my point is that supposedley good bike shops are failing in service to quite an alarming degree

i had a hope front disc installed by a lbs, i could not order a left hand pull one from hope myself. it had to be through a lbs in wgc.

rode the bike home, brake rub; caliper was not tightened at all, finger tight. said bike had a £125 front wheel, £200 pace rigids, lu cky it did not foul up.

said wgc lbs also installed pace forks with a hope headset. i had ordered the forks from pace as factory seconds(cosmetic marks to crown). all delivered in box mint. forks came back with peg for stopping wheel drop out broken off and a rushed payment……..

same lbs has lost its dealership for special…… bikes so i hear.

and you wonder why the internet bike shops are doing so well……………

well, its old age and a bit of everything!

i like the mary's they were good, but crap for mounting lights, ending up with a cross eyed double lamp scenario! flats made them go straight, bring on spring and no lights.

i like the mungo's hoping for a shopper type ride on a mountain bike!

on a simalar note, we got my mum a specialised hardrock, put a wicker basket on the front, panniers on the back. still riding at 71! and does the santiago trail every year in spain…………..

    bedford rascal or such like.

twin doors means its like a huey helicoptor, well kind of …. a big back door means a picnic in the boot if need be

my wife had one and we had lots of fun in it, the seats go flat and you can lie down in the back as well………. or so she told me.

    and bikes go in whole.

condor cycles in grays in road, london.

if he is still building wheels; monty is the best wheelbuilder ever.

its top end prices, but his wheels and i have had three have never needed to be nipped in, unbuckled etc. i have done thousands of miles of miles on them, the rims wore out before anything else.

    worth the travel and price.

    wow, whats it ride like?

and why did you make it?

the only things that match on my bike are the pedals and tyres!

well, anywhere between 6.30 am and 7 pm, depends on the day and the madness at work

i have been doing this for years, but can never remember the times! whilst its dark i had better get through the woods for a last blast in the dark!

its always good to take them off the bike

i always ride at least a drain covers width from the kerb, have a cateye flashing light dangling from my rucksack, with another light. always look round when you are approached by a car and make eye contact if possible. and push out a bit to block them if need be. they have to slow down as they could do a head on with whatevers coming on the other side. then drift back to the kerb a bit if its a big one coming by.

    good luck.

'although rear drop outs were maligned slightlyso a bit of a pain. '

whats the deal with the build quality?

    many thanks,
i do like the anodised surface on the scandal. i am rather heavier than when i had the rocky 15 years ago also.

i am riding on pace carbon forks, so it will add up to a very light, strong build.

any thoughts on the geometry, thats what will clinch it.

on one are doing what we all want, cheapish, interchangable, responsive to UK conditions, fun, bikes for the rest of us, whats the point of a cannondale in the mud, rain, snow, sleet…….and dark.

endura; having had three pairs; including the orginal mt500's with a zip front. all very good and comfortable. however am using a pair of aldi shorts that are just as good. also have the same printing inside, pads, etc etc. i say they are all made in the same factory.

i have had two jackets as well, all good. however try aldi first as a test bed, then go for endura if you have the cash

i like endura, have had stuff since the mid 1990's. worn it here and in nz, till its fallen off. the mt500's were awesome, bib and zip affair.

however their recent shorts with with lycra shorts inside are crap. i know wear aldi shorts and have stiched up the outer ones.

aldis stuff seems to be made in the same factort; zips, printed labels etc are the same, different price……… the joys of china, thursdays and sunday deals

    whats trailing?
i was thinking, just wack em on ride, wack it again etc, in clean conditions( a bit hard at the moment)

should i get anew rotor, or is it not worth it?

    thanks,
will ride to my colleagues, leave it in the garden in the rain, car share to work and back and then ride home. will this equate to pouring water in?

probably will do at easter then, riding to work and a looming ofsted will be my excuse.

will do some hard stops, but will be careful due to rigid forks……..

hopefully i will upgrade to an inbred frame, so i can finally hook up a disc brake on the back to the hope hub.

the bike is like triggers broom, its entering its third decade of service.

    cheers

yep, quick ride round the school playground opposite.

    very easy to do,

will the pads adjust to the rotor? facing each other off so to speak?

any ideas of longevity of the oil, when to change etc?
