    cheers everyone.
so has the change over of importers led to a hiccup in supply? or is demand outstripping supply?

any thoughts on them from those who have them in the flesh?

    cheers all,
whats the ideal width for a 29 er bar? the marys are quite small, i did try the fleegles on a 26, hated them, but on the 29 er, not bad… maybe the higher pitch?

also anyone use a layback seat post? i do on the 26 er, great stuff, but the 29 er shipped with an inline.

basically do i copy the set up of the 26er on the 29 er!

Saddlebag, yes but what ones are people using?

No over tightening, used a Park tools for it as well.
Rode autumn, winter and the supposed spring that was winter…

whats the cause of failure, does a ball bearing dissolve or is wear on the cups?

Had a pair of Sidi’s for years with velcro and ratchet combo. Had to replace the velco a few times. Lost a ratchet due to the grub screw and was easily replaced.

Have the above shoe with guess what ratchet. As good as the Sidis, though have the mesh top.

Noticed there are two holes for the grub screw, so that you adjust or in winter wear thicker socks etc and let it out a bit.

Thanks everyone for the replies so far.

I think the best advise from the above, broken helmet means possible spinal injury.

The hospital asked to keep the helmet as evidence for their training, it was snapped in half.

We are doing a whip round to get the best helmet we can for the guy when he gets back on the bike!

And obviously first aid asap, then move up the scale.

Another injury picked up by another rider at another time, was branch down ear and perforated ear drum….

Well new bolts and swap outs are on the way…. Hopefully on Friday.

If you use a shorter bolt, surely this could cause a failure as there will not be the strength provided by the full insertion.

Any ideas on the strongest bolt you could use, ie solid?

Ok, cheers. Will wait for new bolt.

Interesting to see how the swap outs flex when brake is pulled when spinning wheel, compared to my 26 er Scandal which has a traditional mount. No flex but you can almost see the forces go through the frame.

Also the ride between the two is so different, hard to explain, buts ones nimble and quick the other fast and sure footed. Enjoying both.

just reassembled, it all, looks like there may be some truth in the short female bolt. swapped it all round and that bolt is spinning abit freely.

anyhow new bolts coming soon, if it dont work out i will send the bike back!

Having seen a good friend come off onto their head at the weekend and the results of the helmet and 3 days in hospital and counting with a fractured vertebrae with another bit of broken bone floating around in it you would wear one.

Basically he got up and we got to hospital, no helmet and it would have been a hearse coming to pick him up.
This is what the doctors said.

The speed he came off at was about the same you get on a road bike/commute.

Make your choice before Darwinism does.

no, he landed on his head at 27 mph, so I am mindful of what can happen.

the issue is if the bolts are assembled and shipped with a known fault, ie the female bolts are too long to prevent adequate tightening then its very iffy.

the forces generated through braking and the chain etc will in time cause a failure if not assembled correctly

captain, what size washer did you use, I gotta go to Screwfix to get some thread lock.

Hmmm yeah like checking when they are being built up…..?

i really like On One and what they stand for but this is a bit iffy, especially if you were not clued up about it.

The whole mount could fall off and cause an accident.

I say this as a friend is still in hospital after 3 days with a fractured vertebrae, after stacking it on Sunday whilst were riding on its first big ride. This was more user error i must add.

    Cheers for the replies already!
Summers still here and its fast, but loose. What tyres are people using, very tempted by some Crossmarks, have a 26 pair and they are very very fast.

Any thoughts on longevity of the bolts, think I will be checking them quite often..

Should be, but some goodwill may be nice if not.
I suppose all these coatings can have defects. However I had a north face nalegene bladder that was great, only problem ever was when it spang a leak, hence camelpak.

    What a bugger though!

All of those tried and tested things.
However the surface is actually separating, in places crumbly others funky. Really weird, it must be the coating going wrong. I just don’t want to be ingesting the stuff.

i think the clearance on the frame will be fine, on the trek its like a gate! has a carbon fork that looks like the same.

i just need a bit more bounce; did a ride the other night; 15 mph average, 31 max on a flattish route on an old railway track.

if they are worth their salt, they will show you lines, advise how to get round stuff, wait for you, pick you up and encourage you.

its not easy, but worth everything and the best drug you will ever get.

Apart from the rip, they are great, got all three styles now. Worn the 3/4’s for about six years. Like all bike gear it gets worn torn etc, but this is a bit crap after just a few months.

i am a big fan of endura having worn it since it first came out; lest see how their warranty lives up, its the first time.
