Orange 5 was faultless for a year. Then got a puncture and a broken seat post cable in one ride. I now have a stif morf 🙂

    Sounds extremely unlucky.

I bought a new bike (Stif Morf) 2 months ago, have ridden it almost daily, washed it once, crashed it a few times including nosing straight into the middle of a gap jump and it’s been perfect.

Put it on a stand last week to give it a service and nothing needed doing!

I went for a stif morf. Best bike I’ve ever ridden. My house backs onto trails so I ride it almost daily and haven’t ridden my orange five since I got it.

Sorry just saw you question. I treat it exactly like plasterboard and kick from the back.

Only difference is I score it two or three times

Just score it a couple of times with a sharp blade and it snaps perfectly well.

One blade will easily last enough cuts for 5 boards.

    I use the stuff regularly.

Only 130mm travel but I’ve just received a Stif Morf and am blown away by it.

Long, slack, low and rides better than my full sus

I have a pair of Oakleys but end up using my using my work safety glasses – Ox wrap around light tint with a mirror finish for everything now

They cost £3.50. Have full UV protection and anti shatter etc….

I’ll never buy expensive sunglasses for sport again

Just climb more. Until you’re climbing 7a and above I wouldn’t even think about trying hang boards etc…

    Totally pointless activity

Unless… you can surf and you’re in the sea with waves that are too small and hard work for a shortboard….

Then it’s fantastic fun and I love it

    A torch.

Just bought my 8 year old a metal cased LED torch. Cost £12, is really bright and youd have thought Id given him a light sabre. He loves it

I left a corporate job I hated but paid well (£52,500) and now am a carpenter….

Left the corporate world with a house but no savings at all and spent a year as a casual labourer whilst I spent every spare minute learning carpentry….

I now work full time as a chippy and do private work at the weekends… ive genuinely never been happier

The money was tough for the first year but honestly once I’d managed to scale back the outgoings I’ve not once even for a second looked back

    Yes it gets easier.

Run regularly for a couple of weeks and suddenly you’ll be able to cruise along and really enjoy it.

Of course then you start trying to go faster and y
    that hurts too 🙂

I use the Sony walkman for swimming. Works really well as long as you take a minute to get the right fit.

Still use my shuffle for running though… find ear buds are perfect

For a basic house extension just get decent plans to the builder and they will run from there. No need for the architect to manage unless your doing something very unusual…

Where abouts are you based? I know an excellent builder if you would like a recommendation

You cannot imagine how well that would go with my bike!

Send it to me immediately and I’ll happily send you a photo of it mounted and looking amazing

    It’s for the greater good

Cateye Volt 300 – had for ages. Rechargable and plenty bright enough for dark country roads.

You dont need 1000 lumens on a road bike

I don’t think you giving up your riding is necessary – 1 night a week is nothing!

We have a 16 week old girl and I still train most days.

Definitely get her to go to some of the free mother and baby classes. She’ll meet loads of other mums in the same position. My other half has something most days with other local mums which keeps her busy and gives her a very valuable support group to compare baby tactics etc… I think she would be really struggling without this.

If she’s breastfeeding and nipper won’t take a bottle then it’s going to be tough as there’s little escape for her.

I did get my other half out for a bike ride whilst we left the little one with my mum for a couple of hours and she forgot about the baby for a good hour and was just her again…

Obviously being a girl and therefore mental she then felt very guilty about forgetting about the baby and this upset her…. Can’t win!!!!!!!!!

Great choice. I started on a bandit 400 but have since owned the 600. Lovely bikes – try to find a standardish one though.

Also worth looking at the SV650. V-twin engine is lovely

If it’s a temporary job then there is a good chance that the company will be looking to payrol via an agency for a few reasons. You wont get a better rate going direct for a temp role.

I its permanent then go for it! They’d love to save on a big fee

    That’s a great photo!

Got a similar one of me and the boy surfing last week on the same board…

All that baby nonsense seems worth it once they start joining in

Ok – the bikes go. For now…

I’ll use the money to spruce up the T4 and get away on more camping weekends with the kids

    Thanks all!!

It’s one of the only forums I’ve seen where you have a single page for all topics… I think that helps

Most have too many sub categories that are a pain in the vag to navigate….

    Maybe

    Thanks for replies!

The other bike is a naked SV650 which I only haven’t sold as I crashed it last year. Minor damage but still needs replacement rear plastics to be mint again.

I thought about the track idea but to be honest I spend all my weekends either climbing, mtbing or surfing so can’t take up another hobby! Especially one I can’t share with my 7 year old.

Love the vintage bike idea and very nearly bought a bonneville instead of the daytona but thought I’d never ride it as wanted a fairing for longer trips. Maybe an old 70s/80s trail bike would still be fun, lots of fettling and less easy ban speeds!

Strange nagging feeling that I’m being selfish keeping on riding…

Ha! Think I’d need to ban myself from shows about great bike trips!

Good point about regretting buying a car instead…

Feel in a real quandary about it and no idea where it’s come from

    Had this happen last night!

We were riding across the flagged areas of the MOD land in Pirbright (flags down) and came across a group of cows with calves on the narrow path.

Got past slowly – went round the corner and there were two calves and two cows….

We both stopped pretty quick when we saw that one of the ‘cows’ was a muscley bugger with massive balls and a raging erection!!

We stood very still until it moved away and then crept past to the fence… scary but the bull didnt seem at all interested.

Apart from Roald Dahl as a kid I read all the Willard Price books – theres about 14 of them about all sorts of adventures

Great books – just ordered a couple for my 7 year old to start reading
