BMW 330d Touring MSport (or 335d but May be out your budget).
Both great to drive, fast, economical and bulletproof.
RobzFree MemberI hope it doesn’t get washed away. Its a 16th century castle, of historical significance, in a beautiful part of the country.
£100, 000 seems like a worthwhile investment to stop it collapsing. If the charity is happy and able to help, great. I don’t give a hoot if I’m not allowed to visit it.

“Britains Best” have better things to do. When people are putting together a programme like this the problem they face (although they don’t really think its a problem) is that they can only choose from people who always say ‘yes’ to stuff. People who get really good at what they do get good by knowing what to say ‘no’ to.Indeed.

Mac is right: the tattooist I’m booked in with is booking approx. 5 months in advance due to workload. Meaning when I booked at the end of November, the earliest they could do was the end of April.
I doubt they’d have time to do anything like this.I waited for nearly two years to get an appointment with my current tattooist (and I have to fly to Denmark every time I want to see him too). Was late getting back to him about an appointment this spring and he’s full already (even for existing clients) so have to fly to Bologna to see him at a convention there instead as its the only free time he has.
RobzFree MemberTo be fair, The boy Jay’s portraits are nae bad. I’m not really into realistic styles though.
RobzFree MemberOne of the problems with this programme is that the terrible tattoos are only being replaced (for the most part) with very average quality tattoos.
They aren’t bad. But they’re not “Britain’s best”.
Really all people applying tattoos should be able to do it to an acceptable standard. No where near enough regulation which means thousands of people have terrible, terrible tattoos.
Most people really don’t know what is possible if you spend enough/know where to go.
RobzFree MemberMost of the weight gain caused by creatine is water retention in the muscle so most people do experience a slight short term increase while using it (in addition to any long term increase in body weight caused by increased muscle mass).
That said, 30mg of creatine daily is not very much. I usually take 5g per day when using it and definitely do put on a kg or so quite quickly
RobzFree MemberHad Guinea Pigs for the last 11 years. Only had boys.
I wouldn’t keep a single one. They like the company of others. The two current ones do have a bit of a bicker from time to time but nothing serious and still like each other’s company.
I think they are great little pets. Much more personality than other rodents. They will sit on your lap and enjoy a tickle like a cat. They like and appreciate human attention once used to it.
Mine live outside in the summer but are currenly living it up in the conservatory. Buy the biggest cage you can afford/fit in your room/garden. The more light and space the better. Don’t get a cheap dark wooden hutch.
They really should come indoors if it gets much below 10 degrees or so. Certainly if it gets near frost. They will probably cope but…
(FYI Basil is guinea pig Crack)
I find that Sheltie’s are the most friendly but their long hair needs a trim every few months. Texals are nutters but fun.
RobzFree MemberA large. No question.
I am 5 10 on a large with a 35mm stem. It’s perfect.
Best bike I’ve ever had.
RobzFree MemberI’m 5 10 and ride a Large Capra (with 35mm stem). I have ridden medium and it felt too short for me with a 50mm stem. Seat was miles in the air at full extension too.
I love the Capra. Its hands down the best/most capable bike I’ve ever owned In 22 years of mountain biking
RobzFree MemberI live in Aberdeen and am generally never bothered by midgies at any time of year. Even further west in the Cairngorms (Braemar etc) it’s a non issue.
RobzFree MemberDidn’t he land a spaceship on an asteroid?
And in answer to the original question, as a fan of the Japanese style I like a 3/4 sleeve (Shichibu)
RobzFree MemberSince taking up weight training 2.5 years ago I have gained a lot of muscle and also a lot of flab! So my chest size has gone up 5″ but sadly so has my waist! Feel fine though so I’m not that bothered unless I look in a mirror.
I would suggest that overeating is your problem, not weight training.
Conditioning via resistance trying is an effective way to manage body composition and can definitely compliment mountain biking if done correctly.
RobzFree MemberBMI does not account for muscle mass. It’s a simple measure of height x weight squared.
If you are athletic and carry more muscle than a regular person it is possible for your BMI to be high despite low body fat.
My bodybuilding friend with single figure body fat percentage is morbidly obese according to his BMI
Body composition is a more accurate measure (using skin fold calipers)
RobzFree MemberOdense is nice.
I am not usually a fan of cities but I love Copenhagen. Spent a week there last month and found loads to do. Most of the attractions were free too which was a bonus.
RobzFree MemberI’m 5 10 on a large Capra. I wouldn’t want it any smaller. I run a 35mm stem but I am used to a DH bike.
Nice wheelbase in a large.
RobzFree MemberI am 5 10 on a large (carbon but the geo is the same).
I couldn’t envisage riding a smaller frame. I am running a 35mm stem but I am used to a DH bike.
Feels perfect for me.
RobzFree MemberIt’s the same as the Snatch in Olympic weight lifting. You think people pick up 200kg with their arms and lift it over head.
Just because they’re holding on to the bar.
No. It’s a lower body/upper back movement. Extension of the ankle, knee and hip & elevation of the shoulders propel the bar upwards. The arms just connect the body to the object (bar in this case). It’s the same when manualingI found the best way to learn to jump was to practice repeatedly, fall off frequently and persist until it works. (It still doesn’t always work).
RobzFree MemberDo a quick Google Scholar search.
I know there has been a lot of research on this of late but I am not familiar with the concencus. Last time I read something in this they were suggesting that caps can lead to a false sense of security and encourage peoe to take risks that they otherwise wouldn’t do.
What is the national governing body currently recommend.
RobzFree MemberWhy not just eat food?
A serving of protein shake is usually about 25g of protein. That’s about the same as 100g of cooked chicken. Have that and a nice salad instead and its much better for you (vitamins, fibre, minerals etc).
A shake wont keep you feeling full very long.
I use them but as a supplement to a balanced diet -I have one immediately following the gym (along with some carbs) as I don’t normally eat until 2 hrs later.(myprotein is a good value brand).
RobzFree MemberIt could be many things – muscle strain, tendinitis, ligament strain. Or you may just be moving your elbow in an unnatural way.
RICE it if it’s still sore.
Next time try pull ups rather than pull downs (i.e don’t use a machine or cable).
I find doing pull ups forces you to maintain much better posture and generally results in your form being much better than when using a machine (assuming you don’t start swinging around like mad). People using machines or cables often press the bar down in front of their body too much rather than rowing it into their sternum keeping the elbows back. This puts strain on the anterior shoulder and elbow. You can’t do this whilst performing a pull-up as your body weight won’t allow it.
Pull ups are also just much better for you as you will probably shift much more weight (body weight). It’s almost pointless doing heaps of reps of a light weight on a lat pull down. I’d rather do fewer reps with body weight.
Bent over row or pull up (wide pronated grip) are top exercises.
RobzFree MemberBasil is like crack cocaine to Guinea Pigs.
My two would literally trample over each other to get at a big bunch. Try tempting it out with that. It might be difficult though. Their default option is to cower and hide though so it may be tricky.
Or alternatively call the RSPCA before a cat gets it

