    No, but took some video;

My bike wheel was really buckled and cracked at the weld joint after a slow speed tumble.

Cheers everyone. I have ordered some tape, but will get some straws. If they rattle, you aint going fast enough! Sideway traffic is probably our biggest risk.

On a positive note based on 20 years of commuting, I always get respect from drivers if I am lit up and keep my lights on non lighthouse settings. There seems to be a fashion for full on lights from bikes and cars that actually blind on coming traffic/ bikes. That not to mention the idiots with flashing front lights.

whatever you get, get some full length sealskinz water proof socks; excellent for wading in water as I found out last year.

well if its a bridleway, then it will be fine though the red socks brigade may question that! looks pretty slippy though

    Found this on chain reaction

The added bonus is that this brake is compatible with Shimano M525/M515 pads, which allows for multiple pad compounds to be used.

The brakes are good, but the spring seems to have bent back on its self and worn away, never has this on hydraulic before. The pad has been gouged away, but the rotor seems unmarked

Thye will do if the springs bust!

The canal route is good, though longer.

Rather than get off at WGC, go one stop further to Welwyn North and float above the Miram Valley on the viaduct 100 ft up and there is a pub within sight of platform number 2! Parents can pour you into the car after you have all eaten in the pub.

sorry to hear of this, I have had similar problems with PX and On One including a deformed post mount on a rockshox due to over tight bolts.both were sorted in the end, but I could have had a structual failure at the wrong time.

I like the whole idea of PX and On One, but quality control is something other companies do. In this day, it cannot be acceptable and could become a law issue. Once upon a time the biggest worry was paint falling off Cannondale frames….

Brakes, do you mean smelling pistakes? The founders of Google did it and look where they ended up…

Cheers for the replies everyone, I may post some examples up soon.

Cool, although I have used Maxxis for aa couple of years, Specialized have been very very good in the past.

A lot has to do with price; somehow the cost of living is not going down for some reason….

mmm, i was hoping for cartridge, any thoughts on the difference these days.
In my opinion cartridge run so much smoother and I have been impressed by how long they last.

my issue is price, I am somewhat limited!

    Cheers everyone, seems workable.

However my beady eye has caught Merlins deal on Shimanos, with free rotors and are tubeless ready for £160 ISH!
Any thoughts on Shimano wheels generally?

I ride quite often in Hard Yakka shirts form New Zealand, they even do High Viz ones, they have a sun factor rating too. Tough as they come and lots of pockets.

So, will I die if I strip it back and not ball burnish the alloy?
Its painted in black hammerite, so I may just give it another coat; its pretty agricultural looking anyhow

    rocky-mountain

The Alloy frame is for a rat/pub bike and not worth the expense. The steel is more of a dream, so may not happen.

With the steel, how are people sealing/painting it with clear coat or a varnish?

Also how did On One do their Raw frames on the Scandal?

Cheers for the replies so far!

well, they look snazzy and tough for one!

maybe more surface area means more friction? I have a 160 already on the back and cheers by the way.

it may be how much force a 180 mm can exert on a frame.

Did he drop his phone at some point? A well aimed spd would have shut him up.

The issue though for the cyclist, is that when you are nearly squashed and killed, then verbally abused by someone who did it all sorts of adrelanine go through you. Its quite hard to be coherent and its takes alot to keep yourself focussed and your arms and legs away from that person.

I wonder who the guy is and what he does, quite seriously. It would be interesting to see his explanation.

Two things; has the drivers name being published? its not Bill Bailey is it?

Also it would make a great vine/tshirt/edited highlights/gif.

its a shame Hope do not do a ramped ring, life would be good after that!

I am plumping for a 36 t ring, any thoughts on those? Make to be decided, though Shimano, despite being the Mondeo of bits, seems toughest.

Had some Endura overshoes which lasted three rides before rubbing and the bottom sticthing going

Have got Sealskinz knee high socks now, fantastic stuff. Ride through puddles etc to test and they erm work! Go for a bigger isze as well.

Use wool socks under for warmth.

My commute is 25 miles round trip once a week, the other four 6 miles round, plus ride on Sunday.

Good thing is you pull the socks off and have your normal socks ready to go.
