Camping Ascou la Forge. Big open flat field with a very modern toilet block. You can walk offroad into the nearest town of Ax les Thermes.and a circular route over into the spectacular Vallee D’Orlu.

If its the same Dutch owners then they organised and ran various outdoor activities  and had a big room full of maps and guides. I went canyoning with the owner and it was great.

We ran a pretty successful retail business through the 80’s and 90’s on the edge of a large city.

Through this time business rates spiralled dramatically and we had the growth of the out of town shopping centres. Firstly Meadowhall, and subsequently the White Rose at Leeds. Takings started to reduce and Saturdays saw a halving of what we would normally take.

Ultimately all the hours we were working, open 6 days a week and stock buying on a Sunday, just became pointless. Ultimately the business closed and the property became a pharmacy and hairdressers.

Large developers and retailers at that time had far too much power so just needed to promise jobs and planning applications would be a breeze.

Now we have bland looky likey concrete industrial units that have become  a type of leisure activity. Maybe I am an old cycnic but I just cannot understand how anyone finds spending hours walking about in one of these places as pleasurable.

I think the people who would be likely to vote yes to capital punishment are people who believe the judicial system is letting them down. Sentences appear to be lenient and the phrase ” crime doesn’t pay ” seems to be a false one. Maybe if there was something more realistic for the public to see such as the local drug dealers BMW ( other makes are available ) being crushed.

You could try the Raggalds Inn just outside Queensbury. Its not too far from the top of Thornton Road towards Queensbury. They’ve got a website and the reviews seem good.

According to the experts , places like Vietnam,Bangladesh,India,China ,etc are supposed to have the highest growth rates in the coming years. Tracker fund in emerging markets maybe ?

Depends what your risk/return thinking is.

Who are you flying with ? I’ve found Ryanair to be the cheapest , especially if you’ve got the nerve to wait until a few days before your flight for booking the car.Last one was with Centauro. Brand new Nissan,4kms on clock. No issues at all. I’ve used OK car rental in the past who were good but seem a bit pricey now. I always take out independent insurance normally for a full year at around £40.

Ourselves and neighbours have bird feeders out and these always attract the rats.

My next door neighbour,an old army man, waits by his upstairs window ( not a book depository ) then dispatches them with an air rifle when they appear. We’ve now moved our bird feeders to a grass verge across the road to try and keep the rats away from the houses.

I have a 2011 hatch with the petrol 1.8tsi engine and DSG gearbox. No problems in 50k miles, just routine servicing. Dry clutch on the petrols so no oil to change and a cam chain engine. Used for long distance driving down to Southern Spain each year and its so smooth and quiet. One stretch is a continuous 10 hours and I do get a bit of bum/back ache.

Only irritating thing is the rear seat base does not split or tilt so you have to remove the whole thing to get the seat backs flatter.

    Would definitely buy another.

I had this same problem last year. They wanted a screenshot sending of the on line check in page. I then had to go through a procedure of actually not checking in for my return flight before I could check in for my outbound one.Stupid. They want you to pay the extra for priority boarding, reserved seat, etc.

I’ve seen quite a few IFA’s over the years and have never been offered funds from smaller providers. It has always been mainstream large investment/insurance companies.I doubt very much an IFA would spend the time to research 100/200/300 funds or more for a client.

Theres a ” decree ” now in Spain for anyone wishing to stay longer than 3 months.Basically you have to prove that you have enough income/savings to support yourself and have medical insurance. The documentation has to be shown at an Extranjeros office or a designated police station. In return you receive a residency paper.
With regards to working, first off an NIE number would be required.
I the job is legal and through the books then there will be a contract.A basic contract would just give access to healthcare in Spain.
Larger contributions by an employer would give holiday and sickness benefits plus social security entitlement.
I did read that a voluntary payment of 60 euros a month can be paid to get into the healthcare system.

Your investment will be classed as a Self invested Personal Pension.
It is up to you to decide which funds you spread your money through so you need to spend a bit of time looking at the details of some funds.
Past performance, commission charges and details of the fund manager together with the funds aims will all be shown.
H&L charge a commission basically to provide you with information and research and to be able to easily manage your investments on line.
If you feel one of your chosen funds is underperforming but another is doing well its usually very easy to transfer using the H&L platform.
H&L do a wealth 150 list that is split into different fund categories. It may be worth you having a look through this first and seeing if any funds fit your criteria. Its not complicated, just needs a bit of time spending on it.There will be funds available that you would never be offered by a financial adviser.
I told my adviser at the bank the 3 funds i’d self invested in and he said he’d never heard of them !