Not quite driving the number 17 between union square and culter.
The 17 goes from Kincorth to Newhills so it’s just as well you don’t do that.
RobzFree MemberI recommend Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 for covering stains prior to painting.
Works a treat.
RobzFree MemberTalent is the result/combination of many things.
Look up “Jackson Goldstone” to see what can be achieved on a bike at a very young age.
That kid knows how to push himself to progress.
RobzFree MemberI know plenty people who have ridden for many hours over many years and technically they still suck.
I repeat, time spent practicing is not the most important factor. Talent (not necessarily innate but a combo of many internal and external factors) mixed with repeated deliberate, progressive practice is what’s important.
Starting young definitely helps.
I was as good as I’ll ever be on a bike when I was 17. Jumped off any double or drop and rode down any technical descent I came across. In the proceeding 16 years I have not improved at all despite seasons spent working in the alps and many many hours on the bike. I have in fact, become less confident and able on a bike in that period.
Why? Because I did not push/apply myself while practicing with the enthusiasm that I did previously. (And ultimately I perhaps reached my celing of ability?)
RobzFree MemberDon’t give him any pudding till he sorts it out?
(Sorry…But seriously… Maybe just introduce lots of games that involve writing? Scrabble, crosswords etc? How’s his reading?)
RobzFree MemberYou shouldn’t be allowed to live in a flat if you have children. Especially an upper floor flat.
The noise children make playing isn’t reasonable if it destroys the peace and quiet of others in their own home constantly.
I had to sell a flat after only living in it for four months due to the noise of children running jumping, dropping toys and bouncing balls overhead. Complaining to the parents achieved nothing.
I would never inflict that kind of noise on others.
One if my friends is currently suffering with the same problem. Family of five crammed into an upper floor two bed flat directly above him because it’s in a good school catchment area. I can’t go round there after my previous experience. Stresses me out too much. The noise of a child running overhead on a wooden floor literally makes my heart rate jump about 50bpm.
RobzFree MemberI thought you wanted a fun car that was cheap to run and wouldn’t need heaps of welding?
In which case my suggestion is both informative and relevant.
So that’s three from three.
RobzFree MemberYou could maybe try advertising the MX5 on a hairdressing forum or suchlike…
;-)For replacement I suggest BMW E36 Coupe 6 cylinder (325, 328 etc.) Cheap as chips, sound awesome and great fun drive.
RobzFree MemberRead up on “deliberate practice”
It’s not about how much you ride, rather it’s more about how much you push yourself to improve when you do ride.
The old theory of 10 000 hours to become an expert (Ericsson) is old hat.
Simple solution… Find riding buddies who are a lot more awesome than you and try to keep up.
RobzFree MemberI would have phoned 999 as I wouldn’t want them on the road.
Well done.
RobzFree MemberMartin Miller gin is ace. Especially with ginger ale believe it or not.
RobzFree MemberWith my BOS Kirk I am at 265 psi (I weigh 103kg). Its still pretty soft so would like to increase the pressure but I am scared to do so…
RobzFree MemberFoam rollers are really useful for helping people learn to swim!
I wasted ages foam rolling before I realised it was doing very little to alleviate my issues. I even progressed to using a drain pipe and Olympic bar on my quads as a foam roller had no affect in me after a while. It can feel nice in certain body parts but as for long term effectiveness?
Look into active isolated stretching.
