Can’t directly answer your question but in all the houses we are currently building we make provision for a future lift, so power supply there and floor joists already trimmed out etc.

Even iff the screw driver method fails you just chop the remainder of the filer to bits and eventually it’ll come off. Makes a bit of a mess mind…

With a drop in profits of that much I’d say that something has already gone badly wrong!

I don’t think a Dremel would be suitable for the uses you are proposing, drilling a 6mm hole and grinding rivets off is popper power tool territory. Biggest drill they can take is 3.2mm

Is it listed? That might restrict what you’ll be able to do.

Just to be Mr gloom and misery for a moment, I’d never leave my dishwasher running while I’m not in the house (or heaven forbid) upstairs and asleep. If that’s how you are using it then please think again.

Your original fault it likely with the bundle of wires running from the car into the tailgate which flex each time its opened and eventually break.

My simplistic notion was that the PV could run the immersion heater somehow (I’m assuming its got one)?

Can someone more knowledgeable than me help me out with this one? I’m currently in the process of buying a new house which has a gas boiler and a hot water cylinder. My instinct would be to rip it all out and put a combi in as i hate the thought of using gas to heat a whole cylinder of water just to wash my hands (it has an electric shower). I do like baths though.

So would it be better for me to put a combi in or should i get solar PV on the roof and connect it to the cylinder to keep the water temp topped up? I think the costs of installing either system would be broadly similar (I’m not thinking of batteries at this point).

Five years is pushing it for a battery on a modern car. Electronics are so sensitive to even a slightly low voltage and old batteries tend to just randomly die when you least need them to. Just get a new one.

That’s absolutely true, currently my Ender three pro is printing beautifully but then you’ll have a run of prints that just don’t work and its quite frustrating (and time consuming) trying to track down the issue.

That’ll be bed temperature of 65 degrees, the nozzle wants to be between 200 and 215 for PLA. I tend to use 215 but it does depend on the brand of PLA.

A 15 year old battery could be the whole problem, modern cars really don’t like old batteries, slightly low voltages cause all kind of bizarre faults.

It does work on wifi calling but obviously wont work if you have no cell phone signal. Mine was 60 seconds early,

Its the Structural Engineers PI that you be claiming against if something fails, not the builders. That’s one thing you are paying him for, to cover that liability.

I’ve replaced a few unreplaceable batteries in various devices over the years. I’ve found its rarely worth it as the “new” battery is unlikely to be anywhere near as good as the one the manufacturer originally installed.

I used to get in a hot bath and use a little water pistol! When that broke a bought a proper rubber bulb thing from ebay, works fine, don’t squeeze too hard though.

I’ve got a pair, I’m happy with them. If anything they are a bit understated, I should have gone for the sticker option!

When I was asked the same questions for what I assume was a similar kind of job I just said “around 1989 ish ?? 40 in a 30, Sheffield”. Something along those lines. I have no idea when it actually was but its around that date. Seemed to have been good enough for them.

I bought a pair from wiggle and I’ve just ordered two more! True to size I’d say.

What did you use to lube the pistons? What have you used in the past? Maybe its contaminated the seals and caused them to swell.

Yes it does that okay but say i go for a walk, put the watch on and put my phone in my pocket. I should get notifications of calls, messages etc on the watch but generally i don’t unless I first start the app up and force it to connect. They should automatically connect when they come into range of each other.

I agree, but I wonder if they are either the wrong bulbs for the car, been assembled incorrectly or perhaps they are fake?

Seriously, until the crack is wide enough to get your finger into you’ve got nothing to worry about.

Yes I’m uk based and the rates I quoted came straight from a Google search of UK SEG rates. The fact that there are many rates available over a wide range shows it’s competitive even for the small amounts we are talking about. At the end of the day you don’t pay out for solar PV to make cash exporting it, you do it to reduce your own grid import usage so anything you manage to export is a bonus and costs you zero to do.

Its now called the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) and the only guarantee is that the export rate must be greater than zero pence per kWh. Basically the grid don’t want your spare electricity, they are having no trouble generating it themselves. Its a competitive market having said that and rates seem to be between 2p and 15p per kWh but many companies require you to sign up to one of their supply packages as well to get the export rate so the highest export rate may not offer the best import rate.

The 3 square metres allowed under PD for a porch is not very big when you actually set it out. Its less than the size of a typical disabled WC for example.

Anything forward of the principle elevation (so the front in your case – bar a 3sq m porch) needs planning permission and I’d suggest it’s unlikely to be granted especially if you in a row of other similar houses. If yours was the only one with no obvious building line then you stand a chance. Not in this case I feel.

Despite them appearing to fit perfectly I think they are upside down. The coil part of the filament should hang downwards and yours seem to be going upwards if that makes sense.

I work in Design Services at my local district council – I’m an architectural technologist working on mostly social housing. I love it as I’m doing something good for the people of the district and my work isn’t simply lining someone else’s pocket as in private practice.

You’ll never get enough insulation  in to avoid it getting stinking hot in the summer.  Loft spaces are great to at least help to keep the upstairs bearable.

There was a chicken farm near where I used to work, 24,000 chickens in four sheds. From day old chicks to ready for the table in twenty eight days. The smell when they cleared the sheds out for the next batch was unbelievable…

77 knots ground speed is very slow unless its flying into a massive headwind or its on the runway or its a helicopter perhaps.

They have a PP3 backup battery. I’m surprised no one has mention this yet.
