That looks great to me, reckon I could do it on my Fuel? Is it JUST for DH bikes?

    Are these for next summer???

I’m using some Handyman gloves that someone pointed out on STW months ago. Best I’ve used and great light protection. Better than all the cycling gloves I’ve wasted money on over the years.

I prefer to run only the one 5mm spacer under the bar and a 20mm rise (in the bar). No rise to the stem… that’s rather than having more spacers under the stem. Seems to feel better somehow…

What will your spacer set up be OP?

He was from were I am. Washington. He lived in half a mile from me and I had the pleasure of meeting, riding and bumping into him plenty of times. Him and Justin (his brother) were both great riders.

I can remember when he first got sponsored by Sepsh… I also remember his Hardisty Cycles GT.

He gave plenty of people inspiration, even just around here, he’s still missed but never forgotten.

It may now be in the form of a bike part but surely it was all created at the Big Bang?

I could be wrong but I don’t think that’s true. Sure all energy and matter occurred as a result of the big bang but I don’t think carbon atoms appeared until some time afterwards.

Carbon is a compound so it has not been around from the BB but a little later, true.

BTW, I’ve still got a Trek Y11 from 98 but i don’t ride it, nothing wrong with it though…

All round trail bike with the minimum of foibles = Trek EX
    More efficiency = Giant Trance
You like to feel you suspension moving = Specialized
Live in the North – Orange 5
Smug factor of owning something slightly niche but generally avaialble = Turner Flux

Combo of all = Yeti ASR5.

Great, I’m going to swap to an Orange Five then. Nah, actually I think I can pick one up for not much.

Glad that Trek Fuel got the vote so far, my favorite in 20 years of riding : 🙂

There’s been no mention of my favorite: The Uprising.

This is a film to make you get of the couch if you need it! Most of our young’ns are on here and I reckon Josh B takes the center stage, love it.

…I’m hoping that I’m going to get the answer I want as my aim is to stop the dive when braking hard, this seems the answer to my woe…

you’ll end up with 150mm of brake-dive, instead of 130mm.

‘low-speed compression damping’ is part of the answer to your woe…

    Posted 7 hours ago #Report-Post

This is exactly what I mean, i want the new fork for the low speed my Fox doesn’t offer. Cheers.

The only issue is that it may stress the frame? Thanks to bri72 for your answer!

Thank you all – the reason I want these forks (Blackbox) is because they’ve got low speed compression, to stop dive. I’m more worried about the stress on the frame to be fair…

like i said, jumping from 130mm to 150mm – will the frame go snap?

    Any ideas?

And if the confidence a fs gives you makes you have more fun, tell everyone else to go suck it.

    Hi Torbster,

I’ve got a Trek Fuel EX and can say it’s the best trail bike I’ve ever ridden. It helps with comfort and control whenever I’m on it and my confidence has grown massively through this bike. Yes I’ve tried others too including a Spec stumpy, a Turner 5 spot but I wouldn’t swap my Trek for either to be fair.

I hope you make an informed choice and please post a picture one you’ve purchased, just make sure your fence/garden is in check first…

I’m 5, 11 and I’ve found that the only thing that matters is top tube length (for sizing). I go for a Medium but saying that (on mine a 23.5 inch top tube)but my hard tail (P5) my top tube is only 20.5 inches – honest. Very short bike and class for chucking.

    Probably no help, sorry…

Why would you want little wheels in the UK and not anywhere else?

Big wheels all the way here.

Haven’t you noticed that they haven’t taken off here like America? Not everyone wants big wheels but Spesh may be think that they know best, eh?

Wow, that’s hard to believe! Guess they’re not so concerned about us British then… 🙄

All of my bikes run Hope BB’s and all are going strong, no problems ever. The seals are the best there is… IMO of course.

+1 to Hope for the colour options too 😉

My local Halfords (Washington) is great. The bikes are on plans and the guys at the shop go out of their way to do a good job, they’re bike nuts and know their stuff. I can’t see why Halfords usually get slated, not my experience at all TBH. The other local LBS’s (2 of them, in Newcastle) are absolutely rubbish, I’ve tried with them and they couldn’t care less!

Shout out to the Halfords lads!

I have this dilemma all of the time with my bikes. If performance is not the only factor then build what you want… Groovy is the way, IMO

Xiphon, I suspect he is not a troll. From the linkedin page:

    Richie McCoy’s Summary
My goal is to become the first officially recognized race driver with Asperger’s Syndrome.
Through my racing and with the “Breed” brand I am looking to promote awareness of Asperger’s Syndrome to the masses.

In my professional experience of aspergers, I have come across many people who seem to go about life by imagining what they want to happen, (eg bike racing or motor racing team) and then sort of making as much as they can around them fit this story, even if they overlook some key fundamentals (eg a driving or racing licence) and it all looks rather far fetched to those around them.

I hope that originally no one on here took the piss knowing about this, seems like Aspergers it was.

That aside, can’t wait for people to come to this thread, wanting to see some talent (on bikes) 😉

*edit* Duane qualifies in my mind

In my mind, my FS bikes are good for the feeling I get from them. My HT is very light and stiff, more than most I think. So, the main thing I feel as a positive for FS handling is the weight distribution in corners. The squish I try to push into hard corners feels lush and the bounce back out feels incredible. I don’t get that from my HT unfortunately.

HT does not make me a better rider. FS does not make me a better rider.

FS feels nice because of the above.

Try Mr Stickman out, see how committed he is ) the more often you ride it the more likely to catch him too, especially if you ride it early morning or evening mid-week.

+1 for this, wish I could help. Once caught we could surround him and chant about our opinions being different 🙄

Why dont we form gangs and look for dog turd leaving owners too, give em a kickin’… OR WE COULD GO FOR A RIDE. Have you seen it out there?? 😀

I’m sure at some stage they’ll probably need an MTBing Guest or two and if you want one with a bit of media training the obvious choice is Rob Warner, who I can see wiping the floor with that presenter TBH, that would be worth watching…
