Sinn dealers in the UK that I’m aware of include James Porter & Son in Glasgow, Frances & Gaye in Coventry and First Class Watches in Kenilworth.

Has she considered college instead? All Scottish colleges offer articulation pathways from many HNDs to third year of a matched degree so she could study 2 years at college then 2 at uni and end up in the same place as she originally planned (potentially).

If she’s doing advanced Highers and the like this year then it may not be necessary but it’s worth being aware of. Colleges are fantastic and very underrated. There are loads of pathways available- even into law, engineering and medicine.

This is the Dolce and Gabbana story?

I mean, a lot of dogs really stink so is this such a bad thing? Obviously you would hope that there were more accessible options too but always nice to have a posh option for a special occasion…

Have you ever considered teaching/lecturing? Many colleges are crying out for experienced engineers to teach apprentices and other students. In many colleges you can train for your teaching qualifications as you go. It’s a good way to access other (renewables) training too to broaden your industry skillset.

It is difficult for the education sector to compete with industry in terms of salary but the pay is decent, the pension/holidays are generous and it’s an extremely rewarding job.

I should caveat – I only have knowledge of the Scottish sector.

Does the pain prevent you from moving your ankle? In my experience calf cramp basically locks my ankle in a a fixed position that you have to flex and extend forcibly to make go away.

Indeed. I have no issue with ETA or Valjoux whatsoever and wouldn’t hesitate to buy a watch with one. My Breitling  has a slightly jazzed up 2824 in it I believe. I have a couple SW200 watches too

Would I spend 7,8 or 9 grand on one though? No, and that’s what I see many Paneria retailing for which blows my mind.

Am I right in thinking that Panerai use ETA / Valjoux movements?

I’ve been going to Morzine for 25+ years and never carried a lock for during the day use.

I just don’t let my bike out of sight. it is possible on most mountain/town restaurants and bars.

you could  I suppose carry a little Hiplock as a slight insurance but I really don’t like carrying anything so don’t.

Most of the thefts I’m aware of were carried out at night in locked garages etc.

It’s easy. Down to Thonon then cruise down the side of the lake and  through Geneva on satnav (or follow the very clear signage).  Take your time and there’s nothing to worry about. There’s a 1 hr pick up spot that basically lets you park at the arrivals gate. Not expensive either.

I did this exact drive a couple of times last summer without any issue. Then drove into the city to drop my wife and 1.5 yr old son off at the airport for the final time and for some reason had a brain fart and took the motorway. Got caught ant the border and was made to pay the annual toll fee. Doh!

And if you want to stop to stretch your legs on the way back stop at Yvoire just before Thonon.  It’s beautiful.

Yeah I don’t think Cav is paying for his Richard Milles. Pogacar is sponsored by them too I see.

Anyway, I don’t think they cost £200k at trade prices – I would love to see the RM mark up – x50 maybe? Maybe not for some of their mad sapphire case ones but anyway…

Speaking of high quality integrated sports watches I’m selling an immaculate ice blue Chris Ward 12 40mm if anyone is interested. ?

I think it does a good job of showing the pressure that some riders feel to perform. Particularly those that are yet to realise their full anticipated potential The expectation on people like O’Connor is huge. I’m not surprised some of them behave and react like they do. It’s a high stress and pressure environment I’m sure.

I really enjoyed the whole series.

My renewal came in £800 more than my current policy – with zero claims or incidents in 20+ years and no changes to my circumstances.

Even shopping around I struggled to get anything near my current policy price. So now the car is gone.

Cholula Hot Sauce is a classic brand that’s available in most supermarkets.

I am a big fan of green chilli hot sauces too. Go well with egg and fish based dishes. Green Tabasco is always in my fridge.

There are loads of small artisan brands worth trying. TK max can be good for random American brands.

The Rapha Lightweight Trail jacket is excellent. Very light and breathable. Perfect for dry or showery conditions just a touch chilly for a jersey.

I have an Endura MT500 too but that’s just for deepest winter. Far too warm and not breathable enough 90% of the time.

Just that it’s got on the fly micro adjust that my Black Bay GMT doesn’t have, and that there’s a nice Tudor logo machined into it. Very much like a Rolex Sub clasp.

It’s also just a bit more dainty as the bracelet has more of taper than my GMT too so the whole clasp assembly is slimmer and more lightweight.

    Lovely BB58! A classic.

Picked this up yesterday – Black Bay 41 Monocrome

Thought I was sold on the five link jubilee style bracelet but after trying it on I just wasn’t convinced. Much preferred the three link. The new clasp is a marked improvement on the previous version.

I was indifferent about it when it was launched but after seeing it in the flesh I just really liked it.

    I really like that Timex!

I’m currently in Mallorca and saw people doing this today. One lady was carrying a little spray bottle on a belt clip. It made me chuckle.

Also the place is completely overrun with feral farm cats, like five or six hanging out at every street corner, all battered and missing eyes etc.  Despite this there appeared to still be plenty birds going about.

I don’t have cats, but there are plenty round where I live, and other people’s cats bother me far, far less than other people’s dogs.

There are too many dogs and untrained owners in this world

It’s so true.. Mayonnaise only takes about 3 minutes and 4 ingredients to make in a food processor but I only do it about twice a year, usually when it’s a core component of something a bit fancy.

Danish Remoulade is superior to both mayo and salad cream.

Those in the know use Kewpie Mayo from Japan.

It’s not good for everyone apparently.

*not being sarky by the way, that’s my understanding of what the research shows. It isn’t helpful to some groups of people. But often pitched as a panacea for all.

I have a dropper on my gravel bike. It’s definitely useful for what I ride but I could live without it.

Has she got heart rate limits set in Health or anywhere else. If these are incorrectly too low it may trigger the warning perhaps?

The Aboyne blue trails are great and deffo worth a visit. Not far from Tarland at all. Super easy climb too.

I would say the scale and technicality of heartbreak ridge (particularly in the wet) make it not for a beginner.

Tarland is great for all abilities – you can just go faster and harder the better you are. Even the climb is fun and easy if you’re moderately fit despite the altitude gain.

Yeah the line up does seem to transcend the jazz scope. My pals went to see Wu Tang Clan there a few years ago. Not exactly jazz either.

I was dragged along to see Alice Cooper in 2004 or so. It was quite intimate back then and my overriding memory is how expensive the booze was.

Sorry not much more to add.

Just had a 36kw Worcester Bosch combi installed a few days before Christmas. We were £3300 all in with old boiler removed and disposed of, new flue, bit of piping etc and Nest digital thermostat fitted.

bit of an emergency install so didn’t have the opportunity to shop around but I was expecting the bill to be worse to be honest. Used a local independent guy.