I have a house in Spain and looking at getting the floor retiled.Down at the builders merchant looking at tiles I asked the owner about the tiling cost. 6 to 8 euros per sq metre labour only.I’m astonished at the difference compared to the UK.

Sadexpunk. If you are going through H&L you will need to be a bit more specific about the funds. For self invest you will have to pick the fund managers/investment companies that best suit your chosen spread of investments.H&L do have their own ready made funds but I think the commission rate is quite high.
Its not difficult with H&L as there is loads of info available and can be broken down into the sectors you are looking at.
Keep an eye on the yearly charges for each fund and remember that H&L add,i think 0.45%,onto each funds charge.
Fundsmith have ,so far, done well for me,so might be worth looking at.Less commission direct than through H&L.
I’ve been slowly transferring pensions and isas away from the large providers/banks as I feel I have more control.

    I ordered a Canyon Endurace CF9 and it took just over a week to be delivered ( classed as in stock }
Perfectly boxed with just the handlebars, seatpost and wheels to fit.
Gear indexing was spot on with loads of little info leaflets and Canyon handbook. You get all the tools to put it together as well.
The spec for the money,£1750 delivered can’t be matched for a new bike.Especially the wheels which are DT Di Cut.
Claimed 7kg a bit optimistic, but lighter than my Scott CR1.
Most importantly, the ride. Its great.Very secure and accurately tracking front end.Rear has a little bit more give than the Scott but that’s probably due to the carbon leaf spring type seatpost.
I looked on forums and buyers experience with sizing to help me with the size choice. Also used the canyon sizing guide.
No real negativity unless you don’t like the original seat, stem or handlebars.I’ve found them spot on.
I’d have no hesitation buying from canyon again.

Theresa May received 43% of the votes which makes her the most popular leader in voting terms. In our democracy do we replace her with someone who received far fewer votes ?

Buy a book that will give you the basics. Sentences you would use on your trips to Spain. ” Do you have “, ” I would like ” Where is “.
Learning verb endings can be difficult so maybe just learn the endings for I,you and we.I have, you have,we have, they have. all have the same verb ending in English but this is different in Spanish.
    Basically,keep it simple.

£400 would get you a 1400g wheelset with easily available spokes from a wheelbuilder.Spend the rest on some quality tyres.

I’ve run Shimano RS80’s and Fulcrum Racing 3’s.
Pretty close weight wise but the difference is in the stiffness.Fulcrums are a stiff wheelset and I like that. Not sure if Shimano have widened their rim but its pretty narrow.A 25 tyre sits really nicely on the wider Fulcrum rim.
Its the Fulcrums that are on the bike full time now.
I really can’t see the point of the semi carbon Shimano rim.Marginal weight saving ? Softer ride ?
Have a look at a wheelbuilders such as DCR as on your budget you’d get a nice lightweight set.

Puerto de Mazarron is quite nice with a modern marina and eating places around it.
Just South is Bolnuevo with a long usually deserted beach.
Cartagena is historic with the roman ruins.
Places like Torrevieja are not for me as I like to feel I’m in Spain !

I have a Superb which is the same year and engine that you’re looking at.
Some of the 1.8 tsi engines had the wrong pistons fitted in 2010/11 cars. This gave high oil consumtion.Briskoda forum would be a good place to check. Also the cam chain tensioner can get noisy with some owners changing them at 40 k miles as a precaution.
No problems with mine and the engine is so smooth and quiet.

I had a green one from new.
Nice bike to ride and could be hustled along pretty quickly.
Engine always sounded a bit rattly ,”they are all like that, sir”,and at around 20k miles it started to jump out of 1st.Traded it in for a CB900 that handled better but was a bit bland.

We have s&s ISA’s in Fundsmith,Woodford and Lindsell Train.
The Fundsmith was taken out directly with them and the other 2 through H L.
This week we’re going to take a Newton one out through H L and in the next tax year probably a moderate risk one.
Someone mentioned spreading their money through 4 different funds. As far as I am aware you can only take one s&s Isa out per tax year but can top up existing ones as well.Subject to max allowance.
