Normally the quieter episodes stink of filler, but I thought it was a cracker. Couple of great actors knocking it out the park. Eastman was the most interesting character we’ve seen in ages.

I went from MG1s to Nukeproof Electrons. Very impressed and will be my go-to pedal.

Look, this is STW. We’re supposed to be guiding the OP away from what they want.

Disaster for businesses as a very large number of people would do their shopping outside

This old chestnut, which also gets trotted out whenever the sacred parking spots are under threat? Shame it’s nonsense.

The frame paint is not invisible. It’s grey. White spirit attacks it so don’t think lacquer would work.

Could someone please spray obscenities on their dog with the ‘Horse and pets’ version and post pics? Please?

Volvo are just rebranding this stuff[/url]. ‘Invisible Bright’ is the so-called life paint, water based paint for textiles only. ‘Light Metallic’ is oil based and has been used on the bikes/helmets.

ps. Wouldn’t bother myself. I use reflectives and properly bright lights already. If someone hits me despite that then I doubt whether visibility is the issue.

From experience, nothing. Just knuckle down, do your research, and console yourself with thoughts of Christmas by firelight.

And in your weaker moments counter any future spending requests with ‘Well we could have done but spent £xk on that stove’.

Having taken lessons quite recently I believe it’s now ‘mirror, signal, mirror, manoeuvre’. Might have helped avoid the OP’s collision.

Oh god I love mince pies. Nearly picked some up yesterday then realised a box of 6 is 1500 calories. I’m weak and would eat them all in one sitting, so they stayed on the shelf. For now.

Yeah what crashtestmonkey said. 2015 Supersix Evo Ultegra widely available at that pricepoint.

695s are lovely but white spokes give me nightmares.

Of those three I’d take the Supersix.

    – The Hollowgram SI crankset is a belter, much lighter and stiffer than Ultegra and won’t look silly with any aftermarket rings you might put on it. There’s a reason they’re nearly triple the cost of Ultegra off the shelf.

    – The wheelset, on paper at least looks superior. 1550g vs 1650 on the Genesis and 1900(!) on the Giant. Happy to be corrected on this. I haven’t ridden the FSAs.

Granted it’s marginally the least attractive (looks better in the flesh) of the three, and has a SRAM group which isn’t my personal preference but you get used to these things.

I’d rather see advancements in infrastructure rather than the phones. Blanket, reliable 4G for example. Seamless global roaming, that sort of thing.

Yeah shame about the brace. I would have thought a steel fork like that would be plenty stiff enough. Still, could paint it matt black or something.

Mattsccm, in the spirit of this thread I would happily devote say an hour a week to help you with your English comprehension, reasoning skills, and perhaps a primer on human rights.

Without wanting to sound mean, how will this be of any benefit? I know its well intentioned but do these detainees and refugees need bikes?

It’s free transport, or toys for the kids, as well as a point of contact with the community. One here in Glasgow operates in conjunction with a drop-in centre.

To get back on topic, another thought for the OP. Locally we have a couple of community bike workshops who take in donated bikes, parts etc, spruce them up and give them to detainees or refugees. Some also welcome volunteers if you’re handy with a spanner.

What is this attitude that unless we can make everything perfect in one fell swoop then do nothing? An excuse to do nothing.

Just help to make one person’s life a little more tolerable. If not a refugee, then yes a homeless person, or someone who is struggling day to day.

We DO have the resources to help them. Look at the bikes we ride, the cars we drive, the phones we ‘must have’.

“Charity begins at home, but should not end there.”

Interesting how often people chop the second part off.

There will be some charities or other organisations in your local area who will be helping people already here. You can help them either financially or by volunteering.

Check http://www.refugee-action.org.uk/ for stuff near you.

Up here in Glasgow we have things like http://sdv.org.uk/ where you can donate or volunteer to personally help detainees.

Serious question. I don’t have kids, but reading some of the comments here, how did people ever manage? Is it just that people talk about the challenges more, or are more frank about it? I’m one of three kids and don’t remember my folks – who both worked – ever being particularly tired or stressed. Maybe they hid it.

Or is it materially harder now? Pressure to buy the right things, childcare costs, spend time with kids instead of working etc.
