I sometimes feel under-horsed on my New Forest Pony but only because at the minute I have a home-made New Zealand Rug which is so short that it’s low profile. Match that with my aluminium horseshoe nails, Kevlar reigns and a carbon bit. I only need a set of hydrophobic Oakley blinkers now, then I’m off.

I find horses on the local bike/motocross routes. They find me using their bridleways… Neeeiiiigghh botha! 😉

Both 26 and 29 are widely available and both will be sticking. In your situation, I recommend looking at a Scott Scale… Awsome cross country mtb. You can buy them with 80mm forks and the head angle is well cross country, 71 I think? Light and tight bike, goes like a rocket and available in both 29 and normal.

    Good luck to you mate.

+1 for Majicshine mj872 but only for the bar personally speaking. Very bright and lovly flood. Not enough spot for a head peice.

    Enjoy the night, rider!

Did you find that useful? It works to show a difference but no real value in my eyes, am I missing something perhaps?

    43.
A- I would like to meet some persons who are homosexual (men or women).
B- I stay away from anyone I suspect of being “gay” or “lesbian.”

    B

How bloody stupid – I don’t particularly want to meet gay people but I don’t want to particularly want to meet straight people either! I had to answer but the options are both so far from the truth that my ‘answer’ doesn’t count.

I suppose there’s some meaning to this survey but not being in the middle of it, I’ve no idea of what it’s value is.

Good luck with your work though OP. 😀

black forks are the new white

I’ve noticed this myself… we’ve had grey, white, black – what next Fox?

I’ve read elsewhere that your bike (SBrock) is a flyer and it does look lovely, enjoy it mate!

You do realise this is a Bike Forum with no age restrictions?

Great to see people into this type of stuff, not just me then. I saw Opeth live when they did Orchid way back when – love the stuff.

Cookie monster vocals come with the territory in this genre, don’t they.

Recommendations – As one person said – Mastadon. I say The Gathering, Dark Tranquillity, Arch Enemy (wife says) and check out My Dying Bride! Ulver, Emperor, Morbid Angel etc.

That’s right, they look better and that can mean a lot, they look comfy so will make you feel that way. Just a sugar pill but a lovely looking one!

@Scottchegg: Nah mate, I’ve been through so many bikes nicked that if someone could prove it was theirs and it’s stolen then I’m happy to help. You won’t get much help from the police either – lots of personal experience there too. I would be only too happy to retrieve it and post it back.

Then they get <snip> black box???

Not on Shimano and Fox they don’t!

Thanks for that – good point!

wow theres a lot of armchair dh pros on here!

That’s probably because lots of us like to watch the races, read the hype and even form opinions! I’m not always right though, see just above. 😉

I live in Newcastle – if it belongs to someone on here then let me know and I’ll get it back for you. You’ll have to prove ownership before I beat the crap out of someone for you though…

chain had been routed wrongly at assembly from new

    😯

    What bike have you got?

One thing you should bear in mind when adjusting gears, IMO is the high / low screws…

Anyway, hope it’s all better mate.

I’m sure that the geometry of the GT will be different to off the peg for the Atherton’s, just as the Comm’s were for them. The old Comm’s were degrees slacker to be fair. Then they get custom tune suspension and black box???

Reviews of standard bikes don’t mean that much when we’re talking factory editions, do they? Bet their’s will fly! Good luck to them, seems like they need it, especially Gee. Think Rach’ will be on form this year though, save injury.

It probably help to know how tall I am – 5,11. I use bars cut to 760mm. 780 felt to long, I kept trying that for a few weeks but decided to clip em. it’s amazing what 20mm can do, eh?

Go for the Hopes, used them myself and they FEEL great. Power isn’t everything as someone said. Ultimate power just locks the brake quickly, ultimate feel helps you out when needed. No one builds feel into their brakes like Hope and that’s the main reason I use them. Think what you like about looks though – that’s only in the eye of the beholder, as they say. Personally I think they are also the best looking on the market currently.

I used 10w engine oil in my open bath Fox 140 Talas. Everything is fine, felt the same. IS the same. Change to 7W & you’ll notice a different feel so they say… you can tune in this way!

If you can make sure that they they are the ‘old made in Italy?’ forks then go for it. They’ll beat most modern forks – so I’m constantly told. I think Marz went wrong somewhere a few years ago but they’re back on track now. That leaves a gap that you shouldn’t touch from about 08 – 10. Just guessing on those dates but someone on here will know the specifics.

Good luck, whatever you get mate.

Lads, thank you all for helping me understand. I thought that they were nothing more than road bikes with different tyres – never seen one in the flesh you see. Now I can see that they must make em tougher than they look. They do seem fun. I wouldn’t mind trying one down my way on local trails for comparison purposes.

    Why the canti brakes anyone?

If it was me, I’d file the mount down to get it to clear the frame without crushing the weld. Even if it doesn’t do the frame any structural harm it’s going to be messing up your brake alignment.

    This!

You need it sorting properly if you want your 3k bike to work properly. I think the job is called facing the surface – call Orange, maybe they’ve heard of it???

Giro Xen. Very sturdy & well respected for protection & that’s what you want, right?

Coolhandluke: C’mon mate – a removable chin guard? Where’s the common sense in that design? 🙄

    robsoctane

C’mon mate, £10 will get you some good tyre levers and can you honestly say you’d rather spend £100’s than 10 minutes changing tyres?

That is of course if you haven’t got your mind set on tubeless, why would you? tubes will always be better…

    Waiting for backlash now 🙄

The two bikes im looking at are the Ghost AMR (logical step up), or the Giant Trance. I like the Trek EX8 too but most of the guys I ride with have an EX and id like to have something different.

I ride a Trek EX 8 & I say follow the sheep in this situation mate, you’ll probably know they’re stunning already! Enjoy it whatever yo get though…

Cyclists who use the roads when we’ve just spent millions of pounds the country can ill afford on a network of cycle paths, are as selfish as they are stupid. Especially ones in Lycra. And especially the ones without lights or light clothing. How many of those do you see on the roads – but not on the cycle paths – these dark days? And how many do you not see until it’s almost too late?

I’m sure that I’ve seen many in cars that do not indicate, drive too fast etc. etc. I’ve never slated anyone for this yet, just kept my opinions to myself but maybe it’s time for us all to speak up??? 😉

Has this guy has nothing better to do?

The Remedy: That’s almost exactly what I have in my head! Just swap the matt black for gloss white and bingo… I already have all the red anodized bits on the frame including everything by Hope – limited red M4’s from Moonglu. That’s a beautiful bike mate…

    Thanks for sharing! 😉

I also love the sparkly off white, lovely!

Some great paint on the above and I really like the job on that race bike – the purple one… that blue matches perfecto on those forks too!

I like the idea of outlining the flames on the second bike, gives me an idea, ta!

Anyone else got stuff to show off… Keep them coming!

    Cheers! 😉

Wow Nick – that’s excellent work! I only ever saw NS bikes do matt and gloss together but it was in no way as good as flames – just a fade. could you show me a close up of a tube?
