@singletrackmind: took your advice and ordered that torch, cheers! Going to use it on my helmet and it’ll be joining an MJ872 mounted on the bars. Should be plenty, well I hope so!

Regarding forks: easier than cleaning constantly, use a muck nutz to prevent crap getting to the seals, works a bloody treat! Best product in ages IMO, of course.

Zippykona, you’ve made my day! Now I’m hoping that you can (shed some light) on just how awesome 2 head units are working together?

My god, do you guys above think that bike tests have been skewed because of money from the advertisers?

Where oh where does that leave integrity of our fave journalists?

    Chipps? Got a comment?

I haven’t enjoyed all of the comments but I do have a serious question:

How do riders get away with doping?
Are tests not given before the race?
If so are the type of drugs that riders take undetectable?

It’s against the rules to dope so anyone who does it should not get a second chance once caught. However, I don’t think that they should be banned actually. The performance enhancing drugs probably bring more excitement to a race…

I think the testers should get their act together and catch them before the race. Unless I’m missing something – so do tell.

@ davidtaylorforth: Who are you to tell ME I can’t ride in them? I CAN and DO, keep your stupid offhand comments to yourself please. I ride in these in winter as they outperform everything else I’ve tried.

I will not buy cheap skater shoes as tried them before and I can feel the pins through the soles. I will not buy cheap walking shoes because they’re not waterproof for long enough.

Maybe inferior products suit your riding style, eh?

    Much love, FFS!

mikey; what’s a stem mount? Serious question… I’ve got a hope stem but the ‘mount part, I don’t know what you mean. Do you mean top cap? Stems’ face plate? ‘

Dear OP, would you consider boots instead? I use Scarpa Sl M3 boots and they’d do you nicely IMO. Totally comfortable, waterproof, sturdy and grip is ace because they’re Vibram soles. Very warm to boot, pardon the pun!

I’m gonna have to agree with Northwind here, MJ872 is a class bit of kit and worth every penny IMO. Had cheaper ‘power lights’ before and wouldn’t buy again as quality in chassis and battery worried me slightly. The light needs to be tough on a mountain bike.

Have fun with your night riding OP!

I’ve got good memories of that device, it swivels when the chain goes up and down the cassette. Great design and well priced. In fact, thanks, I’m buying one now!

@nosedive: exactly right and no problem at all with my set, they get thrashed every ride, about 100 miles per week.

@Alex: I’m very happy for you that you like your bike so much, read your blog too, keep writing mate

Seems that this bike is not only beautiful but does what it says via the designer. Very nice.

Black looks amazing, any comment on your wheels? I’m glad that you went for the Arch EX after all of the talk. What do you think though? I didn’t realise that a 2.5 would fit, will try it out.

If you don’t use anything then you will lose your chain a lot.
…and if you use Superstar’s cheapo top chain guide you will lose your chain a lot but it will be jammed down the side of the chain device and hard to get back on the ring

I know you’re right and I think I know why. See the photo below… The part of the chainset where the bolts are, the end of the arm is a touch too long to fit properly on mine. This stops me moving the chain device down enough, creating a gap. The chain has enough room to bounce off the top of the ring and get stuck, just like you say!

Haven’t noticed anyone pointing out that it isn’t just about what and how you ride but lots to do with body weight. I’m 11.9 stones and I can rag most wheels without smashing them, even my Mavic Cross rides!

Try hammering a bike with Crossrides on when your 18 stones and its new repair time soon. Just saying…

I have had the misfortune to walk into Lowfell Cycles. I went in with my wheels recently and asked can you make these tubeless for me please? I didn’t get a yes, I didn’t get a no. What I got was: ‘you don’t look like a racer, you’ve no need at all to use tubeless’.

This was followed by lots of condescending remarks and even a ‘Hope make terrible products’ AND ‘I’ve never heard of Stans’!

This coming from a former Gary Fisher Dealer!

I couldn’t contain my disappointment and after several minutes of abuse, I walked out.

Why act that way? I had cash in my pocket to pay him and would have bought the kit in his shop!
