grown adult who uses LOL!!??- Penis.
Enjoy your shitty trails, can only be a few years more until it is just one big breaking bump

    roddi18

Rode cannock for the first time yesterday and would now definately avoid it until they do some serious trail maintenance. The place is riddled with breaking bumps. Nothing very fun there either other than one dh run that a lot of the dhers were sessioning that was just before you cross back over the train tracks. Head to wales

Geetee1979, Which renthal ring do you have? Also are you sram or shimano 10speed, dont know if that makes any difference but i am running shimano.
I think my e13 must be specific Dh only as it is definitely not compatable to 10 speed

I’m booked on for rounds 1,4,5. Would love to do 2 and 3 but can’t really afford to drive to the other end of the country 3 times for races.
I think having races spread more evenly down the country would have helped, it is a bit top heavy.
    Should be good though!

Love the furry grips! Euro thing???
Heard it from a rival companies rep i know.

    @Mildred
, That is a simailar build to what i would be aiming for apart from maybe elixirs and either a single or double up front,Shimano too, would shed some weight, the 760 bars are a must though

Cheers guys. I have been looking into the cubes and reading reviews and they do seem to be very highly rated. My main issue, call me stupid, is the price. I don’t really understand how a reasonably small company such as cube can knock out bikes with a higher spec component range for cheaper than bigger companies sell lesser spec’d rigs for. I get that to an extent you are paying for a name. I just wonder that maybe the money being saved is in the frame building? I have read people saying about problems with cubes frames and even though they have also stated that cube are good at replacing warranty frames, it doesn’t make it right. I have also heard that other bike companies are concerned by the quality of there frames.
Anyone else heard anything like this?

To be honest bud i hadn’t but will look into them. I am not certain about a five it just appeals to me as its pretty basic and i never got on with my last over complicated remedy 8. I really want a hardcore trail bike as i have a dh bike already and have learnt from having the scatch that there is no point having two spoons for one cup, so dh is covered and xc is too as i have a steel 456 that is ideal for round here. It’s just the trail centes and gnarly trail riding i am looking to cater for now and like the orange from what i have heard/ read. The proof will be in the riding though and i am in no rush so will try whatever i can in the mean time. Whatever i get i will deck out with elixir.
    What weight is your SE?
