What year is the bike? Maybe it has a casette type gearbox which is easy to change.

I friend of mine is currently recovering from multiple fractures to his collar bone after the forks on his Ebay Chineese special carbon road bike broke on him!

I applied for a job two months ago and just last week they rang me back and asked me to go in for an interview! Unfortunatly (for them) I'm of to Afghanistan in November so they can stick their interview!

I have an interest only mortgage, its the only possible way i could afford to own a house.
My repayment vehicle is the value of my dads house which i will inherit half of when he dies. That'll be more than enough to pay off my loan.

Standover height is more important though for a mountain bike, not least beacsue it means that you'll be more confident that you can get off the bike in a hurry if you need to.
Smaller frames are more rigid as well.
Generally if you are undecided between two frame sizes its always better to go with the smaller one.

Is the next one up a 21 inch? Thats way too big in my opinion, i had hardly any standover clearance on mine.

I'm 6'3" and i ride a 19inch S Works M4 hardtail. Fits me like a glove. I used to have a 21 inch Rockhopper and it was miles too big.

Oh and make sure you get the cam belt changed every 36,000 miles or three years (if its a petrol).

I had a feeling that you loose the pro pedal if you get it PUSHED.

Pro pedal is the best feature in my opinion though, mine stays on all the time.

Why would they want an Air France Concorde flying at the London Olympics?

Car makes often fit the same engine to different models then detune it for the cheaper ones. The mini cooper and cooper s are a prime example.

Total guess but is it some kind of crank extractor adapter? Some idea of scale might help as well.

You will do various tests as part of the joining process and based on your scores they will tell you which jobs you can do.

If they don't want people to look then they shouldn't stick them out in front like that.

You can easily wear the pads down in one ride ditto the cable rub can appear very quickly, it certainly did on my Stumpy.

TomToms are the best out there in my opinion. Clean the screen and breath on the sucker before you stick it on as well.

The hourly rate they are paying works out at around £29k a year (which is about the same as i was on with my previous company)- the company has been in business for 174 years believe it or not and they currently have over 100 staff!!

I think i'm going to decline their offer to be honest.

Cheers Chris, the PI issue is something that i thought about as well. I'm beginning to think that if i have to get my own PI plus paying for accountants etc plus all the other disadvantages its not going to be worth it based on what they are planning to pay me (£16.50 an hour).

One other thing that I've just thought of – presumably being self employed would affect my credit rating? If i was wanting to re-mortgage in the near future would i have problems?

Cheers guys, all helpful stuff, especially from DWH.

I'm an Architectural Technologist, so one step down from an Architect really.

Work in my trade is very limited right now so i feel very lucky to have found this job so quickly, i just don't want to jump into somehting that might have implications for me a bit further down the line.

Yes you are indeed right about the advice thing, its just that we appear to have such a massive cross section of people on here all with different experience and skills that I often find I can get the answer on here!

This situation only cropped up this morning when they rang up and offered me the job and they need an answer by the weekend which doesn't leave me much time.

The odd thing is they have already given me an hourly rate and told me i can have 25 days holiday a year which doesn't sound much like self employment to me.

Yes i did find IR35 and then my eyes kind of glazed over!

I suspect the arangement will be long term, maybe a couple of years or more.

I really need to get a handle on this in the next day or so as i have to tell them if i want the job or not!

Cheers Mk1fan, thats exactly the situation. I do have my own computer with Autocad on it so i could make an effort to find other work as well i guess. They have said that they will help me sort everything out as well.

Diesels only need three things to run, fuel, compression and heat. Sounds like glow plugs to me.

If your car was a Focus TDCI for example as soon as you open the drivers door the fuel pump starts running which can be enough to cost you loads to sort out.
