Bar work, labouring on building sites, chalet hosting, driving/airport transfers, kitchen work to name a few. Don’t know the specific current job climate mind you. Try contacting one of the many British chalet/holiday companies or go out there at the start of the summer and chance it.

You could get accommodation with some jobs. Results in less money though.

I worked summers for a few years and have many friends who did the same and are still there 10 years later.

Some now own their own businesses there.

    I love that place.

If you can sacrafice bikes for skis/boards for 4 months or so, the french Alps. Can always head to the coast for winter. You could loose a few years in a place like Morzine nae bother and have a great time doing it.

If I was the seller I would be taking even longer to post it now.

Also, if someone specifically states “no offers” and you make an offer, that makes you a “messer”. Dont be offended or surprised if they get pissed off.

My D3 is the most comfortable helmet I have ever owned. Are you sure you got the correct size? I can’t even imagine how anyone could find a D3 uncomfortable. Its way better than my D2 and numerous other full face helmets ive owned Unless you have a very particularly shaped head??

Also, I was under the impression the D3 was the safest Dh helmet out there. Quick release pads for neck injury etc.

Road helmet standards are not necessarily relevant for DH. There was a good article why in Dirt a few years ago.
Often the need for more ventilation prevents helmets being road classified (as is the case with the D3 I believe. Cheap helmets often have less ventilation thus are able to get the standard. essentially they are just mx lids. Heavy and hot.

Anyway. The D3 looks the best by far and Troy Lee is waaaay cooler than Kali and thats what really matters. ;-)

You really need a lifting platform to do it safely. Commercial gyms don’t often have these.

Plus it doesn’t really work the gunz so most don’t bother with it.

Your average PT or Crossfit instructor won’t have a clue how to do them properly. They might think they do but very few will realy know what they are talking about. You would be better off finding a weightlifting club with experienced and qualified coaches. A good qualification to look for in a PT would be for them to be UKSCA accredited. They need to know their olympic lifting shit to have this

Both the Snatch and Clean and Jerk are highly technical movements. I see them done terribly in the gym all the time. They are great fun to do though and will develop your explosive power tremendously but get good advice. A good coach should be able to shift a considerable amount of weight. That will tell you they can actually lift. Anyone can sort of do it with light weights.

There are some good online resources – coachesinfo.com, nsca, uksca etc. don’t listen to anyone who reads bodybuilding magazines.

    Its rank!

Mind you, most of their beer tastes like soap if you ask me.

And their bar is full of rude staff and punters wearing brewdog tshirts (shakes head).

    Cunning marketing though!

Only on this forum could a discussion about such an amazingly positive achievement descend into such a pile of negative old housewife squabbling bullshit.

The kid is 20 years old, from the UK and is a world champion. I remember when he couldn’t lift his own bike on to the up lift trailer at races for christs sake, and be still kicked my arse!!

Who gives a shit It wasn’t on the BBC website for a day. That’s why there are good websites like dirt, vital and ridemonkey for real fans who care.

The Indian restaurant in Morzine is no more. Thank god. I heard some good stories about why not.

There are some cracking restaurants in the area though and not all use cheese in every dish.

I gave you a constructive suggestion. Go and buy new cranks. It would indeed save you wasting a lot of time.

Sorry but this sort of thing just bugs me. Its clearly very worn and not a warranty issue. Doesn’t really require much debate.

If your tyres or brake pads wore down from friction/normal use would you want them warrantied too?

    Robz

With a crank that worn I wouldnt even have thought about warranty let alone starting a thread on a forum about it. I would have thought about going down the bike shop and buying new cranks.

I had a set of Pace Monstor (their spelling) DH forks.

They broke virtually every single time I used them. Damper rods snapped where they bolted to the lowers.

    Worst. Forks. Ever.

And their customer support was pish.

Personally, I really do find it appalling when I go mountain biking and find rough bumpy trails with a difficult, unpredictable surface that can be challenging to ride. Terrible state of affairs. Especially when all those blasted roots and rocks cause numerous pedal strikes! Must be a design flaw with the bike!

Riding without gloves is very fashionable on the DH scene at the moment.

Heres my hand after clipping the landing of a double and going over the bars with Troy Lee XC gloves on:

They didn’t really help…..or could it have been a lot worse?

Well you can see the video – for me? Not even remotely worth it. Hours of pushing / carrying your bike for miles of steep rocky stepped path?

I can’t even begin to understand you. Miles of steep rocky path sounds pretty good to me.

Could you even ride down it? Might need a helmet too.

Looks like good fun. Not too many walkers? I haven’t watched it all yet.

It is not a messed up statement, it is a true statement. Red wine, real ale, stout etc are rich in antioxidants. Drink it in moderation and the alcohol doesn’t matter. Drink it in excess it will.

My mrs’s gran had a whisky every morning and she lived for a long time. Alcohol kept her blood nice and thin.

IMO a lot of people should give up drinking, especially those who can’t differentiate from having a drink and getting drunk.

What is the disadvantage of drinking sensibly?

Certain alcoholic drinks are good for you in moderation.

Jesus. Why torture yourself? Everything in moderation. I don’t like getting shit faced anymore but why give up a glass of wine with a meal, post ride pint or nice evening whisky?

You can go out, drink, and not get pissed you know!

Nice Gigondas tonight, 2 glasses won’t kill me (hopefully).

    Drop bars…. Ah!

Didn’t realise it wasn’t going on a mountain bike. Sorry.

We must be doing a very different type of riding if you think a BB7 is even remotely in the same league as a decent hydro brake.

Is enhancing your performance using certain drugs any different from enhancing your performance via surgery (laser eye etc.) or other medical interventions (cortizone injections etc)?

Why train endurance in a gym when you can train it on your bike?

The problem is most people approach gym training from a bodybuilding perspective, regardless of whether they are bodybuilders or not.

The gym is for getting strong and powerful. Neural adaptaions. (unless you want to get bigger – some cyclists could do with it.

Check out Olympic track cyclist Jamie Staff….

    Jamie Staff squatting

I reckon that is significantly more than most of the bodybuilders allegedly on roids down your local gym….

Seriously heavy. Seriously strong and looks athletic, not muscle bound. Benefit of following a properly periodised training programme.

P.S. dont use the leg press…Squat. Requires less weight and uses more muscles. Leg press can drain you as you can load it up with silly weight.

Some of us have been into this shit from the start.

You’ve been in to stickers since the start?
    Thats hardcore.
You must literally have thousands. How do you fit them all on your bike?
